As of Right now, the project is very unlikely because rightnow the State Senator and otherpeople are Boycotting Govenor Jerry Brown and commense him to reconsider on killing the entire project and leave everything that it was and are, the price tag for this is over $50 Billion and soon will be $60 Billion, therefore the HSR is more likely will be canceled before we reach September of nextyear.
@sideslide23 they weren't smart enough to cut costs. They could build it much cheaper, but because of fucking labor unions, it's not likely........ and restrictions as well
@tehatemachine and there just no room to build, the land is full its full of farmland and denze cities, they should have build it 30 years ago before the land got filled up.
@sideslide23 at that time though we where heavily focused on aviation and freeway construction, We did have some innovative rapid transit systems build then though. Bart is one of them.
@Entropy56: Chances are, it will never happen. Japan Railways has been operating the high speed Shinkansen for 40 years and has never had a single fatality. The same goes for TGV, which has been in operation for nearly 30 years.
@gibb1991 It's already happened. Germany had one when the wheels split. They also said the Titanic wouldn't sink. NASA had a multibillion dollar crash. Murphy's Law is just a matter of time.
High-speed rails don't make sense in America because of the vast sprawl. Japanese are packed like sardines. People in the US will be taxed for a train they will never use. It is a complete waste of money, but you are welcome to fund it yourself.
What Software do they use to make these Animations? Would a laptop say a Dell studio XPS 1640 be able to do this with 8GB DDR3, 2.8GHz i7 quad, 1GB HD Graphics or what I need a powerfuller computer to do this sort of stuff?
@TravvyG In a high end organisation like Lucasarts, they used dedicated servers with the rendering power of thousands of machines, plus networking all of their computers overnight to further distribute the workload of their 3D graphics work. You could do the same with an ordinary machine, it'd just take months if not years to finish processing.
The Dell XPS is more for gaming than rendering work, look for a PC with a Nvidia Quatro rather than a Geforce (One is for 3D developers, other gaming)
I'm working on a simulation like this for the state of Indiana and the benefits of a Midwest HSR Network. I use a program called 3ds Max, which is a computer gerneration and simulation program. I also use AutoCAD.
Here's one person from the UK who hopes that isn't always going to be the direction things go in. I think America can sort itself out, but this is the kind of pain experienced with decades of poor economic policies, and sadly a great deal of military overexpenditure (I believe America will be just as safe with five super carriers as it is with eleven, not to mention never having needed two in an war to happen so far, when 'scary Russia' has only one, and China zero that move). It can be fixed.
I'd rather see the N700 modified. The problem I see with using a TGV or ICE is the acceleration is not as good due to 1/2 the wheels being unpowered. The Shinkansen has all wheels except the very front and back ones unpowered for fast acceleration. It would help on the local stops to have fast acceleration.
@mugshotesp you wont have any "local stops" with any high speed train. It wont make sense to stop all 25 kilometers, economically. The acceleration is not a problem, as the ICE for example can reach 160km/h in about 1 minute. In Germany, the ICE stops have an average distance of 80km from each other, the stations inbetween are serviced by fast local trains with a Vmax of 160km/h.
@mugshotesp: Good point. But if the N700 is used it needs to be modified to meet American asthetics. Most of my friends don't like the smaller windows, and this is somewhat humorous, but some compare the front of the N700 to a giant penis. lol
@sideslide23 the new designs coming from europe, (the french next gen TGV, called the AGV) have distributed power too, meaning many more wheels are powered which in turn makes them competitive with japanese designs if acceleration is an important issue. Tests are underway with the AGV in Italy, which is launch customer for 25 trains of this type.

@Entropy56 China has HSR and many ways their country is like ours. Very large cities spread out. I think we should build it.

The train in in this video is a Shinkansen700 whie TGV is in the other videos. i hope they run them both.

@mugshotesp: What about the new AGV or Zefiro 380? Those both have articulated power trucks and look freaking AMAZING!
gibb1991 1 year ago
@gibb1991 Do you know what the accleration is in comparison to the Shinkansen N700? If they have as good or better acceleration, why not.

your right Shinkansen is very important for California, but the rest of the state, it can be TGV , ICE, or what ever.
