If you get a shining surface after cutting that usually means that the bevel was rubbing on the surface and burnishing instead of just cutting.

You mentioned using twin bevel on your gouge, please could you explain further exactly how you managed to make the profile on the gouge?

Great video, Stu. What angles do you use on the gouge? Just curious. Something like 3-5deg. difference between them sound right?
