I would think that it would work, but the thing with the Fish Filter material is it's plastinated slightly so the juice has no option but to wick the atty. As long as the poly or foam filler does not touch the atty (just the metal wick) it should not burn. I used to get loads of burning smells and tastes when using polyfil, so this really works for me! also we were wondering the make and/or model of the fluval filter u are using, we went to look for one today and no luck with finding the one we needed, we may have to look for one on line that is why we need the exact one you got. thanks.
I wonder if I can do this with my cartomizers?

Just a heads up -- the instructions on the side of the Fluval box say to "rinse thoroughly" before use.
