  • Does it cut through in the mix in a live/ rehearsal situation?

  • @muzgol yes it definately cuts through. I can bury the other guitarist easily - but that's his own fault for boosting too much bass and treble. My mid heavy tone dominates the mix at moderate volumes.

  • Really brutal (in a good way!) tone. Good luck with your band.

  • @robibm2003 Thanks alot!

  • ENGL is the shit dudes.

  • @MrRagnorawk

you are a totaly knowless voll trottel,

engl are the beste amp-brand over all...

better you go play chess with red fingertips...

  • @pawhead That's what I said. I know Engl is the best amp brand. And I want one really bad.

  • @pawhead when he says the shit , he actually means awesome......

  • @megadeth1996 sorry and cool thatz you guys are with me...

i play engl amps for a ling time, and there is no other brand who makes me feel so good by plaing metal...

  • @pawhead awesome, i also have engl. i play through an engl savage.

  • @megadeth1996

at first i own the powerball, then i try the savage after them i play a short time the fireball and finaly i go back to the powerball, and hell yeah that the best sounding amp for me...

  • hey were looking for guitarist for a band called when darkness falls in richmond illinois we a full band besides a lead guitarist so we were wondering if you would want to join!!!!add tommy kelley on facebook if u want to join

  • You should change out that JB, get an anderson H3, they are fucking unbelievable

  • that was awesome! i want that amp so bad, but im dead broke :(

  • If you`re still looking for a band feel free to check out any of my 9 videos, but especially Slipknot`s Gematria(The Killing Name)I`m a vocalist looking for a heavy death metal band. But even though I sing with Slipknot,my vocal style is different.

  • You don't seem to have had many offers to join bands.... More questions about gear than jamming.

  • @NervousSystemMusic Thank you for pointing out, as well as adding to, the futility.

  • @NervousSystemMusic I've finaly found a band! Best dudes I've ever worked with ever! Check us out we're called Despair of the Ancients.

  • dam the qual sounds good, did you eq this atall in software or is it the raw sound?

  • nice!!!!

  • so funny queston out of nowhere, how much would you sell the HB300 for?

  • @burras3 make me an offer.

  • Is that Engl all stock?

    What a beast!

Seriously considering buying one. Its versatile, and apperently, a metal monster!

  • Yeah it's stock, I just had a bunch of EQ, one before the amp and one in the loop running. But that's all unnecessary - try one out if you can.

  • And is the guitar a big thing for good sound to? Now i have some shitty Ibanez for like 200$ but now ill soon buy LTD EX-401 with EMGs. Is meybe that the reason for not so good sound?

  • 1 more question i have =) Does an EQ make alot of change in the sound? At the time i dont have an EQ yet but im thinking on buying 1. But i dont know if there will be any big changes in the sound. I cant get close to what you have! :D And what EQs do you recommend. :D

  • Now that I've had more time with it, the ENGL Blackmore doesn't need external EQ. Did you try those settings? What kind of speaker cabinet are you using?

  • Hm... Yes i tryed all the settings and they sound realy cool but its not close to yours. The bad thing is that i dont have vintage 30 speakers, i have Marshall 4x12 box with G12T-75W speakers. Some say that they are better than vintage.... Dont know that. But is meybe the thing that i cant get sound close to yours, becouse i have Blackmore slow hand motion with 6L6 GC tubes? Or is meybe something else??

  • wtf ??? is this just the amp ??

  • Yes.. aside from my fingers, pick, strings, guitar, pickup, cable, EQ, guitar amp, more EQ, speakers, and microphone.

  • Dude can u tell me the settings to get that sound?

I just got this amp today and dont know any good setting yet =)

  • Here's an awesome setting: Lead 6 or 7, depending on your pickups, Bass 7, Mid 2 to 4, depending how much scoop you like, treble 5, presence 1 to 2, contour OUT, lead volume 10, master volume to taste. This is for vintage 30 speakers.

  • You sound just bad arse! Please post more!

  • Since way back when I had a mullet! lol

  • damn, just when i thought this amo had the best crunch ever, it has brutal distortion as well!!

  • Best amp ever!

  • Dude.. check out bandmix-dot-com

its a great site of peps lookin 4 peps..

  • Thanks , I'll check it out.

  • Great tone man!!!!!!!!!!!

Which string gauge do you use?

  • dude that sick as fuck!

  • sik riffs man

  • So, if I got this and boosted the lows with an eq, would it be too much? Or are the lows really that powerful on this thing?

  • Tight playing...Tone is too muddy tho. Just my 2C

  • Your sound is Killer!!! I play a Randall which is pretty bad ass, but I might be giving ENGL a try real soon!

  • badass! :D

  • youre one hell of a rhythm guitarist man when you join a band i will buy your cd lol

  • Hi, there I was wondering what settings you used, im having a bit of trouble finding my dream tone.

    Thanks

  • that wuz awesome! i du guitar and drums, im in 2 uther bands, so i have a little experience. pleez look up my vid, metal anarchy tutorial. i originally rote all the songz in there.

  • i like. your style would go great with some jeff loomis style lead..im available

  • Hey, would you recommend this amp If I was trying to play stuff along the lines of newer Emperor? I know emperor uses powerballs live, how do you think this one compares

  • The Powerball's Lo Lead and Hi Lead channels can cover a lot of territory. The blackmore's hi lead channel is closest to the powerball's Lo Lead channel, but just the littlest bit spongier. The Powerball's Hi Lead channel is a tone that this amp can't really acheive without an EQ pedal in front of it; it's very spongey something like a mesa rectifier but better. I think you'd be happy with the blackmore if you're looking for the lo lead powerball tone. Try both amps if you can.

  • Thanks Mate, I noticed your in libertyville, Im from Glenview, does your Band have a myspace?

  • Wow great sound!!!

  • Do you mostly improvise or do you know how to write your own stuff?

  • Improvising is how I write. I think that most people write by making something up and then changing it around till it's acceptable and then commit it to memory.

  • It depends most of the time its improvising. Other times is messing around with scales, arpegios so it can fit with other riffs.

  • What the hell!!!

Great sound man!!! It's exactly the sound I need, but, do you think that without the rocktron expression and the graphic EQ the sound change a lot?

I'm looking for a good amp for death metal but I don't now if is better the single rectifier or the blackmore or the fireball...

If you now any other good amp for death metal please tell me.

    Stay metal!

  • Eh this amp didn't work out for me. It has too much bass and the tone is kind of hard to push around, if you know what I mean. Ever play a cranked Marshall DSL through a 1960 cab? Now that's a nice and spongey feel! Play everything you can and then make your decision, is my advice.

  • fuck the people that are baging u out your play is great and eq settings of a magician i reckon that you'll get pretty far in the music indstustry and keep it metal

  • dude thats pretty good im looking for a guitarist right now for my metal band I have everything but a lead would you be intrested?

  • Possibly. Is it black metal? Are you From Illinois?

  • dude your good, what gauge strings do you use?

  • I forget the gauges.... I was using the 7 string power slinky set, and throwing out the high E string.

  • You have a mad Tone and Awesome Skills.

  • thanks man, I've been using the Savage now instead... the blackmore has too much low end.

  • hey can you do some more recording with this amp? i want to hear more of the distortion tweeked and stuff. i also would like hearing more clean.

  • No. Haha.

  • Tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurn down the gain. haha

  • its metal its suposed to have a lot gain. lol

  • Not even. You get a much more heavier sounding tone when you back the gain up. Packing on gain just leads to a more muddy and compressed sound. You'll just get eaten up in the mix.

  • blah blah blah. you're boring.

  • Gain is fine. I play metal not conservative prog rock.

  • i would love to join your band

  • you fucking ass hole nice hair dip shit i hate u and ur tone lmao any ways laters dood

  • I made my wig from pubes I collected off of white castle hamburgers. Don't make me feed it to you. haha 40 pounds of metal zone is superior.

  • 8======D

  • Text penis. Sure. Thanks.

  • i want your equipment lol

  • Man, I am in fuckin awe of your tone! Just out of curiousity, what gauge strings do you use?

  • Sounds like a 12-13

  • Tuning down to A standard I would expect at least a 12, especially considering its a baritone and not a 7 string. I was more interested on the lower strings though. I was curiuos how much the exrta scale length of the baritone affected what gauge strings could be used and not have excess string flop.

  • i'm gonna get a set of 14-70 and then get more springs put in the back well thats for my style of guitar anyway

  • For this recording I used:

    14, 18P, 28, 38, 48, 58.

They're ernie ball power slinkies for 7 strings, I just throw away the high E; also my barritone is 27 inch scale. I now use flat wound strings and don't recall the guage, the tension is greater then the same guage round wound...

  • Awesome! I want an ENGL amp so bad!!!

  • god daaaaaaaaaaaaamn

the lows sound so fucking good

  • you look like joey eppard

  • fuck !

the blackmore should sound HUGE with my 7 string (ibanez RG7620 w/ 11-70 "tenebrae's custom set , tuned down to drop G)

any cab recommendations ? for really low tuning ...

  • and you have a nile shirt :D

you are a god . a god can't be wrong with an engl lol

  • sorry I didn't repond. I'm lazy. I reccomend a cab with either Celestion Vintage 30's or Celestion G12 T-75's. V30's are stiff and don't breakup that much. The T-75's breakup really nicely and add an awesome feel when they're cranked. I heard good things about Eminence Texas Heats too, never tried them though.

  • Nice Riffing!

  • what are the tuning note for A standard tuning i in A# now BUT A standard sound way better so if you could tell me the tuning notes i would be greatful

    cheers guitarist man

  • I would join you if I played as good as you.

  • my boy friend mike have a band if you want so tell where you come from and years old ??.... ok? so bye & you goood

  • From Illinois USA.

  • sacale agudos papa

  • what?

  • were you using just the sh-4? do you recommend it for metal? isn´t it way too trebly? thanks for your answers, btw very nice playing!

  • I was using the JB and I had an EQ after the guitar, before the amp. So I removied 1.4 -7 dB to remove some of the treble grind. I hold the pick weird and play hard so I siwtched to flat wound strings now and use an EMG 81.

  • Thanks, this means you recommend the JB? Or do you think, an sh-5 custom would fit in my Les Paul better..?

  • What amp do you have? See if you can bring it to guitar center and play one of theit JB equipt guitars through it. I dunno if they'll have one with a custom 5 though...

  • yer totally right, sh-5 isn´t very common...

  • kick arse tone dude. what is the bridge pickup in this vid.

  • Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB model.

  • Holy shit dude thats some badass tone you got coming out of that engl, thinking of getting the blackmore myself, especially if it can get this brutal sounding. Are you using a bit of eq just to take out a few frequencies? Any other effects you may not have listed?

  • Thanks a lot. I was using a ton OF EQ here. The black has a shit ton of bass. I was removing tons of it with a parametric EQ. I am also EQing the guitar before the amp as well. So I used two EQs and a Noise Gate.

  • Yeah they do have alot of bass i just bought one, i wasn' sure but this vid pretty much tipped me over the edge :)

  • damn, I should have replied sooner. I am eqing this amp pretty heavily here, before the amp and after the amp. I play really specific things and this amp didn't work for me withon a tone of EQ. I hate having to EQ before the amp. Makes me feel like I bought the wrong amp... try one out and see if it works for you. I had to suck out a TON of bass when close-miking it.

  • Very Good

On which cab do you play ???

  • Randall 2x12 Celestion Vintage 30's.

  • randall 2x12 vintage 30's

  • Remember me?... hehe I'll be your flamboyant front runner , this business you have to have something that really stands out to get attention .... Rock! on Dude...

  • You craysee gurl.

  • Sounds great! Which channel is it?

  • 4th channel. Hi Lead.

  • really great sound. wow. nice one.

  • OMG u fucken kick ass, i'm in a metal/death metal band but were just starting off, still planning on writing the first song lol

  • wammbarro is a boy-band worshipping homosexual. Fuck pop. Don't bother posting here anymore if you like pop music. I will delete it.

  • i thought he said that numetal was commercial crap . it seems he prefers death or black metal

  • blues is good....but this is metal. Its totally different than jazz dude. Dont bash on the metal...

  • you're a moron...blues has soul eh? Every blues guitar lick was written prior to 1950 and you call this guy unoriginal and commercial...name me one progression in the blues genre in the last fifty years

  • Fuck that. I hate that commercial crap. Metal is what I like.

  • Nice... How long have you've been playing? I don't really know much about guitars, but I know metal when I hear it. I do vocals but I'm still in the process of perfecting them. Maybe you could watch and tell me how horrible I am or maybe if I'm even getting close to professional. My latest video is "The Serpentine Offering" from Dimmu Borgir, the other vidoes are pretty old and I usualy get slightly better as the weeks go by.

  • how does this compares to an ENGL 530-based rack system ? love this tone ... but can't afford a blackmore . sadly :(

  • I've heard a recording done with the 530 and I can nail the tone in it with the Blackmore. But the 530 can get a wide range of tones and who knows maybe it's capable of something the blackmore isn't, and vice versa. I say try it out. If you don't like it ENGL stuff is easy to sell on EBAY, it holds it's value better than most gear.

  • i think i'll give the 530 a try :D

  • aaah !!! you are what i call a kickass guy that's not afraid of playing metal , tune down to drop A or sound huge .

  • I don't know how to play blues or rock or SRV. Sorry.

  • Dude we are interested ..614-905-5921 justin

  • where are you

  • BRUTAL SOUNDS MAN.

  • nice playing man! I thought you were getting a custom custom in the bridge? Cool tone from the richie special, i just bought a fireball today!

  • Nice licks mate, I'm looking to start a band as well. My guitar style is more along the lines of Meshuggah, Nile, and Megadeth.

  • The Custom Custom is a great pickup, and I did have it in for a while but I keep swapping them around. Now I'm back to the EMG 81. Go figure.

  • nice riffs men , congrats

  • Nice rig. The baritone sounds brutal.

  • i live in uk but i love black metal but i am not a perfectionist BUT it would be so awesome to have you in my band, how would you take drop F, or G to get those cool palm mutes, are they possible on a baritone?

  • A is as low as I think I would ever go... especially in a band situation. You're going to have a bassist with a low F or G and it's going to be loose like sleeve of wizard. My intonation is good with brand new strings but after a week it gets tricky to tune. I have a 30" baritone that could probably take a low G or F okay.

  • A Standard.

  • what tuning are you using?
