@muzgol yes it definately cuts through. I can bury the other guitarist easily - but that's his own fault for boosting too much bass and treble. My mid heavy tone dominates the mix at moderate volumes.
at first i own the powerball, then i try the savage after them i play a short time the fireball and finaly i go back to the powerball, and hell yeah that the best sounding amp for me...
hey were looking for guitarist for a band called when darkness falls in richmond illinois we a full band besides a lead guitarist so we were wondering if you would want to join!!!!add tommy kelley on facebook if u want to join
If you`re still looking for a band feel free to check out any of my 9 videos, but especially Slipknot`s Gematria(The Killing Name)I`m a vocalist looking for a heavy death metal band. But even though I sing with Slipknot,my vocal style is different.
And is the guitar a big thing for good sound to? Now i have some shitty Ibanez for like 200$ but now ill soon buy LTD EX-401 with EMGs. Is meybe that the reason for not so good sound?
1 more question i have =) Does an EQ make alot of change in the sound? At the time i dont have an EQ yet but im thinking on buying 1. But i dont know if there will be any big changes in the sound. I cant get close to what you have! :D And what EQs do you recommend. :D
Now that I've had more time with it, the ENGL Blackmore doesn't need external EQ. Did you try those settings? What kind of speaker cabinet are you using?
Hm... Yes i tryed all the settings and they sound realy cool but its not close to yours. The bad thing is that i dont have vintage 30 speakers, i have Marshall 4x12 box with G12T-75W speakers. Some say that they are better than vintage.... Dont know that. But is meybe the thing that i cant get sound close to yours, becouse i have Blackmore slow hand motion with 6L6 GC tubes? Or is meybe something else??
Here's an awesome setting: Lead 6 or 7, depending on your pickups, Bass 7, Mid 2 to 4, depending how much scoop you like, treble 5, presence 1 to 2, contour OUT, lead volume 10, master volume to taste. This is for vintage 30 speakers.
that wuz awesome! i du guitar and drums, im in 2 uther bands, so i have a little experience. pleez look up my vid, metal anarchy tutorial. i originally rote all the songz in there.
Hey, would you recommend this amp If I was trying to play stuff along the lines of newer Emperor? I know emperor uses powerballs live, how do you think this one compares
The Powerball's Lo Lead and Hi Lead channels can cover a lot of territory. The blackmore's hi lead channel is closest to the powerball's Lo Lead channel, but just the littlest bit spongier. The Powerball's Hi Lead channel is a tone that this amp can't really acheive without an EQ pedal in front of it; it's very spongey something like a mesa rectifier but better. I think you'd be happy with the blackmore if you're looking for the lo lead powerball tone. Try both amps if you can.
Improvising is how I write. I think that most people write by making something up and then changing it around till it's acceptable and then commit it to memory.
Eh this amp didn't work out for me. It has too much bass and the tone is kind of hard to push around, if you know what I mean. Ever play a cranked Marshall DSL through a 1960 cab? Now that's a nice and spongey feel! Play everything you can and then make your decision, is my advice.
fuck the people that are baging u out your play is great and eq settings of a magician i reckon that you'll get pretty far in the music indstustry and keep it metal
Not even. You get a much more heavier sounding tone when you back the gain up. Packing on gain just leads to a more muddy and compressed sound. You'll just get eaten up in the mix.
Tuning down to A standard I would expect at least a 12, especially considering its a baritone and not a 7 string. I was more interested on the lower strings though. I was curiuos how much the exrta scale length of the baritone affected what gauge strings could be used and not have excess string flop.
They're ernie ball power slinkies for 7 strings, I just throw away the high E; also my barritone is 27 inch scale. I now use flat wound strings and don't recall the guage, the tension is greater then the same guage round wound...
sorry I didn't repond. I'm lazy. I reccomend a cab with either Celestion Vintage 30's or Celestion G12 T-75's. V30's are stiff and don't breakup that much. The T-75's breakup really nicely and add an awesome feel when they're cranked. I heard good things about Eminence Texas Heats too, never tried them though.
what are the tuning note for A standard tuning i in A# now BUT A standard sound way better so if you could tell me the tuning notes i would be greatful
I was using the JB and I had an EQ after the guitar, before the amp. So I removied 1.4 -7 dB to remove some of the treble grind. I hold the pick weird and play hard so I siwtched to flat wound strings now and use an EMG 81.
What amp do you have? See if you can bring it to guitar center and play one of theit JB equipt guitars through it. I dunno if they'll have one with a custom 5 though...
Holy shit dude thats some badass tone you got coming out of that engl, thinking of getting the blackmore myself, especially if it can get this brutal sounding. Are you using a bit of eq just to take out a few frequencies? Any other effects you may not have listed?
Thanks a lot. I was using a ton OF EQ here. The black has a shit ton of bass. I was removing tons of it with a parametric EQ. I am also EQing the guitar before the amp as well. So I used two EQs and a Noise Gate.
damn, I should have replied sooner. I am eqing this amp pretty heavily here, before the amp and after the amp. I play really specific things and this amp didn't work for me withon a tone of EQ. I hate having to EQ before the amp. Makes me feel like I bought the wrong amp... try one out and see if it works for you. I had to suck out a TON of bass when close-miking it.
Remember me?... hehe I'll be your flamboyant front runner , this business you have to have something that really stands out to get attention .... Rock! on Dude...
you're a moron...blues has soul eh? Every blues guitar lick was written prior to 1950 and you call this guy unoriginal and commercial...name me one progression in the blues genre in the last fifty years
Nice... How long have you've been playing? I don't really know much about guitars, but I know metal when I hear it. I do vocals but I'm still in the process of perfecting them. Maybe you could watch and tell me how horrible I am or maybe if I'm even getting close to professional. My latest video is "The Serpentine Offering" from Dimmu Borgir, the other vidoes are pretty old and I usualy get slightly better as the weeks go by.
I've heard a recording done with the 530 and I can nail the tone in it with the Blackmore. But the 530 can get a wide range of tones and who knows maybe it's capable of something the blackmore isn't, and vice versa. I say try it out. i live in uk but i love black metal but i am not a perfectionist BUT it would be so awesome to have you in my band, how would you take drop F, or G to get those cool palm mutes, are they possible on a baritone?
A is as low as I think I would ever go... especially in a band situation. You're going to have a bassist with a low F or G and it's going to be loose like sleeve of wizard. My intonation is good with brand new strings but after a week it gets tricky to tune. I have a 30" baritone that could probably take a low G or F okay.
Does it cut through in the mix in a live/ rehearsal situation?
