@thinker900 Its more of a decision one makes. Being Wiccan is like following any other religion. If you believe in the things that define Wicca, then you are Wiccan. With any religion it takes study and time to learn what that specific path is all about. You have to understand it to follow it. Hope that answers your question! Blessed Be!
@WhimsicalWitches Well, to be honest I was raised Christian, but I always thought that something dear was missing. I was always attracted to more down to earth or nature based faiths. So, in that sense...yes I'm a Wiccan. However, I haven't read much about it or practiced the things I've learned from what I read. Mostly, because of the fear the I didn't get the right information. I think the better questions would be_
@thinker900 I was raised Christian as well so I understand how you feel. I always felt closely connected with nature and kind of just stumbled upon this path via a discussion I was having with my friend. Wicca isn't for everyone, even if you want to follow a nature based religion. I consider myself a Solitary Eclectic Pagan Witch. There are some things within the religion that do not sit well with me. The first step would be to learn as much as you can about it. See what parts- CONT:
@WhimsicalWitches resonate with you. For me, Paganism and Witchcraft just feel right to me. It started with Wicca for me because it is the most popular Pagan religion and the easiest to find information on. As far as book recommendations go, I would say Solitary Witch by Silver Ravenwolf is a good book if you are looking to learn a little about everything about what Witchcraft and Wicca entails. A lot of people don't like her but that book is very easy to understand. CONT:
@thinker900 Another good one is Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham. To be honest, its easier to just google some things plus that way the information is free. I began learning by searching things on the internet. Also watching videos here on youtube has helped me greatly as well. If you want some links to specific webpages feel free to email me at WhimsicalWitches@gmail.com I would be happy to help you find whatever you are looking for. Blessed be!
@WhimsicalWitches Cont: What books do you recommend to start understanding what it is to be Wiccan(Hx,etc)? How does one start after obtaining such texts?
@rebekahluvsmudvayne Yes! Lol Julia lives far away from me, so when we decided we wanted to make videos together, we decided to use Skype. That would be the reason we aren't on camera and why it is on my altar instead.
Off subject..how does one become a wiccan?
