  • Great sound

  • Great job my friend...FÉLICITATIONS you deserved a lot applause

  • Damn, for some reason Canadier produces some talented drummers.

  • Would you say that Ludwig shells have a different sound than the shells you're using?

  • @mortemdrummer

these are Ludwig shells, made in 2001.

  • This guy is def the best Bonham style drummer Ive found on youtube, and god yes his kit sounds incredibly good!!!

  • WOWOWOWOW !! How you learn this ? This looks exactly like the original

  • can you please tab out the paradiddles you used and if possible make a video tutorial on this song please!

  • Are those Ludwig shells maple or mahogany/poplar/maple ? sound amazing !!

  • @Lamondadrums

    all maple plys...thanks

  • @Lamondadrums ludwig is my favorite drum makers!! I have a set from the 60's!!

  • FANTASTIC!

  • I hate the hand drumming part.

Not because it isn't awesome, but because it hurts like a mofo.

  • hahaha awesome drumming... you look like phil margera :)

  • Hey is there a chance you could post a video of your toms' tuning without being miked? Great playing by the way

  • @chtzeppelin

yes, any video that has (*) in the title was recorded with just the camcorder mics...most of my earlier vids for ex.)

    watch?v=uSzXYAY4jFQ

  • spot on great job

  • @GrooveDrummin Alot of people think Bonzo invented or popularized playing the kit with bare hands, but I heard and found out that it was an African American named Pappa Joe Jones in the golden age of jazz, man!

  • @GrooveDrummin Your drumming sounds like it was "miked" in a recording studio, man! Very high quality instead of the "rinky dink" audios with most YouTube videos.

  • @GrooveDrummin You play Paice and Bonham on the Ludwigs, so I assume that you prefer Paiste cymbals like Paice does and Bonham did?

  • @GrooveDrummin You're my hero after Ian Paice; John Bonham; Bill Ward and Don Brewer.

  • @jeffreygaudreault i was just going to say that except i would of added ginger baker, danny carey, and of course buddy rich

  • nice kit dude! nice playing to.

  • Any drummers know the "Realistic Rock" book by carmine appice? Killer!!! Bad ass shit and it's all good and all fun and gets heavy!!! Check it out if you dig drummers like Bonnham ect.. This guy's heavy!!

  • VERY true! This was the first book I got into way back in the 80s...maybe even late 70s...it's been a while :)

  • @GrooveDrummin Right on man! It's had a few things added recently and it comes with a couple cd's and some versions have a dvd as well. I hope more guys my age get it and try it out. It could really help rock&roll. Seriously it needs more drummers. The guys out there usually can't play that well. Too many so so players with no licks and not much of a groove. Rock on brotha man!!

  • @MrJohntube12

Yes, I have the new book with cds and dvds...even got a chance to meet Carmine at a show :)

  • @GrooveDrummin Awesome!!!

  • you are the autentic boham¡¡¡

  • @Rkaz1004

I really like it a lot. I thought the ping would get lost when playing fast but not the case. The crash is very usable and sounds huge on this thing!! I'm not sure if you know already but if you go to the Paiste website you can hear samples of all the cymbals they have.

  • you're the best drummer in my style

  • @unpureless

    thank you kindly

  • can i get the same sound out off my 18 X 22 bass drum ?

  • @RubenVW95

you could get close, try this...coated 2 ply for batter and stock reso or smooth aftermarket unported. Slap a felt strip on either side and tune kinda low...should be good to go :) You will miss a lot of high end "slap" because of the depth of your bass drum but you'll get plenty of boooom!

  • how are you hitting the bass so fast?

  • MAN your kit sounds good!

  • Fantastic! All you need is the tambourine on the hi-hats and you're set! =]

  • Nice going man

  • the best moby dick cover i ever ssen

  • nigger 25:00

  • I'm 19 and would love more than anything to start playing but I've been told by many that it's too late for me to start. If I did start playing I would dedicate all the time I had solely to playing. I would just like to hear some opinions on the matter.

  • @VoiceoftheSoul10 DUDE TO LATE TO START? WTF!!! Its never to late to start drumming... i started when i was 17, im 20 this year and im known to be a really good drummer around my area now! i just played everyday because i loved it and now ive reached a respectfull lever of drumming! GO BUY A DRUM KIT AND DONT LISTEN TO THE IDIOTS!

  • @VoiceoftheSoul10

No, it's never too late and if you practice hard you'll be good in no time at all. Get in a band and speed things up for your drumming. Go for it!!

  • @VoiceoftheSoul10 19 years old? It's not too late. You're young. Get a kit and start playing!

  • @VoiceoftheSoul10 Just go out and do your thing. Play!!! You'll regret it if you turn 50 and THAN decide to start playing. I started at 16, have been playing for three years now and practise every day.Buy yourself a kit and just go for it man!!!!

Age should never be a problem!!

  • @VoiceoftheSoul10 Yes, man, you can.. I begin to play at 25 years old. Im 28 and I can play decent. I made this demo song: soundcloud * com/javzero/no-puedo-ver/ I play all instruments

  • @VoiceoftheSoul10 yo dude its not two late when I started playing the drums I was 18 and know im 20 and I can play some rush and led zeppelin man

  • @VoiceoftheSoul10 its not to late man i started when i was 18

  • @VoiceoftheSoul10 if you like it its never late!

  • helly yah u killed it you def. have chops!!

  • great really great work...nice sounding drums kit. Among the best heavy rock drummers in yr. "library" maybe only Don Brewer is missing (with his famous triplets)...thanks for sharing yr skillness...

  • @roscali

thanks!! Don Brewer is definitely a player I studied also.

  • great video ;) You should make a video about tom/floor tom tuning. i already purchased the bass drum and snare video and found them really useful :)

    Davide

  • @tokageroh1988

Thanks a lot Davide and it makes me very happy to hear you found my tuning vids useful. Good news is, I have already began work on the toms tuning vid. Won't be too much longer...

  • @GrooveDrummin that's a great news! can't wait to see it! ;)

  • @tokageroh1988

I encountered a delay. I was moving the overhead camera when, here we go....the screwdriver falls out of my hand and lands on the brand new 18" remo vintage emperor head. You think it could have landed handle end down?? Anyway, I need a new head and now it is on back order for another week or two :(

  • @GrooveDrummin That's unfortunate =( poor emperor ç_ç

Please youtube people...a moment of silence for an innocent emperor =(

  • @GrooveDrummin XD holy crap that's one of the funniest things I've ever heard. I feel your pain and am now disappointed that the tom tuning video won't be up for a while, but that's just one hell of a facepalm!

  • Moby Penis FTW.

  • nice, and set is tuned well too.

(Whats up with that tom bouncing around-is that a rim mount? I had that problem with a fix mount on a tama, and I added some lock washers and grommets from the local home depot and it fixed it. Don't know if that idea will help you or not but I just wanted to throw it out there) Doesnt seem to matter though as it works well for you.

  • @edgeyzfr1350

    Thanks

I have since changed the rims mount to a Pearl opti-mount...no more bouncing :)

  • Man i love your playing, so solid and your kit tuning is sweet, especially the snare.

  • excellent playing. im happy to see drummers playiing classic rock opposed to this bullshit Travis Barker shit.

Btw how big is the room you are recording in? roughly speaking

  • @FabDrummer91

    approx 40x55'

    Thanks for watching and comment.

  • wow,great playing man,fucking love that kit.

  • I'm wearing headphones as I speak... sounds great in stereo. Good fidelity on all drums.

  • Fantastic. You make it look easy.Great sound too.Another drum solo that blows me away is ELVIS DRUMMER 76.Quite incredible.

  • Comment removed

  • just ordered me a set today....cant wait!!!!!

  • Have you ever played with anyone good enough to do like a Led Zeppelin tribute, or just cover some songs?

  • @jimmyblues15

Actually, never thought of it but we did do a tribute to Sabbath and we always played covers including Zep tunes. Like I always say, I am not a Bonham clone or try to be, it just comes out that way because I studied the guys Bonham did.

  • @GrooveDrummin You studied them good. I learned to play piano like Jerry Lee Lewis, so I know what you mean. Its very cool what you can do

  • Nice stuff! Good technique and "lays it down"! Looks like you are having a great time and comes through in your feel!

  • @muntario1982 Who gives a shit how big someone is. I've known some 400 pounders that flat rock. Zvasin people who can only see someones physical traits and makes judgment calls suck!

  • Finally a drummer with groove , feel and dynamics.. thank YOU!

Thought I was the only one by now.. most younger players define greatness by speed and complexity.. let's start teacing them right!

Keep it up.. will subscribe to your channel right now.

And by the way: the hand part is great!.. we don't all do it the same way, but you have feel and a great will to push it through.. THAT'S what counts to me :-)

    - Henrik

  • @HR2635

These words mean a lot to me and I appreciate the comments considerably, thanks!

  • @GrooveDrummin

    You are most welcome!

I'm very impressed by the quality of your videos I must say.

Better than most pro videos on here.

  • @HR2635 old drumerss r fukin shite, dat bonham chap can suk ma fat cok

  • @babypuddy123

    Very intelligent comment! Well done!

  • Hey man what mics are you using?

  • @scott111193

Please look at my profile for complete list.

  • i love this kit sound

  • So so, with the drumsticks good, but with the hands, so bad friend

  • @Luisaviola18 post your video lets see you do better! Dumbshit!

  • Moby Dick PERFECT !!

  • You've got it going man

  • this is amazing

  • wow pretty good actually

  • Fucking i love you

  • man ...that rack tom..12 or 13 w/e..tuned way up...nice if it was a jazz kit..or if everything around it was tuned to it...

  • that good single

  • KICK ASS!!

  • I see so many videos of good drumming with awful sound .... how did you kill the overtones and control the sound for this clip?

  • @mother66

I record the audio onto 8 separate tracks and this let's me do what i want with them. I don't usually use plugins but here i think i may have noise gate on a couple of tracks.

  • so nasty

  • Beautiful tone in the drums man... great work.

  • bonzo doesn't chick his hat, he brought his foot back to give the hi hat a splash feel...

  • 9 people in youtube are stupid YOU ROCK MAN!

  • nice snare sound dude!

  • Thats a great workout, why r u fat?

  • @muntario1982

drinking too much beer, now that i've quit I already lost 15lbs.

  • @GrooveDrummin Great to hear that. I too quit and will never go back to drinking 12 a night. ;)

  • @Antiks72

Yeah no kidding, Nov 24, 2010 will be one year, not a drop! My drumming has improved imo. I can only imagine if Bonzo quit drinking how it would have affected his playing.

  • @GrooveDrummin Congrats. It's nice feeling, looking, and sleeping better. I don't know how I did, but I do know I was a real asshole most of the time.

  • @GrooveDrummin He'd probably still be playing today if he had...

  • @GrooveDrummin

can never drink to much beer! don't listen to em', you look great man!

  • @muntario1982 What an idiot u are, comment weight in music clip, lol thats sad. Anyway great job mate on drums,

  • @Znicky74

    Thanks bro

  • you're too good at drums...

  • Sounds great dude!

  • I LOVE YOU SNARE DRUM

  • very gooooooooooooooooood job man!

  • i love your drumset i bet its expesive

  • Hey

I don't know what the best 42 strand snare wires are for my 402.

    Could you help?

    Thanks man

    Scott

  • @scott111193

Not sure what the best ones are but i'm using ones called "ENFORCER SNAPPY SNARES" off of ebay.

  • @GrooveDrummin awesome drumming!

  • @scott111193 chek out the snare wires bobgatzon invented for puresound [pro custom] i think.

  • Look...I realize you're from the midwest or whatever, and maybe your wife is responsible but... you gotta lose that haircut.

  • how old are thoes drums? are they vintage or... (-: best drummer out there on youtube

  • @MarkusGronroos

made in 2001...thank you so much :)

  • Good stuff Brother!

  • could you possibly do a lesson on how to do the triplets that he did about a minute after the solo started at royal albert hall?

  • is it possible for me to get the bonham sound with a 12x5'' snare.

  • @joethedrummer96

Not even my 8x14 wood snare sounds the same, the aluminum shell carries a unique sound so I don't think the snare you have will sound the same, close maybe but will miss the mark like every other snare I've tried to get that sound.

  • great cover man I'm very impressed =)

  • NICE! Great work.

  • this guy even looks a bit like bonham. good job man!

  • WOW. VERY NICE. UM. YEAH. WOW. I'M HOPIN' TO LOOK THROUGH YOUR COVER AND FIND FOOT STOMPIN' MUSIC NOW! WOW. NICE WORK MY FRIEND!

  • @COUNTRYLAPI

Thanks! I've been asked to do FSM many times so I may have to do a vid....we used to cover it in a band I was in back in the 90's so I know he tune, actually pretty easy tune but the stamina factor on the bass drum is the hard part.

  • @GrooveDrummin First off your drumming is so great, also how is your snare tuned and what heads cause the sound is just CRAZY it sounds so good

  • Dan, you are the man when it comes to Bonzo!

  • WOW! AWESOME

  • One of the best sounding Ludwig kits I've ever heard.

Let's hear "Foot stompin Music" by Grand Funk......then we'll see what kinda foot

you got !!! That's a hard beat to play the right way for 4mins.

  • @boonehawks

We used to cover that tune..I know it well and your correct, it's a killer on the foot!! I could still pull it off and may post it.

  • Drumset sounds fantastic! Just as player does.

  • Hey that floor tom is big like a jazz drum bass! Dimensions?

  • @FuxFucis

yeah, ive played bass drums the size of my floor tom...16" x 18".

  • @iowdave

That's how they were played before sticks were incorporated. Some drums (even today) are still played with the hands so I don't think it's stupid at all.

  • @iowdave tell that to joe morello

  • @iowdave wanker

  • @bromdrum . Eh? What the feck are you on about randomly insulting me?

  • @iowdave it's not random, you're an idiot.

  • excelent stuff brother

  • nice job whoever this guy is best drumming ive seen on youtube

  • The sound reproduction on your kit is envied. Any chance you would share your tuning methods? No matter how high or mid I tune my supra, can't get that sound. Cardboard box with broken glass is the best analogy.

    Thanks again,

  • @ajdkdd3649

Thanks! That's the next video I'm working on, tuning the snare drum. To get you started, crank the reso fairly tight and keep the batter at medium to low tension. Hope that helps a bit for now.

  • Do you use the dampener on the snare? Your snare seems to have no overtone for a supra.

    Thanks

  • @ajdkdd3649

When I do apply the dampener, it touches only a liitle. Part of reducing the overtones is in the tuning.

  • Are you in a LED ZEP tributeband? ou should be =)

  • love the playing , love the sound and the kit rules!

  • Which line of kit is that?

  • @fluffyninjas

    Ludwig classic maple

  • very smooth

  • mae jamas como el legendario jhon bonhan, pero demasiado bueno le verdad, eres un buen baterista, que rajado,lo felicito!!!

  • Hey G, just viewed your videos. Very nice work and style. You have the licks down pat. You gave two answers to snare drum heads. One was emperor on top and ambassador on bottom and then later answered ambassador on top and diplomat on bottom. Did you change them later on? Also, do you use drum dial? If so, can you post the meter readings on both heads.

    Thanks!

  • I played coated ambassador/dipomat on the supraphonic snare for 20 years , then I tried coated emperor/ambassador on my maple snare and really liked it. The sound only differs in a little more bottom frequencies but durability is greater.

I don't use a drum dial but the reso is very, very tight and the batter medium tension...not too tight anyway. I found the 42 strand snares also help increase low end and add a little more 'snap'

Thank you for your interest in my drumming.

  • Impressive

  • Needs work,No gong?

  • what mics are you using?

  • please see my profile for complete list.

  • bravo!!! very good!!! i'm ipressionated

  • Hi, is there any way you can describe how you tune your supraphonic to get that fat Bohnham Live at the Royal Albert Hall 1972 sound? Also what heads do you use? Thanks......

  • reso - very tight (ambassador)

batter - medium tension, not too tight (emperor)

    42 strand snares

  • In this video, "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase plays a sick drum solo.

  • Bonham wrote this nearly 40 years ago!!!! just think about that.

  • great

  • Hey, are you a fan Of Mike Portnoy as a drummer?

Also you pay great homage to John Bonham

  • Mike is a great drummer!

    Thank you!

  • how come u only have done grooves from john bonham nd ian paice but not from bill ward the drummer from black sabbath? he gots some cool beats too but whats the difference between bonham nd paice than ward? just a curious thought

  • Bill ward is a great drummer and I have always enjoyed playing sabbath tunes. The difference is the sound and techniques used. I will consider doing a vid covering a sabbath tune.

  • awesome that would be so cool nd thanks for replying back really appreciate it alot nd yeah some sabbath tunes would be great in ur vids to show all drummers how to play it too um thanks again

  • Bill's playing was monsterous and dark, but not in the same fat groove vein as Bonzo. Sabbath ownz.
