Her voice is so relaxed and natural that Gordon, even though he has a beautiful tone, sounds stuffy next to her. Anne Murray and Dionne both really deliver on this hymn.

When I was a tot, my momma would rock me and sing this to me. Back then, I didn't know it was a song on the radio...just Momma singing a song from her past. I sit here...the tears fall from my eyes and remember her tender, selfless affection.

I have always loved this song so much--This great tune was my mother's favorite song & which was played at her funeral several years ago. I have always loved Jo Stafford--Now I'm hooked for sure-for this is the best version i have ever heard--One main reason--with Gordon Macrea--the best true Baritone singer I have ever heard in my life. Thanks for posting this. I've never heard this one, but Jo Stafford's voice is like a salve for me always, since I was very young. So very sad she is now gone, but she was ill recently. Love her so!

Absolutely awesome as are all these videos. Gordon Macrea's and Jo Stafford's voices were a perfect blend. And he was gorgeous wasn't he??!!! This song is so easy to sign, except I can never remember the sign for garden. (I really should practice more.)

I have the CD "The Old Rugged Cross" and I was amazed to hear this on YouTube. Jo had the most beautiful voice I have ever heard in my life - it reaches into my soul and brings tears to my eyes.
