  • yea peter!!!

  • I remember dancing to this at After The Gold Rush in the 80's. Great night-club. Remember Dan?

  • Pues si, woprati89, son 11 lerdos los que no saben apreciar lo bueno (tiene que haber de todo)

  • I have always loved this song ever since I first heard it.

  • I rather liked the full orchestra version he did on Letterman last night. That was beautiful.

  • @HailDarkened saw him do that when he played with the "new blood orchestra" in Boston earlier this year. the show was absolutely phenomenal

  • @BinaryAlephNull Saw the same tour while he was in Toronto. And I couldn't agree more. Fucking fantastic.

Although now I need to see him live again so I can see him with Tony Levin. It'd only be right. :D

  • Gregorian's rendition of Red Rain brought me here

  • Peter Gabriel rocks!!!

  • 9 dislikes....? Really....? What on earth is there not to like...? Oh - hang on - it's those who think it's cool to dislike things, for the sake of it. Because nothing is ever that good. Well - actually - some things - like this - actually *are* that good... lol

  • @ttillyer Only legitimate reason I can think of is that there are some serious identifiable problems with this mix as compared to the album. Main problematic thing is that the tracking is inconsistent, with some things being brought to the front and other stuff being pushed back. Gabriel's vocals are a bit wavery, as if they couldn't decide whether to use the double tracking or not in addition to pushing him primarily to the right ear. Not bad, just different in my opinion, but it's one reason.

  • @Kochiha Sure, he sounds weary on this track, but it's consistent with the theme of the song. A stunning composition.

  • Peter Gabrielle's voice never ceases to amaze me.

  • @KALEIGHdoscope Who's Peter Gabrielle? This is Peter Gabriel.

  • Chocolate Rain?

    ♫♫♫

  • The rains have come we are all greatfull that the rains have come the crops are thirsty and the waters from the sky have saved agian.xx The other side is flooded there is to much water the ground is soaked and the crops are gone what do we do??. the water of life are amazing??XXXXXXX.

  • Genesis rules!

  • Peter Gabriel's "So" is just one of those albums that takes you on such journey of emotions. It is truly a masterpiece.

  • @jblbny Really should of won some awards that year. He got ripped off.

  • 8 justin bieber fans

  • I wish I could've afforded to see him live

  • That raw, primitive voice of his just touches the truth inside of you.

  • @vanessa4u4evr The autotune twats of today could learn a lot from him - this is pure skill and passion!

  • One of the most powerful and touching songs ever.

  • He was so magnificent in this...

  • Genious!!!!!!!!! Gabriel Forever!!!!Gretings From Georgia-Tbilisi

  • just listen to the introduction... oh my god!!

  • @notyetman It sends cold shivers down my spine every bloody time. So intensely awe-inspiring. If only I had such talent.

  • Awesome song, it really pierces into your soul, engaging your emotions.

  • One of the PG's songs that are so much better in studio version.

  • Though I'm a huge fan of MJ and his work.. I still feel Peter Gabriel was the real path-breaker when it came to music videos! Ammmazing music and videos!

  • such a powerful low budget video.

  • @edthewise not so low budget for the 80s when every joe shmoe didnt have a cell cam

  • This is what music is all about

  • That is so wonderful! Thanks for the awesome feedback! Its so great to have a positive feed in this world :) I can only dream of what is was like to be there with you and your son....You are so lucky as you say - thanks for the note...wish I could of been in your shoes. Have a great evening and a fabulous life! God Bless you and yours you made me very happy child (at 41) I refuse to grow up! Gina xoxoxoxo

  • Just saw peter perform this live tonight, great performance

  • I remember listening to this when I was younger - i lived a very sheltered life - now that i know who sings such beauty - amazon here I come....Thank you Peter Gabriel :) I adore your voice - such a gift...from God!

  • I remember listening to this when I was younger - i lived a very sheltered life - now that i know who sings such beauty - amazon here I come....Thank you Peter Gabriel :)

  • @gina77770 I just saw him live the other night with the "New Blood Orchestra". I've been a fan as long as I can remember. (53) and my 26 yr old son is one too. We had an excellent time and it was an amazing show!! The man is somewhere between a genius and a god!! Between songs he chatted with the crowd, made us laugh, and is just a genuinely warm and fine person. And at 61 yrs of age, his voice is clean and powerful and magnificent!! I feel so lucky - SO LUCKY - to have been able to see him!!

  • @ladyfuschia you lucky duck! i'm so very jelous !!! i saw genesis without peter, but equally fantastic!

  • @jaytotheell Look for Kansas City Starlight to see videos from the concert. Man! I'll never forget that night!!!

  • @ladyfuschia tks!

  • @jaytotheell The pleasure is all mine!! I have 2 VHS tapes of him in concert in the 90's. One in in Athens, directed by Martin Scorcese, and the other in Rome, with Paula Cole. I could probably be talked into making copies, as they are excellent shows and I like to share!! But you may be able to find them on Amazon, who knows. Well, enjoy the magnificent man and his music!!!

  • I like that grainy quality of his voice and note choice. However at times his voice can be very laser like.

  • обалденная песня и хороший музыкант.

  • Love It

  • He was meant to leave Genesis and be totally different from them with P.Collins. He was being criticized for getting all the attention with his 'crazy' artistic performance, and this way, he could be his own unique, passionate artist with no limits.

  • If you really like Peter Gabriel listen to the song "Beko". It will break your heart.

  • Awesome one of my favorites from Peter Gabriel.

  • How dare you be so beautiful?

  • You seen us berried in this shelter town (1984/1985), they when to do it to us again, you see. You only show us your Apathy and Hypocrisy! +JVA+

  • PETER WAS WHY GENESIS HAD A MORE RECLUSIVE/MYSTERIOUS FEEL ABOUT THEMSELVES BACK IN THE DAY-PETER GAVE GENESIS THAT ADDED DIMENSION...KINDA LIKE PINK FLOYD BEFORE THE WALL

  • Hey SussudioPGFan I remember you from a long time ago when I first came out here on you tube. It is so nice to see a familiar name out here. Thank you for posting this video. Peter Gabriel's music has always sent a message of unity between people of the world, a respect for nature, and a message of hope for the ever eternal quest for peace in the world, I like him a lot. Thank you so much again for the video. .^_^.

  • memories of CSI:NY's 5th season :)

  • I just LOVE this song

  • Peter has the coolest voice, he and Ferry I like a lot. Levin is amazing and a big part of his solo success.

  • @93Bukowski WOW REALLY.

  • It's not loud enough...this is one you have to rattle the walls and make the floor shake.

  • how about a movie of the lamb lies down ?- part live action / cartoon - think of the images - and what a soundtrack

  • This song still moves me. Such passion!

  • Red Rain is coming down... i'm begging you... red rain coming down.... John 19:34

  • @kynes333 your enlightened even in this wicked world.

    CoMe DoWn.

  • What magnificent lyrics...lyrics of which we`ll never hear in this day and age of "music"...

  • @chazshubby i couldn't agree more my friend

  • @smethious ......

    Hi.

  • I always REALLY LOVED this song!!!

    ThanK You. :)

  • One of my all-time favourite songs...absolutely beautiful...and yes, outstanding album...

  • This is one of the most brilliant pop albums of all time. I'm saying this as a 20 year old music fanatic

  • @lydianflatseven You should know then - and you're right. It's an awesome song.

  • 5 People don't like this video?! This is madness! No, this is an age of horrible, commercial, non-unique music.

  • If this song does not give you the goosebumps when you hear it...you have GOT to be dead. It is beautiful, moving, and sad all at the same time. Truly moving.

  • i want to cry when i hear this song......and i dont know why. Its a good song.

  • That's what we have on the Gulf Coast. Red Rain.

  • Apparently, this song was originally intended to be a theme song for a movie:

"Earlier in his solo career, Gabriel had an idea for a movie, Mozo. In it, villagers were punished for their sins with a blood red rain. "Red Rain" was to be the theme song."

I forgot about this song. It's so great!

  • Talk about all the singer/songwriters you want.....Peter Gabriel is among the best. Our generation has been honored to have the likes of Peter. I know his music touches me. Most artists would probably want their art to mean something to the people experiencing it. No matter his original meaning if it means something to you it's great.

  • Listen to Ill Nino - Red Rain

    It's a great cover!

  • The song is great! But I disagree with ubacam 'cuz Phil is much better.

  • @ABHGenesis They are both cool.

  • @ABHGenesis then u know shit about music

  • @BwhildBwhildB I know much more about music then you might think lol =)

  • @ABHGenesis neither of you 2 assclowns do

  • I played this one night, it made and influenced a short story I wrote there and then. It's published online.

I always liked Peter, great material. Various stories abound on just what this song is about.

  • I loved this song in 1986 (I was three fucking years old) and I love it today. OUTSTANDING, OUTSTANDING, OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Two & a half thumbs up.

  • Love it!

  • last one for this morning....Put it up loud!!!

  • very good

  • This, along with 'In your Eyes' are two of the most incredible songs of the 80's (and most other decades)

    Fantastic artist.

  • No song has ever given me the feeling inside my gut that this song has. The emotion and feeling put into this song is just incredible. It makes me feel as if all of my emtion is being pulled out of my body and brought out through the beauty of music.

It must be said, this song is one of a kind. There's no other like it.

  • I couldn't agree more. This is a monumentally brilliant song.

I must have heard this song a hundred thousand times, never tire of it, and I hear something different every time.

But I think Gabriel's music and your comment is best summed up by someone in the music press who wrote a review on his 'Us' album. He said: "Here, if you dare let it in, dare to listen closer, is music exorcism. Music to tear your fears out. Music to drown inside and still come up feeling better for it"

  • @SussudioPGFan, would you say that DVD is worth buying?

  • best ever

  • i love this song so much, it has an epic amount of emotion in it.

  • Just imagine if Genesis had made music videos when Peter Gabriel was in the band!!

  • @xeractus Actually they did! ;) *although they were more performance pieces*... Check out some of the Lamb Lies Down on Broadway footage.

  • @xeractus I love this song. I believe if it wasn't for our Jesus Christ the Lord.(God's Son) the sacrfices

he made for are enquities and sin. Thak God for a Redeemer.

  • @xeractus

    Yeah....just imagine.that..

    NOT...

    GENESIS.....the band...

would not listen to Peter Gabriel.....

    Where is GENESIS ~~now ~~ Anyway...ttt

  • @xeractus: I know right?

  • Red Rain, which started the So album and only got better from there. I love how Gabriel got the idea for this song, he is/was the man.

  • Stewart Copeland? Jerry Marotta is playing drums on this.

  • @monkeys55 on the album sleeve, copeland is credited for playing hi-hat. and that's all he plays. (he IS a master of the hi-hat!)

  • Peter should not be compared to Phil....both great vocalists.....phil played drums....well.

  • well genisis would have gone down a diffirent road if peter had stayed!

  • I admit I got like BOTH of that duo - Phil C + Peter G but would side with Peter, always top notch stuff and not afraid to be political.

  • I remember this song from Miami Vice.

  • This song made me instantly love Peter Gabriel.

    The intro is just... ahhh!

  • i heard sledgehammer - liked it

i heard big time and don't give up - liked it too

but when I heard RED RAIN, I was convinced to buy the record... VERY GOOD WORK

  • @shalomfan Try Here comes the Flood or Down side up

  • nah nah nah never better than phil

  • Never knew this had a video. Anyway just heard this on CSI NY and realised it's been a while since I last heard it. Very haunting song. I wonder sometimes if PG is unappreciated here in the UK...at least since his 80s heyday.

  • mmmmmmmmmmm

  • the percussion is always excellent in PG songs because he is a drummer-I love Peter but have to say Phil is my man. Saw Peter at a live show..front row.. excellent!

  • It a good song but annoying at the same time.Still Peter Gabriel is one of the best singer on the planet.Cheers

  • Peter, Genesis, Phil...rocks forever!

  • @snortbrick, I know that now. Geoffrey stole the canoe. It took a fortnight to walk upstream to a town. Had I used one of the Essential Elements, I would have been there in half the time. The Archer was an entertaining but costly detour.

  • @snortbrick You ARE Chicken the Magnificent! Thank you for the canoe. I have seen Geoffrey (The Archer) and his Love has transformed me. I now possess all of the essential elements.

  • @snortbrick OMG! Chicken is that you?!

  • Love this songggg :D

    Have the album! ♥

  • Have subscrobed and was hoping yu would do the same

Peter Gabriel brings back so many good memories

    Thanks

    Steve

  • Peter was the Genesis and provided the unique sound - Phil is not too bad - He has some interesting tunes, but post Genesis, Peter has done more for international music than Phil - it all depends.

  • Gran canción.

  • You can't choose between Phil and Peter.

  • Black Hawk Down...

  • I played this song a lot many years ago when I was chronically depressed and anxious. It had a cathartic effect on me. I've never seen this video before. When in those dark states I sometimes imagined sitting by a desert fire. It's interesting to me that the same imagery is in this video.

  • You know - it really is amazing (when you really think of it) how Stewart Copeland's genius met Gabriel's. But just for the hi-hats...

  • I wonder if he will team up with Kate Bush again - its long overdue!

  • gotta love that voice

  • Buenisimo video y Super canción, arreglos musicales excelentes.

  • Takes me back to a particular time in my life.

Jim Metcalfe, wherever you are.....you will always and forever be in my heart.

    ~Laura

  • yes me too - back to the 80s - the best time period of course :p

still powerful stuff even to this day.

I was watching Miami Vice and heard this, so being a child of the 80s I had to look it up :)

  • i have always related this song to the Chernobel disaster of '86. Gabriel talks of his dream and idea...maybe he was reliving the horror of the event in his psyche, who knows...great song and a brilliant album.

  • is tony levin playing on this,? Sounds like

    his stick......

  • @mickycee64

    He is

  • the NEW Peter Gabriel album "SCRATCH MY BACK" - out middle of February in Canada and Europe, beginning of March in the USA : )

  • This whole album was great!!!

    "So" 1986

  • @firstmusic00 it still is great & always will be.

  • @firstmusic00

agreed this is one of my favourite albums of all time!

  • geniale e senza tempo...unico Peter.

  • Comment removed

  • @ubacam Granted; but I always preferred them as Genesis.

  • certainly int he hair department for many years and Pete is still winning on that front :D

  • @ubacam Well I could never choose between the two of then. They have similar voices.

  • @ubacam No question about it. Phil is a good artist but Peter makes him look like an amateur.

  • @ubacam Really??? I honestly could NOT choose!

  • @ubacam i think peter is much better than phil--his stuff is much more deep and creative.

  • @derek4ur uh hell yea dude!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @93Bukowski What? :I

  • Comment removed

  • @TheVadiolukery Yeah..I know that. I'm saying..what the hell do you mean by "you discovered america!"?

  • Comment removed

  • @derek4ur He's a more interesting vocalist, as well.

  • @derek4ur

    apples-and-bananas

there are a couple of Phil Collin's songs that go very deep into ME.

more so with Peter Gabriel, yes.

  • @ubacam yeah team Peter ftw

  • @ubacam why compare to Phil.......just enjoy?

  • @ubacam

I think they are both individual geniuses but i feel Peter weaves in an incredible depth to his music, bringing it a little closer to the heart..

so therefore I say without pun we ourselves are living with red rain falling in this land of confusion.

  • @ubacam No way.....Yeah he makes good songs and has a very unique voice but dosen't even compare to Phil Collins :))

  • @TheJellybaby1988 if thats so then why does his comment have more thumps than yours?

  • @ubacam duuh :D

  • @ubacam , This song is great! But I disagree with you because Phil is much better.
