you video game Nerds grow up video game systems are done the next best thing will be virtual reality like lawnmower man the movie that type of virtual reality
I have a question though! If anybody can answer this, I'll love you forever.
Can you hook up a Sega 1 or 2, and a Sega CD 2 to a digital TV and get sound? My unit gets sound, but the CD does not. I've been fiddling with it, but no go.
Hey mate, I just bought one of these myself but it did not come with the cardboard inside that holds everything together. Are you able to put some photos up of just the card board so I can try and remake the card board insert? Also, what is that long black piece you pulled out next to the power pack? If you can help me out, it will be greatly appreciated. :)
And I like the manual best. I deliberately bought a new copy of the European Sega Mega Drive II manual despite owning the Asian Sega Mega Drive 2 system.
The Sega CD wasn't really overpriced. It was about $299. The Playstation 2 was the same price. But it's also a DVD player. Same with Sega CD. It was a CD player. CD players were still big deals back in 1992. When I got one, I also hooked it up to my kick ass speaker system and buffer and it was also my music center. And I liked CD+G discs too.
the SEGA CD came out in 1992. It was an Add On Device for the SEGA Genesis. Back then CDs could hold 600 MB, so the games had all sorts of things like Full Motion Video. However it was overpriced and the majority of the games were given very negative reviews. It was a big failure for SEGA.
Cool, i got a huge sega collection myself, and a lot of spare consoles for sale, if anyone wants to buy a mega drive or mega cd, or dreamcast , contact me. My ultimate sega object would be my sega hang on arcade machine, as seen in shen mue
The song sounds like Chemical Plant stage in Sonic 2 and also do I spy 2 Dreamcasts there? Oh and I see the fighting stick hopefully i can get one soon. Anyways wheres the Saturn XD?
Yes it is! The Saturn is still missing from my collection... the whole bunch of stuff only contains one game and a control pad for Saturn :< thats because here in Hungary Saturn was almost like "banned" or something, everyFUCKINbody loved that crap PS1. The postage is unbearable from the UK for a Saturn, so im waiting for the moment when i have enough money AND i find a good lot on ebay at the same time... one of these parts always seems to be missing.
You have to connect the Genesis, then give both the systems power via separate power adaptors. Then power on the Genesis, and wait for the SegaCD menu. Also dont forget any cartridges in the Genesis' slot. I know about a fuse, which can be damaged in the SegaCD and also can be changed easily, if it still isnt working, maybe thats the problem. But i have to read about it i hope ill find that site again...
I just bought a dead Mega CD (EURO Sega CD) and I removed the fuse (resistor like thing by the power jack on the PCB) and just bridged the pins with some solder. Worked great ever since. Might be best to replace it with a new fuse but honestly, I don't think it'll matter too much. Lasted a few years like this!
it powers up every once in a while, i mean it would turn on when i insert the sega genesis to it but the sega has to be on or else it won't work so if i plug it to sega cd and turned it on while plugged in it wont turn on the sega cd, also i got it on while hooked up to the tv and nothing would happen all you see is the tv going black because of the sega been on but no menu whatsoever from the sega cd, I'm also using an original power adapter from a sega genesis 1
i got mine today but its missing the cables, i was wondering if i could use a genesis power cord for it i have an extra one, it doesn't seem to want to work and what else would i need besides that to make it work?
I'm still trying to get a Mega CD for about 3 years now. But I have never seen one on Trademe or Ebay that has been never opened before. Nice find, mate.

The mega CD was almost the worst pile of overpriced shite ever. That and the 32X.

@dogeymon83 But the ps2 didn't require a ps1 , like how the Mega CD needed a Megadrive already.

@ Imcrgregoruk - True. I guess it was only a good deal if you just happened to already have a Genesis.

The second version SegaCD was crap. The first tray loading version was the best by far, especially for compatibility reasons.

would it be damaged then?
