  • What, no T & A ? Well done! Good to see a video with a little integrity.

  • I prefer Roger Miller

    but this is...

    ehh at least...

    good???

  • I had no idea they did a cover of this song.... very cool with the Scottish accent! :D

  • i prefer the boxcar willie versions but this isn't bad at all

  • I still prefer the Roger Miller version, but this is a delightful tribute to a classic song.

  • This is so adorable I can't even stand it

  • This came out a year before "the Darling Buds of May" was on TV, but putting THAT cast in this video would have been perfect...

  • Ha, two scottish guys singing to a hawaiian-esque melody. I like it.

  • @TomCruiseHere Hawaiian-esque melody? hmmmm

  • @TomCruiseHere Have you ever heard "Pineapple Princess", by Annette Funicello? It's a hoot.

  • @shmuli9 Thanks for the heads-up, I just checked it out. That's certainly a catchy tune. I'll probably be playing it in my head for the next few days.

  • Filmed in Australia ? by the look of the cars....old holdens ( GMH).

  • @abijag It LOOKS like Australia, but SOME of the cars have left side drive, so it COULD be somewhere in the American SW, too. Or (and I think this is the case) the director of the video was being purposefully vague...

  • This is definitely my favourite version of this song ! Great job !

  • good job !!!

  • Gosh,,How old are they here???

  • @geordiegirlnufc Mid 20's

  • @geordiegirlnufc They're 28 or so...

  • Kang of the Road... I love it! Listen all the way to the end. It gets even better! And the old cars, too cool!

  • @obiegirl98 that and "Union Dues"

  • they were the best:) when i was little i used to sing with the tv to their songs:)

greetings from malta u are the best:D

  • They sing a lot of songs about traveling.

  • While I like the original by Roger Miller, this version by these lads with their Scottish brogue is better!

  • Lolerz, we used to sing this song at school :P

  • LOVE IT! This song is adorable with a Scottish accent!

  • lmao this is hilarious

  • Haha! King of the Road in a Scottish dialect.

    Cool, LOL!

  • Love that Scottish accent ... terrific version [darling redheads too] !!!

  • Love Love Love these guys. I will be listening to the rest of their work. This version is incredible....so smooth.

  • @EverlyLove I am a huge fan of theirs too. They have such a way about them.

  • Haha...This is great! Totally faithful to the song! The accent gives it a great twist! GREAT video!

  • Skellngton, I agree, they seemed to be having fun with the song, just like Roger Miller did. If anything its a tribute.

  • @Versed2 I have heard that Roger Miller called them after he heard this, and gave it his stamp of approval.

  • that song is brilliant ^_^

  • wow! cant believe i never heard this version before! great version of a superb song :) foot tappin good stuff!

  • Comment removed

  • sounds a little blurry.. But I adore their version of this song, never liked it before...

  • stop on boys luv it luv it luv it sing it again and bop away like you do.

  • Proclaimers = giving us geeks/nerds a fighting chance in the media world!

  • GET ON FRANKY BOYLE

  • They did a fantastic job on this song! Loved it!

  • So geeky they are cool! Check out their other stuff-- some is beautifully melodic and lyrical.

  • Awesome song & they've done a fantastic job!!! Starting to prefer this one to Roger Miller's... love the accents. The Proclaimers ROCK!

  • @gardensummerland Good for you! you have an open mind-- I'm Scottish, and like you, I enjoy both versions, ( esepciallywhen I'm dancinga dlow foxtrot) but I was really surprised when The Proclaimers covered this. Much of their work is beautifully-written ballads. You should try them. I note that you are an American --their "Letter from America" is a cheerful lament( I know that sounds conradictory!) about Scottish emigrants leaving to settle in America.

  • great :D

  • omg i use to love this when i was younger, my dad reminded me and it still sounds so good! :L

  • That was fantastic!!!!!!! 7*

  • Do they even know where Bangor Me. is? lol..great cover!

  • Brilliant :-) Well done Proclaimers

  • They pull this off so brilliantly

  • Did they not do this as part of a benefit for Roger Miller?

  • The Proclaimers take on this classic song is brilliant , suits their style perfectly.

  • It does indeed, they are AMAZING in this, and it is reported that Roger Miller really liked their spin on it.

  • I like it with the Scottish accent. I just discovered these guys. I need to buy some of their music!

  • COOL BABYS! Big Daddy really digs this.

  • amazing!

  • nice glasses

  • I'm On My Way! Superb! You lads are superb! If Jedward do it i'll kick their arses lol yous have paved the way WITH Talent!

  • Not bad at all, but Roger Miller, Roger Miller & Johnny Cash, and Randy Travis & Josh Turner sing it better.

Still, not bad at all. I do like it..just sayin'.

  • dude don't worry man it's your opinion so only stupid people would act stupid on this but i think i agree with you

  • haha funny

  • Nice cars.

  • Great cover. It looks like it was filmed down under??? Any idea when and where???

  • Glasgow is the best part of Scotland, this is undeniable.

  • nah, I'd say Edinburgh.

  • NO!

  • yeah, I love Edinburgh. Apart from the dodgy drivers it's a good city.

  • @vincethemudkip They are from Edinburgh you weedgie arse.

  • @Errikksen yup...they're from leith and avid Hibs fans.

  • Craig, you looked so GORGEOUS then, and you still are!!!!!!!!!! your biggest LATIN fan, I. xxx

  • Good grief, can their accent BE any thicker?

  • makes it all the better.

  • that's not a thick Scottish accent. Theres way thicker.

  • @gregsky01 it's thicker when they actually talk but ya there still is thicker

  • Jaysuss chrrrryst, cun hahdlay undarstand 'em...

    (GREAT version)

  • really? , you cant understand the scottish accent , i guess your not scottish

  • mon the Fifers

  • such a great version of an old chart topper here in the US of A. I had no idea these guys did this song....

The thing that sticks in my mind is one of the very FEW movies of the 90's worth a damn.

I surely hope these gents are still out and about making music.

  • indeed they are, I will get to see them in Seatlle on Sept 22! They put on a FABULOUS show!

  • This Song

    King Of The Road

    By The Proclaimers

Is Good And I Do Liked To Hear This Song And All Radio Stations Should Play

This Song Now On Their Station So All

People Can Hear This Good Song

  • Is this a cover or the original?

  • this is a cover anda very good one at that

  • Its a cover - the original is by Roger Miller from 1965. (This is a great cover though.)

  • cover

  • it's the cover, the original was from roger miller

  • The Proclaimers are great!

  • I agree, they are the best!

  • you're a gay boy

  • why are some people so rude,i just asked some thing, and i get call a "dickhead",just becos i have need heard of these fellas,i'm73 years old, i have never seen these jocks, and whats 500 miles got to do with any thing ?

  • 500 miles is another song they sing.

It's the 6th video down on the Related Video section to the right. You should listen to it, it's pretty good.

  • .......... :(

  • they are class

    dickhead

    ever heard of 500 miles?

    they wrote that

  • It's kinda rude to call someone a dickhead for asking a question.

  • wat year wass that

  • Love the proclaimers, think they did a wonderful job but I have to say Dean Martin is the one who makes me smile when I hear/ watch him sing it.

  • Great remake....american hobo song with a wee bit of a scots accent. Ya gotta love it....

  • yup.. its git a good feeling to it

  • man i love old songs XD i thing thet THE PROCLAIMERS rocks !!! well im wrong but they shore are the best singers of Scotland... you can hear thet when they sing... they sing whit hard and love to music!

    Gritings from Slovenia

  • Enjoyed that version, but I don't know if it comes close to Josh Turner and Randy Travis.

  • Oh my gosh,I love this, even better than the orignal :O)

  • I know right...

  • I LOVE IT!!!! Some re-makes suck, but these guys did a great job. Not that I'm saprized. They seem to make music for the love of the music and not to be shocking. Bound to make great stuff with that kind of motivation.

  • You hit the nail on the head! Lots of people don't get these two. I see you do.

  • cool KING OF THE ROAD rockstar

  • thats coz there fucking scottish same natiionalty as me

  • great, much better than roger miller, was he the man who played soccer for cameroon in the world cup

  • Love the accents these guys are great-

  • It has been said that Roger Miller liked this version a lot.

  • It's funny...I like the original, but I actually like this version better, and I'm an american..guess I just have a bit o' a preference for the Sco**ish achcesnt(srry to all scots out there for the txt version of my impression of the accent)

  • lol the proclaimers can also do smooth jazz

  • bloody marvellous!

  • Just COOL! Love it!

  • this is just so smooth

  • I love this version of the song. I think they did a great job. I grew up listening to Roger Miller sing it, and I think he would even give em props! Cheers!

  • I think it's charming. I grew up with my Dad singing this song when he was good and drunk - or playing Boxcar Willy's version.

  • While this is not a bad version, the Proclaimers just do not capture the feeling of the original.

The Roger Miller & Johnny Cash version is just timeless & this fails to capture that feeling.

  • It certainly is different. I enjoyed listening to it. Once.

  • I loved it. And I do mean it in the past tense. It was a hit when I was in my teens. God bless.

  • love the lads c,mon the hibees xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • As a non scot and a non yank but a scouser,i got to say, this song rocks, love these guys and there voice's,so there you all go.A+++++++

  • As a Scot can I just say...Good on ya mate. And here's to Liverpool's big year ahead.

  • LOVE IT !!!!!

  • And as a genuine Scot in Scotland, I would love to punch you in the face for saying The Proclaimers screwed up this song. They did a fantastic job on this song, and I'm pretty damn sure I'm not the only person who loves it.

  • @SkellingtonSkullz Sorry, I'm a sass...but they DID NOT fuck this up...

    This stirs me...

    I've moved a fair bit...

    "I AIN'T GOT NO CIGARETTES!"

  • @SkellingtonSkullz Wiv ya, awesome version...

  • Go fuck yourself, the proclaimers rock, bet you're a redneck

  • The Scottish tongue gives this song an AMAZING sound and feel... Just sounds so much better than the original.

  • scottish tongue or not..they just sang it much smoother than roger miller..roger is amazing but this version rocks

  • agreed

  • @proud2beawildcat211 after 44 years listening to Roger Miller, I can't argue with you. I'm hooked.

  • Thanks for posting I had been looking for this video for ages- -definitely the coolest geeks on the planet!
