I was worried about getting this because of the lack of buttons. But the shortcuts and customization's make it a lot easier. although 720p it does get the job done. IQ on this camera is awesome though. barely any noise on ISO 1600. Plus 500 w/ a 16mm prime whuut. I couldn't resist it. Don't regret it. Fun when you don't wanna bring ur huge ass dslr to coffee joint with ur friends. :) juss sayin

@oleg1981 I'd say the C3 over the older 5 (unless you meant the new 5N). The sensor is a bit better (16mp vs 14mp) and I believe the noise at high ISO's is better. you can compare at dxomark dot com. My plan is get the C3 & 16mm kit for $499. That's about the price of a tiny-sensor nice compact like the Canon S100 or the other enthusiast cams with sensors that are 10-20% the size of the C3/5N/7. Then with more glass get the NEX 7 and have the C3 as a great "take anywhere" camera.

I'm getting a C3 cheap ($499 with 16mm kit lens, $549 w/ 18-55mm kit lens). That's the price of a tiny sensor "enthusiast" camera so will at least be much better than that.

I ended up getting a C3, was going to get a T3i but it's a bit too large and costs a couple hundred more CAD$. Performs nearly the same, small, pretty inexpensive. Learned the menu in <150 shots. I thought the E-PM1 would be better than it is; it's very pretty, but the screen is awful. C3 has fantastic high ISO quality. Could be a bit quieter, would be nice if they made more lenses. All in all, quite happy with it so far. Great for typical users I'd say.

I like how there are quite a number of apologists for Sony voting up pro-Sony comments. It's a review, all reviewers have biases, and they make it clear in their reviews the stuff they like and don't like. Apologists themselves have their own bias towards the brand they hold near and dear to their hearts.

Hoping noise from ISO400 to useless ISO12800 isn't because of the censor and will be much improved with a firmware update.

Bought this camera and is very disappointed with the amount of noise it produces with ISO above 400 in bright areas and get's tremendously worse in dim areas. Flash and tripod are a MUST for indoors. Note: This camera does not have built in anti-shake. Something which people may overlook assuming all sony cameras has it built in. Pictures under ideal conditions are very very good. Colors, contrast are good. Sharpness could be better, blamed it on the non anti-shake 16mm lens and shaky hands.

Kai, you dont have to buy sony 3d tv to view 3d pictures made with this cam, you can also view images on panasonic as i do. Image format used by sony is a stanard for 3d images, in fact there are 2 jpeg images saved into the single file.

I found the 18-55 lens fairly solid. Variety is definitely a problem, though. There's no macros, no dedicated telephotos... MFT needs more lenses too, but it has more variety and isn't locked into one camera maker.

@mikeismad61 I think people miss the point of these types of cameras, if Fuji released the X100 to compete with mirco 3/4s & the Nex they definitely have. I actually think Fuji's camera is more of a poor man's Leica (although a poorman wouldn't be able to afford one).

4 of the 10 best selling SLR cameras last year were MILCs in Japan, so I sure Nikon & Canon are bound to take them more seriously. But it may be the case that Pansonic Olympus and Sony become the Nikon and Canon of this market.

The good thing about all Sony & other MILC is you can use of almost all the "good glass" in the world, from Kai's beloved Leica glass to Canons EOS lenses using the third-party lens adapters, which the NEX range is by far the best at. And Sony will release more lenses so don't worry & start saving.

If your NEX was useless before it definitely wont be with a Leica lens on it. Lets see Kai doing a video using a NEX with good glass.

It actually is the smallest MILC (mirrorless interchangeable lens camera) with at least an APS-C size sensor, which is actually the standard size sensor of a DSLR. The "smallest MILC" is a one with a micro four thirds sized sensor not a APS-C sized sensor. The sensor in this Sony range is almost twice the size of a micro four thirds camera and is actually bigger than any APS-C sensor in Canons DSLR range

good point about lens availability. Pentax cameras have the advantage, as do leica, that their most recent cameras can use their least recent lenses. I live on a rusty leaky old houseboat and since needing to sell my epson rd1 and leica 35, to afford some repairs, I would love a pentax k7 or k5 because they are very rugged and damp proof and I could get reasonable lenses at bargain prices. perhaps an interesting shoot for you, the rugged waterproofness and the vintage-lens-ness of pentax?

I like how Kai dosn't mention the Peaking function which makes it along with all the other NEX cameras the best manual focus EVIL cameras on the market for anyone who likes adapting lenses from ANY OTHER SYSTEM.

Not to mention, Micro 4/3s are lucky to get a better body much less sensor and Kai seems to not care one bit.

I hate it how kai is sooooo biased about products that come from companies that he doesn't like. He chooses the most minor details and makes them seem as though they really are a big problem. Seriously, I don't think it's bad that you can't view the sweep in #D on the camera considering the fact that Sony is pretty much the only manufacturer that provides that feature. Honestly, the main thing I watch these videos for is entertainment, as do most people, but kai's opinions could confuse others..

People wanna snap and show it to their friends via the LCD screen on the camera. Not invite them to your house and issue them each a 3D glass and sit down to view your pictures.

Maybe Sony should team up with Nintendo and use their 3D screen from 3DS on the camera. Only then, this will be a blast!
