  • @TheComdianFromUK Jibster94 is right, you are an idiot

  • great song!!!

  • Jigolo and jiglet?

  • @TheComdianFromUK

hahaha btw you are an idiot

  • @TheComdianFromUK

this is not the same song

  • If Tony Bennett did Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" it would be horrible, and if Green Day did this "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" it would also be horrible. The songs have absolutely nothing in common other than the title. Well, that and they're both very good in their own way. But please, for the musical gods' sake, let Tony be Tony and let Green Day be Green Day!

  • @danning1 Thanks, I have been tying to get this across ever since the first letter that brought up Green Day which I had never heard of and hope to never hear about them again.

  • 16 people are lady gaga fans

  • What a powerful voice, simply beautiful

  • I prefer El Boulevar de los Sueños Rotos...

    but this one's fine...

  • @LN1992 I had never heard of your singer so I looked him up on Youtube. I don’t understand Spanish but he does have a good voice. But the song does not sound anything like Tony’s song. Maybe the words when translated mean the same but the music and interputation is different so I don’t know how you can compare them.

  • whos greenday?

  • haha, Tony Bennett kicks Green Days ass, it's sad that so few know about this song.

It's a great way to troll, I have this on my ipod and it always leads to funny stuff.

Well, that is when poeple actually borrow it, it's filled with too much "weird" (read old) music. :(

  • SME? restricted this from playing in playlists, now.... my morning groove will forever be disturbed... D:

  • There's no way in the world that Green Day just "came up" with that title. Someone had heard this song, or at least heard OF this song. But so what?

My favorite version of this is a parody by Jonathan & Darlene Edwards (Paul Weston and Jo Stafford). If you can find it, you'll laugh out loud.

Did Mitch Miller bring Tony to Columbia and pick his songs?

  • @LShackley In thoes days Mitch picked the songs But if you were one of his big stars like Frankie Laine was you had input and could talk him out of it. Tony didn't want to record the next song that was given to him but he was not yet a star so Mitch got his way. The song was "Cold Cold Heart" that big city Tony was to country. Rosemary Clooney was told she could sing the song he picked for her or go out the door. This was her first hit "Come Along To My House"

  • utterly brilliant

  • Goodfellas brought me here!!

  • That song just gave my ear an orgasm.

  • Why compare two songs just b/c of their name, that is SILLY. They are two TOTALLY different artist, and the songs were written 70yrs apart... Really? People come on. I don't hate the Green Day song, I really like it, BUT I love this song too, they are COMPLETELY different, don't compare them, PERIOD.

  • @thewordthatpierces Thanks, I've been trying to say this since I posted this song. I had never heard of Green Day

before people started writeing in and I don't think Green Day had ever heard of Tony's song when they recorded their recording. What people don't seem to understand is that there are a lot of songs with the same name that have nothing to do with each other. You can;t copywright a song title.

  • @markalson1938 EXACTLY! lol :D:D:D

  • I'm only 18 so of course I heard of the green day song first, but when I heard this song OMG! I could listen to the Tony Bennett song 50 times every day and never have enough! It's such a beautiful song! It kicks Green Day's A**!

  • @xpointlessxfunx always glad to see the young with a taste for good music

  • @xpointlessxfunx Lol 24 here and I know exactly what you mean.

  • @XXDarkMewtwoXX No, you just don't know real music when you hear it....

  • gah green day you suck for ripping this off

  • Green Day has a song that is also called "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" but it is lousy. This one was written in 1934 by Harry Warren and Al Dubin for the 1934 movie "Moulin Rouge" and recorded in the 1950s by both Tony Bennett and Nat King Cole. In my opinion this song is far superior to the Green Day song that has the same title.

  • @BW92116 If you have been reading the comments posted to this song you will note that I have been trying to make this point for months. Till I posted this song I had never even heard of Greenday or their song of the same name.

  • Well I love it!!! It is my favorite tb song

    I love the castanetes

  • this song is not green day??

  • @greendaynonfiction WHO EVER SAID IT WAS, THIS SONG WAS WRITTEN OVER EIGHTY YEARS BEFORE THERE WAS A GREEN DAY AND THIS RECORDING WAS MADE A GOOD 60 YEARS BEFORE ANYONE EVER HEARD OF GREEN DAY AND IT ISN'T THE SAME SONG. I NEVER EVEN HEARD OF GREEN DAY BEFORE PEOPLE WHO CAN'T REMEMBER ANYTHING PAST THE 21ST CENTURY STARTED WRITING IN ABOUT THIS SONG.

  • @greendaynonfiction no shit its better

  • Have a listen to this song on YT sung by Robert Earl. Recommended.

  • @bramblehoney Yes I know who Robert Earl is, I lived in England for a number of years in the early Seventies. They played him quite a bit on the BBC and I liked his singing he had a Fifties Big Voice sound. I don't hink he was better than Tony's version but he was right up there.

  • I love when Amy did it in Italy. :)

  • I love this song. I agree it's under-appreciated.

  • This man is Mr. Entertainment, what a voice!

  • nice

  • who else was brought here by goodfellas?

  • can't get enough of this song

  • tHIS SONG CHARTED IN CASHBOX JULY 8 1950 AT 33 TONY BENNETT IS LISTED WITH OWEN BRADLEY

  • @concord1946 the difference between the charts of Billboard and cashbox back in 1950 is Billboard charted the individual recordings and Tony's recording did not make it. Cashbox added all the recordings of a song to show the popularity of the song.

  • kill me

  • what the hell is this?

  • Original song, green day made it better

  • @luigiandmario2 green day didnt make it better they are different songs just with the same name

  • @luigiandmario2

    Greenday fucking sucks.

  • @insanity401 i don't give shit if you like game songs and your life is only bb gun. I'm just saying green day made it better.

  • @luigiandmario2

And i dont give a shit if your an ignorant fucking cunt who cant tell the difference between two different songs. Honestly go fuck yourself, greenday fag.

  • @luigiandmario2 Bloody Korean...what do YOU know about songs written in English? This is 70 years old, yet legendary Amy Winehouse knew it was STILL cool to include it in her set. Can't imagine Green Day's tepid little indie ditty lastin half that.

  • @luigiandmario2 srry for the troll, u knew that rite?

  • Well I'm glad that there is someone who knows the difference

  • Green Day's version is much better. Nah I'm just trolling, I know they're two completely different songs :)

  • Classic Song. Sad that it didn't get as much popularity as it deserved.

  • ...THIS ISN'T GREEN DAY!

  • F.I.Y. Leslie Cheung's verison of this song is way better than this.

  • Tony Sings It!

Now listen to two different organists of old play it. First listen to the Wurlitzer electronic virtuoso John LaDuca "Mr. Fantastic" play a very interesting version on the YT upload:

Mr. Fantastic and the Wonderful World of Wurlitzer

It's about the 4th cut in. He used the 'pitch shift' lever located at the left edge of the volume pedal to mimic the violin bends on his Wurlitzer 4500 transistor organ.

    Also see-

Brad Swanson and his Whispering Organ - Boulevard of Broken Dreams

  • Perhaps Tony could cover the Green Day version ;)

  • That is NOT...Green Day...

  • After months of searching, I've FINALLY found the song I fell in love with on the Apprentice advert!

  • This song has been stuck in my head for the last 6 hours so I had to go on youtube and listen to it to get rid of it. Good song though.

  • The Great Amy Winehouse recently added this great tune to her repertoire. She sang it in her recent tour to Brazil. Wonderful

  • AMAZING!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Don't get me wrong I like Tony Bennett... doing the right tunes.

But do yourself a favor and listen to Diana Krall at

    youtubecom/

    watch?v=-5YbG0tL17I&feature=related

  • Unquestionably this song is truly beautiful, Though i've been watching the video with all the wonderful pictures of Tony Bennett with much joy aswell :)

    Cheers for posting

  • Yes. This is epic. Wud love it if there was a DnB version! i know.. wootpy f-n doo! lol GO TONY!

  • billie joe armstrong looks so much better without guyliner on doesn't he

  • @topcat2726 r u kidding me he loox waaaaaay bttr w/ the EYEliner on

  • lol i thought this was gonna be a tony bennet cover of a shitty green day song. far superior.

  • @ericplayzbass2

Shame on you....why would Tony Bennett cover Green Day??

  • I love that second picture!

    Classy!

  • Oh this is lovely, such a catchy beat and tune!

I'm a Green Day fan [and I'm a teenager, yes], and I happened to stumble across this.

<3 It is truly nice to listen to old music like this again.

My parents were born in the end of the 50's and when I was little they would just put this sort of good music on the cassetes in the car haha!

  • Only heard this song recently and I thought it sounded very much like a Scott Walker song. I'm a big fan of Scott Walker and now it seems I mught become a Tony Bennett fan too!

  • @booboyBL To tell you the truth I had never heard of Scott Walker. I looked him up on You Tube. He has a good voice but I didn't care for the songs he was singing.

  • CARACA! PArece o anroniol bandeiraaspelado,,,uii

  • Love it

  • WTF! THIS SONG SUCKS WAT THE FUK DUS GIGOLETTE MEAN this mans a dumbass

  • @MrPissbag Gigolette is a female gigolo.

Here's a tip for you, if you don't know what a word is, you can 'google' it! Amazing. Do you know how to google?

    Also, STOP SHOUTING!

  • @booboyBL nah i dont no how to google OF COURS I DO IS MY USER NAME FOREST FUCKING GUMP!?!?!?!

  • @MrPissbag shut the FUCK UP.

  • @curiousgeorgmuncher thats wat i sed 2 ur mom last nite!

  • @MrPissbag

Seriously, gtfo? If you dont have a proper taste of music or cant show some respect to this great artists who sung this wonderfull song you shouldnt be on this side of youtube.

  • @Deadhuntah i came to this side of youtube cus this song is such a joke i have mistaken it for the comety catigory of youtube

  • @MrPissbag no sir, you are the dumbass

  • Gigolette!!

  • What a tune, brilliantly sung

  • Just found my audition song for show choir next year. C:

Oh, and to the adults that think that kids' music is obnoxious/awful, there are teens that appreciate the older music as well. I know that I, for one, wish I could have been in your generation to hear that kind of music all the time.

  • Lol! this song is beautiful im 17 and can appreciate it. would have liked this when i was 13 its epic to dance to with the lovely ladies. this guys lyrics kick ass.

  • Great song, and a great strict tempo tango.

  • @petethelabourer I second that... great tempo for tango

  • Terrific song and great tango too.

  • listening to this on dancing with the stars. this song is amazing.

  • @caryndenean17 Whow, now the song is on "Dancing With The Stars" after being on the "Apprentice". You know this song went 60 years almost unnoticed, now it seems everyone is using it.

  • @markalson1938 This was on Goodfellas. What are you talking about 60 years? More like 20! LOL

  • @TheLAKERSareGodsTeam This recording was made in 1950

which I think if I count right is well over 20 years. It may have been on Goodfellas

but it was not recorded for that show.

  • @markalson1938 but it was on Goodfellas.

  • @TheLAKERSareGodsTeam What I said was, "It May Have Been On Goodfellas"

But it was Recorded Just For Goodfellas" This is a Old Old Song that was written way back in the thirties and recorded by Tony several times in the fifties. The first time was in 1950. This recording I believe came from 1952.

  • @markalson1938 yes, but it was on Goodfellas.

  • So Tony Bennett and Green Day used the same song title for a song. Big deal.

  • @joeswfc2007 Tony didn't use the same song title, he didn't write the song, it was written way back in the thirties. He just recorded it in 1950. Green Day used the same title over two decades after tony's recording.

  • @markalson1938 My bad, didn't know that. People just seem to be making a big deal over a song title though, it annoys me.

  • THE APPRENTICE :P

  • this is what i call real music, not that stupid green day crap

  • This version did not chart but

In 1934, it was a # 6 hit for Jan Garber

Sung in the film "Moulin Rouge" by Constance (no relation) Bennett

Words by Al Dubin and Music by Harry Warren

  • @delalyn This recording didn't chart because it those days the charts only went to the top 30 recordings. It got a lot of air time on the radio back then and I;m sure it would have been in the top 40 if they had gone that far. Yes Garber's was the only charted version of the song but his was more of a crooning rendition nothing like Bennett's.

  • pure quality!!!! :-D

  • this is just a brilliant song!

    suits the apprentice advert!

I swear it was used on scd too

  • Epic song, just great

  • who cares theres another song with a similar name??????

yes loving this on that advert

a lot of folk will know the name of 'tony bennett' but not necessarily know any of his 'music'

so any exposure - wont do any 1 any harm

now 4 some radio play eh?

  • I had not heard this song before the BBc Trailer for the Apprentice and the Greenday /Utada Hikaru version is a different song .

  • I first heard this on Muppets Tonight on the Tony Bennett episode when Sal was rejected by Johnny Fiama. I love all types of music, but I hold a soft spot for 50s jazz/Ratpack.

  • I'm really enjoying hearing this on The Apprentice trailer - I was beginning to think the BBC only employed twits under the age of thirty who wouldn't recognise class or talent if it sat up and bit them on the bum. Much prefer the vitality and punchiness of this version to the smoothie one Tony B's done with dreary hanger-on Sting. Thank heavens for the recording process, eh? Think of what would pass us by otherwise. Nice to discover a hitherto unkown gem.

  • @badham31 same here

  • im only 14 and i love this song, heard it on the apprentice advert... its awsome

  • @badham31 that is exactly my story!!!!! I heard it on the apprentice advert and went to hear the full version on YOUTUBE. I had never heard this song before - and I'm 38 !!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • lyrics anyone?

  • @jmpmcd Google them.

  • i LOVE this song <3 thank you apprentice for putting this song in your advert! btw markalson1938 teenagers can still like music like this and not like 'kiddy Rock Junk' :) i know because i'm 14.

  • Regardless of who wrote it, sang it, or gonna sing it.

Tony was the only artist to popularize it.

And is still the best version. Just ask Alan Sugar.

Now there's a man you can’t argue with.

  • This version is currently being used to advertise the return of 'The Apprentice' on BBC1....Thats why I looked it up on youtube....Brilliant Tony Bennett..

  • @special197 same

  • green days is a completely different song

  • This sounds very similar type feel to Dean Martin-Sway

  • Fantastic voice

  • I'm with you "Love0me0dearly". Heard it on the Apprentice add - absolutely love it!.

Love Tony Bennett anyway - to me he's the best - end of!

  • I heard this on The Apprentice advert lol fell in love with it instantly lol xx

  • Love0me0dearly

Ditto, I always think of Jack Vettriano's dancing paintings when i hear this. Look at his paintings whilst listening to this and you'll know what i mean.

    The two complement one another.

  • This song is actually from TONY's album and not the original version of this wonderful song. Boulevard was a medium hit for Tony in 1950.

  • as an artist, taking a classic and modernerizing it (i made that word up yo) is genious. my first composition was a varriation on satin doll, though you cant tell. or can you? idk but its on my channel.

  • green day made a song like this but in their words and in their version

  • @kendarycp

    1. This is not the song by greenday it is different

2.Why do you capatilise almost every word?

3.If you think this is the same song as the one greenday sings, you are deaf.

4.You have no idea what you are talking about.

  • @kendarycp Tony Bennett didn't write this song. Tony didn't write

songs he sang them. There used to be a difference. The song was written in 1933 by

Al Dubib and Harry Warren. It has been pointed out on this page many times Green Days song is a different song from Tony's.

  • This song is fantastic and much better than Green Day's song by the same name (in my humble oppinion, at least). Not to say I don't like the Green Day song, just saying that this better.

  • @NothingSpecail I don't know why anyone would try to compare

this song with a song by Rock Group over a generation later which the only thing they have in command is the name. But as you can see by the commits listed here there are many trying to do it.

  • nice

  • im 17 and love led zeppelin an eric clapton and im a guitarist but i still like music like this and anything else that sounds good

  • how could u even compare tony bennet to green day? green day is just another shitty mainstream rock band.

  • @xM3F

but the song and the lyrics are completely different, so how can tey even be compared?

  • @xM3F yeah well tony bennet is just another one of those crappy 1930's singer that only all of you would listen to..

  • @xM3F there are people who will compare... don't mind them lol

  • both Green Day's BOBD n Tony's BOBD r good. love them. :D

    (ok im a 17 yr-old teen.)

  • i can't believe this people!!!!

look "punks" you are not anything else than a product of the music market, and if you want to talk about punk Green Day is way the last band to hear, sorry kids but that group of boys are selling a product and its cheap workless and very crapy. . . i like punk music, but REAL punk music, im a anarchist also and all that shit. . . guys this men knows how to sing and real talent is the same yesterday and today. . . please be smart please

  • Final thing I'm saying: I'm flagging this!

  • You know what? You're a punk and how on EARTH can you stand this music. If you're wondering why I'm still here it's because I want to tell you how awful you and this music is. All else I want to say is that you're a punk, this music sucks and you suck!

  • @Gesni1 Dude get off the computer. Isn't the Greenday version an example of how much they sold out anyways? Greenday today is about as punk as Blink 182. You're probably thinking "wait blink 182 is punk.". If you are then you're more of an idiot.

  • You know what? You're a punk and how on EARTH can you stand this music. If you're wondering why I'm still here it's because I want to tell you how awful you and this music is. All else I want to say is that you're a punk, this music sucks and you suck!

  • markalson1938 and this music sucks

  • markalson1938 and this music SUCKS!

  • Why don't you listen to some 21 century music not 1900 music and you will hear songs that are way better than this CRAP LIKE YOU!

  • @Gesni1 Dude, you're lame. Go get ready for school or something... it starts for you kids next week.

  • @Gesni1 Rip Off, This song was written and the recording was made several Decades before that punk group Green Day ever saw the light of day. SO HOW CAN IT BE A RIP OFF? So go somewhere else on You Tube and lisen to the PUNKS play with themself and leave the real music to the adults who still remember what music is supose to sound like.

  • @markalson1938 Talking into the Wind.

    Why bother!

    Cheers.

    from,

    del-boy

  • @markalson1938 whoa whoa whoa, i agree this dude is pretty off, but punk is pretty good i hate it when ppl discriminate other genres, i like everything from mozart to manson

  • @markalson1938

Damn right, great to hear a real singer. Stay lucky.

  • @markalson1938 man shut up u pussy ass bastard green day fucking rules the reason we dont like this kind of shit so-called music is cus we like cool stuff im 13 be-ach an this may have ben good music bak in the day wen u and jesus sung this together with the dinosaurs n shit but evryone from those old days but u r dead ur not an adult ur just a overgrown kid now shut ur old crusty lil mouth up cus the only thing u need it for is to kiss my ass an if u hate green day...well pucker up bitch!
