I would save money and get a regular LS460L AWD. If you really need to show off and get the 600 than fine, but you don't really gain much of anything: Battery takes trunk space, you'll NEVER make up the price difference, and you can get everything in the 460. I'd personally take a 2010 Mercedes S550 over them anyways though, the S400 Hybrid is a (relatively) more logical car than the Lexus hybrid.

And I was slightly wrong:the emissions are'nt lesser than prius but so impressive for an engine this size that the judges were forced to give the environment-friendly certificate to the S over prius.But I did some research and amazingly a 2.0l VW diesel engine HAS lower emissions than prius & civic hybrid.Apparently diesel engines are far more environment-friendly than petrols with an added advantage of massive torque.Wonder why they don't make diesel hybrids???

Stop acting like a hater! The S-Class can't touch the Lexus. I've owned both, and there is absolutely no comparison. Especially since Mercedes are now made in Brazil among other places. The only Euro that can probably come close is the Audi. Mercedes and BMW were once on top, but not any more. Lexus has taken the top spot and I'm sure they won't lose it like their predecessors. As a matter of fact, Lexus has set it's sight on cars like the Maybach. S-Class & BMW aren't even a factor anymore.

German brands now are all about just "brand name" and nothing else. Look at Merc, their reliability is sometimes even worse than Ford or GM, and that is seriously no laughing matter.

Toyota did some investigation before they sell Lexus, and one thing they found out about Merc and BMW was that they were EXTREMELY unreliable. Today, Lexus is the most reliable luxury car on planet, and the best selling luxury brand in the US for 8 years in a row.

One more thing-I love LEXUS and I'm NOT a german!!You should learn to accept both the advantages and shortcomings.Indeed Lexus cars are extremely reliable but the mechanical aptitude of the germans(europeans for that matter[I'm an Asian,mind you]) is better than that of japanese.That is to say they make better engines(AMG,M-series,S-line),e­tc.The japanese are good at electronics and it shows but their performance parts seem left out(transmission,suspension,ch­assis,safety).

I'm telling the following to you as a friend(no hard feelings) so don't feel bad.You must have been inside the S-class,so you must have seen the cleanliness of the dash and everything else(not as many buttons as the options it gives you).Now compare it with the Lexus which is over clustered with buttons not because it offers more,but because all features on offer are on buttons.The germans have integrated all controls in the screens controlled by a knob resulting in smooth dashboards.

The LS is noisy at high speeds and has a lot of wind noise(surprising for a car this expensive)which means you don't want to open the windows at high speeds or you won't be able to listen to the music even at high volume!!This isn't the first LS made by lexus and it has never happened before,yet they make such mistakes!

Man,I think you're overthinking.I'm saying just bring down the power window at high speeds and you'll hear a wooshing sound which is'nt there in mercs.The aerodynamics of the car are such that the air is forced to move around the window area.Actually that's something I've read about LS600 and might be incorrect.Another thing,this ain't scientifically impossible:all supercars are without wind noise(which provides for huge performance inhibiting drag force).Obviously,nobody wants that happening!!

aakash I don't think lexus manufacturers had "window-wind-noise-reduction-a­t-high-speeds" on their agenda when designing their cars (is it even that necessary?) Maybe Mercedes designers were thinking, "hmmm let's say a guy is driving 230kmph & all of a sudden wants a smoke so he rolls down his window & is irritated by noise"... I don't think lexus people even cared about that. Besides There isn't even much opportunity to drive that fast in Japan without risking detection by those police sensors.

Lexus cars are like remakes of audi,merc,bmw except that they don't look as sophisticated as the europeans(I'm an asian,mind you).The dash interface is bland and clustered and similar to the previous gen of merc S.The present gen of european cars takes those infinite buttons and puts them in one single TV interface(COMAND in merc,i-Drive in bmw)which immensely improves the neatness of the dash.Indeed Lexus IS an overpriced,overfeatured toyota which doesn't know the meaning of luxury!!

The German brands, notably MB, have virtually given us 3/4 of all automotive inventions, literally. Lexus doesn't innovate, they perfect existing technology. Hyrbids were showcased by Audi/VW in 1985 but a lack of demand and interest meant the project was stopped. Furthermore hybrids have been around since the early 20th century. The German navy used hybrids (subamrines) in 1906 for crying out loud. IS-F? What's so special about the IS-F? It's an M3 clone with Yamaha engine tuning. LF-A? LOL

And who cares if a car parks itself? You can get such an option on a lowly VW Touran. If you can't parallel park then you shouldn't be driving. Of course the LS600h pulls away silently at low speed, it's powered by an electric motor at this stage. Try driving one on the Autobahn at high speed and this thing is noisy as hell. Go read CarEquipe review of the LS600h when they took it on the Autobahn. At 130 mph it was noisy and the high speed handling suffered because of the excess weight.
