I've this guitar also , and it is a great piece of work. Everytime I play it, it keeps suprising me. It's a very basic, yet all round guitar. Looks great, sounds great, smells great.

I play mainly open chords, and bar chords.

Ive been in total crackhead mode lately, and you cant beat this dx1

The taylor big baby and 110 are better looking guitars for around the same price but for an all around guitar the martin blows taylor away in my opinion. The feel of the martin is unlike any other.

i have not messed with any yamahas or ibanez

some people like yamahas and ibanez's better, more bang for the buck so they say. i don't know, i like my € 150,- morgan, lol, but i'd deffinetly want one of those dx1's!

hey man. i was thinking about picking up a Martin DX1 as my first acoustic guitar. I have been playing electric guitar for about a year now..and just wanted to get into something a little different..not dropping electric..just expanding if you will..would you recommend this as my first acoustic guitar?

hey, i would definately recommend it. this guitar, and the smaller bodied 000X1 are great guitars. the dx1 in particular still sounds great. it depends what style you want to play, whether it's just strumming, flatpicking or fingerpicking, but this is a great all-round guitar

I normally use Martin SP custom lights, not exactly sure what numbers that is but they work well for me
