well thanks to hugh laurie to show me this great and endless music and great artists,i'm descovering everytime a great songs and again thanks to hugh laurie the one and only great actor in this decade
@juvenal660 What the HELL are you on about?? i said Hugh Laurie brought me here telling me how great this song was (thats why i said he had a GREAT music taste) - i dont understand how that is pathetic ??
This song was the one that rocketed Ray into fame and fortune back in the early fifties. He was primarily a Blues singer, and this is one his best ever. This rendition is the original. I have the 45, part of my huge collection of doo wop.
my first love was at 11, I moved away without telling her how I felt. Now shes moved to my city, but I can't bring myself to even say a word to her. "I'm so blue."
and I do love the ending of the song with the background singers repeating it "drown in my own tears" but I think there could have been more backing :D
True legend of music. I just listened to the Norah Jones tribute to this, and its so obvious to me this is RAYS song. I say that as a huge Norah Jones fan, and as someone who has not heard much of Ray Charles music. The spacing of the vocal in parts, the half second silences, the distinctive gruff and emotionally charged sound, and that alienesque backing vocal. Ray Charles was a legend and will be sorely missed.
