This is The ultimate fight between Vegans(Shields) vs Omnivorous(St-Pierre). We'll see what kind of food makes you stronger. Finally we'll get an ultimate answer.
Bottom line is this is a tough fight for GSP,and not's going to be a walk in the park.. He's got a lot to worry about if he gets taken down, including losing a round. Sheilds is more than capable of taking GSP down. In terms of stand up strking, GSP has nothing to worry about being KOed. The deciding factors in this fight is who will strike first with the takedowns? I have GSP edging out a decision.

@ondaloe1 GSP has a black belt in Kyohushin, black belt in Gaidojutsu under Greg Jackson, Renzo Gracie gave gsp his brown belt and finished his Black belt in Braizlian Jiu Jitsu under Bruno Fernandez. GSP has been fighting tougher competition than Daiz has been. GSP also has the reach advantage over Daiz. I would say GSP would punish Daiz for 5 rounds on the ground. Daiz is better at stand up then at BJJ over half of Daiz losses come from being on his back. 5 out of 7 losses actually.

So he has lost 4 fights sense becoming a brown belt. it seems you have a problem of doing any research. i know about his loses. i didnt agree with all his loses but thats because i would score the fight a little differently than how they actually score fights. also daiz should've lost to Noons. gsp is better than noons yes daiz deserves a shot. so does kampman. Many ppl are counting out Sheilds. He's on 6 year win streak for a reason and has beaten some good fighters. GSP is facing an opponent with superior BJJ and just as good wrestling. GSP still has a big advanatge in the stand up. Although I think GSP has advanatges in other areas like cardio, athleticism, speed, and explosiveness, this fight won't be a walk in the park. Even if GSP gets the decision he will be pushed to his limit.
As good wrestling, no. Superior BJJ, perhaps. Plus he has his own style in American Jiu Jitsu. Jake Shields' striking is not even close to GSP's. GSP by TKO after stuffing his takedowns and frustrating him.

@ClownPsychosis When 2 athletes are almost equal in terms of skills in their discipline, the deciding factor which it comes down to is who is the fighter that's got better cardio, athleticism, strength. In that dep, GSP has the advantage. Sheilds still has the adv in BJJ/grappling, wrestling about even, standup strking GSP is light years ahead. Sheilds is a great athlete & at some point in the fight GSP will be taken down & may lose 1 or 2 rounds. This will be a tough fight for GSP.

@srcetme the only person who got hurt in this fight was GSP... He got rushed to the hospital right after the fight, and couldn't answer questions... and I didn't say Shields won the fight I said it could have been a tie because nothing really happened... they canceled each other out.. Silva vs Maia was humiliation and a prime example of why fighters fight for themselves.. Maia showed no respect and wouldn't engage so Silva humiliated him and showed he didn't respect him enough to finish him...

Bottom line is this is a tough fight for GSP,and not's going to be a walk in the park.. He's got a lot to worry about if he gets taken down, including losing a round. Sheilds is more than capable of taking GSP down. In terms of stand up strking, GSP has nothing to worry about being KOed. The deciding factors in this fight is who will strike first with the takedowns? I have GSP edging out a decision.

@ondaloe1 GSP has a black belt in Kyohushin, black belt in Gaidojutsu under Greg Jackson, Renzo Gracie gave gsp his brown belt and finished his Black belt in Braizlian Jiu Jitsu under Bruno Fernandez. GSP has been fighting tougher competition than Daiz has been. GSP also has the reach advantage over Daiz. I would say GSP would punish Daiz for 5 rounds on the ground. Daiz is better at stand up then at BJJ over half of Daiz losses come from being on his back. 5 out of 7 losses actually.

@ondaloe1 Daiz was promoted the Black Belt in BJJ by Gracie in 2007. Daiz was promoted to brown belt in 2005. So he has lost 4 fights sense becoming a brown belt. it seems you have a problem of doing any research. i know about his loses. i didnt agree with all his loses but thats because i would score the fight a little differently than how they actually score fights. also daiz should've lost to Noons. gsp is better than noons yes daiz deserves a shot. so does kampman. Many ppl are counting out Sheilds. He's on 6 year win streak for a reason and has beaten some good fighters. GSP is facing an opponent with superior BJJ and just as good wrestling. GSP still has a big advanatge in the stand up. Although I think GSP has advanatges in other areas like cardio, athleticism, speed, and explosiveness, this fight won't be a walk in the park. Even if GSP gets the decision he will be pushed to his limit.

In that dep, GSP has the advantage. Sheilds still has the adv in BJJ/grappling, wrestling about even, standup strking GSP is light years ahead. Sheilds is a great athlete & at some point in the fight GSP will be taken down & may lose 1 or 2 rounds. This will be a tough fight for GSP.
