We would suggest Richard Rudolph tell the American People (by way of the Media) that Minnie Riperton covered Loving You, so fans of Loving You can have their say.
I've just gotten an insight into it, usually the people I have heard of with breast cancer do not loose they're use in that arm then die at 31. Think about it
Before Minnie did solo albums, she was lead vocalist in a rock group called Rotary Connection. Minnie was definately not a ''one hit wonder''. VH1 don't know anything about her. Anyone black who was living in 70's know Minne Riperton. We all bought her albums back then.
You know i did. If you haven't seen Minnie's (Unsung) story on TVOne last night, it comes back on this Thurs 6/11 at 7pm and Fri 6/12 at 9am and 9pm. Check it out and have your Kleenex ready. Minnie was a special soulful fun loving spirit. I miss her.
yeah the unsung on minnie was almost hard to watch. i remember most of the 70's stuff they showed. certain artist come close but there can be only one minnie !
@DEEDUBB1979 Amen you ain't never lied. Just because mainstream are not up on her back to back cuts, she's a "one hit wonder," Thats their bad. She has back to back, reel to reel cuts. All Minnies music was awesome. Its an insult to call here a one hit wonder. In our community in She was the Queen Songtress. I can't think of one person today who can touch her sweet, soulful, blessed voice.
she passed at 32 to call her a one hit wonder is degrading she is mimicked by most female artist today, she has made her mark in the music industry although it was cut short, her voice was like no other had she been alive today who knows what she would have accomplished
Minnie can be found on You Tube singing Inside My Love after Mike Douglas interviews her on his show. The interview has been posted as well. I would love to hear her sing it live on the Midnight Special Show. I have seen her sing Loving You on the Midnight Special but this is all. What was the 3rd song?
Minnie appeared on American Bandstand for the first and only time on March 22, 1975; she sang(lip sync) Lovin'You--that was it. Minnie made two appearances on Soul Train (three counting the Tribute show) and Three on the Mid Night Special. I am yet to find a live version of Inside My Love, but I know she did sing it on the Midnight Special in 1975.
Thanks good information. I would love to see any footage of her singing. I understand her last appearance was on the Merv Griffin Show. Anyone have the footage?
Today it would have been her 60th Birthday (November 8, 1947 -- July 12, 1979). Deep respect for this voice, quality of singing and deep emotionality. - And hey, Minnie-Baby: You still enjoy us with your hot stoff. The young generation of "wanna become a star" still can take as an excelent example, what's world class R&B. - Keep you ever in mind & heart...
Beautiful duet of Minnie & the legendary George Benson. I had the Capitol Gold: The Best of Minnie Riperton CD, and the song "You Take My Breath Away" - which she did w/him - is one of the kind. Thanks for this rare footage of the late "Perfect Angel" herself!!
Plus, I've just found out that her 1980 album, Love Lives Forever, comes out in stores (and online) at Tower Records on April 24th.

Minnie had started cancer treatment at the time of this performance. Can tell by her hair. I remember seeing pics of her in Jet Magazine.

She was everything else but a one hit wonder. You can hear her in the young singers today. Unsung on TV1 is doing her bio Sunday. Look for it.

I saw that show too. They did a nice little expose on her life, but to call her a one hit wonder is an insult.
