I don't think that, in this song he's trying to really say anything. If anything, it's an introduction to the concept of the album, which has been hinted at in the previous albums. If he is trying to say anything, he's trying to say that sacrificing your emotions in the hope of anything, be it attaining immortality or something else, is not worth it. It leads to what may seem like an endless, looming despair that you can never truly feel.
