What type of connectors and wire did you use to for connecting an external antenna? I noticed that the size of the ext. antenna jack is the same as a headphone "1/8" jack and wondered what connectors you would need to get some wire connected to the 7600GR. Excellent reception, BTW!
No offense, I own a 7600GR by myself, it is a weak receicer! Wanna know why?
Poor intermodulation immunity, many ghost stations even with it's telescope antenna. There is no scroll wheel and the tuning is very slow, no illuminated keys, small display, poor bg-light, piss poor speaker, and the sync-tune is just a gimmick.
Good portable Radios: Panasonic RF-B65 or Sony 2001D
I've got one of these great radios; could you let me know if I'm using it right? I'm in AM mode, and press 'Direct'. Then I punch in the frequency: '15425', and then press 'Exe'. I always get static! In fact, AM seems to net me nothing but static. Is it the radio or is it the way I'm using it? Please let me know! Thanks
The ICF-SW7600GR is surely the better radio on AM and SW, but the CCrane (aka Redsun RP2000/2100) sounds MUCH better than the tiny Sony (I own both of them, my Redsun is branded "Roadstar TRA-2350P").
Do you still have the Sony and how do you compare it to your CCradio sw? I hope you do a comparrison sometime between the two. I am amazed how much bigger the Crane is.
Yes I still have them both. The Sony is a better radio, but harder (for my liking) to use. I like to have a knob to turn in tuning in stations. The Sony just has up and down buttons...no knob. To me, that makes it harder to use, but it is a better radio overall. I think the Sony 7600GR is probably the best portable you can buy. I just wish it had a tuning knob.
Yes, I have. The AN-LP1 works great. I got it directly from an eBay seller in Japan. The AN-LP1 is very, very hard to find in the US.
I have a 4 position antenna switch, connected to my G5RV (102' doublet) antenna. That works great for me and is my preferred antenna. This video was made with the G5RV.
Cool. I'm just getting in to the SWL hobby and the ICF-SW7600GR will probably be my first receiver so I'm looking for good antennas that will work in my apartment.
Also it's good to see stations on the West coast picking up distant broadcasts. Most of the reports I read are from operators on the East coast. (I'm in Seattle.)
Got the AN-LP1 and it works great with this Sony model. I take it outside and the reception is amazing! I miss the old Radio Moscow cold war broadcast. They were eerie and fun!

How do you tune ssb signals? Does it have a fine tune or is that a button also? It sounds good in this video.

Sounds great!
I'm curious... have you tried the Sony AN-LP1 antenna with this radio?

Hi
I am planning in buy this radio but I have some question:
Does really pick up stations from all over the globe?
How do you know from which country is that station?

Try to get a hold of the book "Passport To World Band Radio" that will answer a lot of your questions.

Typical performance for this radio. Which is to say, excellent. :)
