I hate doing those kinds of drawings or when you only look 10% of the time "Modified Contour"...I suck so much at it. I cannot draw unless I look..

And we never did ourselves..we always did objects or other ppl..which was extremely awkward to sit across from someone and stare at them for a long period of time while trying to draw them..lol.

sweet nice intensity. I am doing blind contours with my left hand because my ex teacher said the hand you DONT write with is the hand you draw better with, I guess years of writing letters trains you in a bad way or something. But this is day two and I'm already improving, and it really really is interesting and I'm so excited to see how it turns out after a few months. Nice video.

What I do is imagine a dot on the outside of the subject and move it down in a steady pace and match the pencil exactly with it. Also, don't slow down for details or else they will come out, out of proportion. Just act like you're a human seismograph perceiving the edge.

Lol Blind contour! I hate doing it lol! In my drawing class for like 5-10 minutes at the start of every day we had to do blind contour of our hands so my sketchbook was like half filled with blind contour of my hands. But that was pretty good for a contour and only looking a couple times lol. Its hard to stop yourself from looking.

I just realized one thing after looking this video.. blind drawings can catch up the essential of what is there.. it's like.. if one is trying to make a portrait with every little detail it can be very hard to put life into it.. what I'm trying to say is your drawing is that good that you can be recognized in it.. I know this may sound silly but I hope you get the meaning... when I saw the picture and you I recognized you at the picture with all these "wrong" proportion.. never lose your passion

I've had to do this MANY times, my art teacher used to make us spend about a month and a half to 2 months doing straight gesture drawing and contour drawing and blind contour with willow charcoal and egular charcoal, it was so tiring after a while, I was excited to move onto something else...so rubbing your nose eh? is that the excuse? ha ha..you're really good with art. not t mention crazy adorable..=)

it's actually fine to look down once in a while when you need to see where you are. I used to teach drawing at an art school. You can also try looking in the mirror and feeling your face with one hand when you draw with the other hand. It helps to feel the face as you draw it.
