the reason zach effron didnt sing was coz he cant actually sing. so all the songs on highschool musical that are meant to be sung by him are sung by the producer or something.

he just didn't sing in hsm1 cuz the songs were meant for a tenor. zac is a baritone.
that's why vanessa sang in a higher octave in the second movie. so it would go well with zac's voice.
