i agree with ribluesy. this music is not blues. everyone knows that since it is not performed by a blind black man on an out of tune acoustic before 1940 that it cant be REAL blues.

This is NOT blues. Or jazz. It is new age mush. However, Mr. Earl does have a distinctive guitar tone that is unmistakably his. You can hear this at the very end of the tune.

@ribluesy You're right in a sense. It's more of a ballad and a meditation, but it's definitely Ronnie's blues and a far cry from "new age mush" or smooth jazz. I don't remember the actual title of this song (it might be 'Heart of Glass') but I know he wrote it as a dedication to Peter Green. Ronnie has tone and soul to spare.

@cs868 Yes, you are right; it is a ballad, and I do feel badly about my uncharitable comment. I have seen Ronnie Earl many times and he is a great guitarist. I do prefer some other videos here on youtube esp Rego Park blues which is killer.

@ribluesy I would not feel bad about your comment. If I didn't know as much about Ronnie's playing as I do, I may have expressed the same sentiments as you. I'm glad you've seen him live, so you know first hand what an incredible guitarist he is. Ronnie does not sing, but I think all the emotion in his heart and soul shows in his playing.
