  • Tony Royster Jr. his my ally

  • Where did Jay-Z find this kid?

  • 0:30 Is that Vin Diesel on Bass? ha ha

  • @Koppite29 a skinny-one.... LOL

  • In my opinion,he is over playing,,overplaying WELL ,mind you ,but the song doesn t need massive fills every 2 or 4 bars,,,I bet Tony will look back on this in 10 years and laugh about his playing!

  • @law2445 He is doing a solo. When your playing a solo you jus wanna hit it hard.

  • @bardarians well,I actually dig what he is doing and love a drummer who hits with authority,,but it looks like Jay z isn´t:D...I have been told that this tune was intended to show case Tony,,is this true?

  • @law2445 considering a different drummer played on the recording... i'd say no, more likely to showcase the work of johnny pate in the sample.

  • @law2445 sometimes, you do look back and laugh about what you're playing,

and sometimes you look back and laugh about what you're playing because you still think, after 10 years,

that what you were playing was the best thing the bars could ask for :)

  • between bam from the orignial track and tony...man i dont know bam has some chops but dennis chambers and tony are the greats

  • <<feels faint

  • Awesome drumming!

I think that tony is the best today, no doubt about it!!

  • get the chillz daymmmm that sick

  • I love how his band just turns around to watch him lol

  • @MikeLibman As did Jay-Z when he performed with him.. lol It happens...! lol

  • @DavidChoiDrumz Bam Alexander recorded da original track

  • @23Drums88 IMO, his was better.

  • Respond to this video... hold on there now mr dezzomaxima thats the best drummer ive heared in years

  • who recorded the drums on the original track?

  • @DavidChoiDrumz Just Blaze produced the track.

  • 1,000,000,000 times

  • 1:37/38 whoah

  • @Eheynike i know i was like OMG!!!!!!!

  • this nigga so sick!!!

  • @ deezomaxima, Please don't send me anymore messages about Tony Royster or anyone else. Its obvious you don't know very much about drumming or drummers. So please don't waste my time, okay? Everyone knows Royster is at the top of the game.

  • Tony is Sick wit them sticks

  • Even the other members of the band can't take their eyes offa him, lol!

  • i wanna be like tony sooo badd, and why cant i if i have the drive and obsession

  • because you are human.

  • Its incredible how much you suck

  • @1Drummer88 okay great thanks for that

  • hahaha how pissed wud yu be if yu were the guitarist everyones just lookin at tony royster jr lol

  • lol but if u did notice even the guitarist is lookin at him haha

  • Jayz pro pro!

  • S I CK DAMIT MAN

  • i wish i had his hands arms and feet

  • all you need is his mindset... to practise.

  • @malicious199 i agree

  • @malicious199 Tony is an awesome drummer but really i think its hard to say he is the best in the world(it also depends on your style of drumming) cause its a lot of awesome drummers, that have the mindset to be great and they can do anything Tony can do. So i agree with you.

  • he rapes that 4/4

  • Hate to ask a probably obvious question, but he's playing to the band on-stage correct?

  • yup..

  • TONY ROYSTER IS THE BEST !!!!!

  • GOOOOD DaM

  • Fuck jay-z, dats Tony's Song!!! Show Me What You Got!!

  • he kicks ass!! but its sound bit too overplayed, buts thats how they wanted it i guess

  • 1.34 PAWNED!

  • MUCH LOVE!! Amazing. Dont need nuthin else but the Drums the Way he Killt It!!

  • gospel chops to the extreme

  • just straight dirty as hell. very well done

  • BRAVO! love from Croatia

  • that sounded impossible

  • i know!1 hu!1 lol!!

  • Francisco is probably the best unheard of bassist.

  • yo props but idk...i think just blaze was the best to play this track...but still dope

  • jus blaze didnt play that it was another drummer kenneth alexander bka "bam" from 1500 or nothin. tony is a beast tho

  • to Kingtimi:

Just Blaze did not play the drums on "Show Me What You Got." He did other parts of the beat but he did not play the drums. They told Tony "Roast-ya" to add more fills than the album when they do concerts.

  • the drummer is from a group called 1500 or nothin.. Kenneth "Bam" Alexander.. just blaze layed down the track and dude did his thing in the studio. i like royster more just just his fills are a little cleaner.. but both dudes are bananas

  • I wanna know who does the guitar cause it sounds tight as hell

  • Holy fuck....

  • My face just melted.

  • yeahyeahyeahyeah!!!!rooaarrraarrarararaaaaaaa!!!!

    He's a frikkin. MONSTER

  • A laser blizzard of percussion, and he flips a stick for fun. "___________," what else can I say?

Stunning, amazing, overwhelming, mind-blowing, super, perfection, mesmerism, awe-stuck, and these are the words I can imagine right now!

    \oo/

  • I think I saw some wood chips fly off of his drum sticks. Definitely doing some shedding

  • freahshow!!!!!!

in the positiv way ofcourse :P

    it's ballistic

  • aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhf

    tyfvgtyrtuiytrtuityg

    tony is siick

  • I AGREE!!

    YTHTYEILJHJFGD

  • damn that was sick

  • practise your double strokes ceaseless and youll end like him some dayyyy.......

  • if thats the sound check , imagine hows the real thing !!

  • SOUNDCHECK AT A JAY-Z SHOW

  • no wonder the song is short, thanks for the info :)

  • niiiiiiiiiice

  • sick!

  • DRUMS PLEASE!!!!!

  • it may have been a clinic as u hear the crowd after

  • Rehersal

  • Was this a rehearsal or did Jay-Z come out later?

  • Best Drummer alive

  • calvin rodgers the best drummer dont know what u thought

  • Ummm this isn't a ballad! He's working and I'm sure they knew of that attribute prior to hire! He ripped it! Give it to him and stop hating! lol

  • Ha Ha what are you talking about??? He is sick as hell. shut up

  • Go look up some of his other stuff. This jam is supposed to be played loud.

  • lol its a live show, who the heck plays quiet on a live shows?

  • I must admit; I thought Bam from 1500 or nothin's licks were the greatest ......until I heard TRJ on this track. Now Bam's lick sound sloppy. No disrespect to Bam though--dude is still a beast. I guess it's kinda like thinking a Cadillac or Corvette is the greatest car on earth....til you jump in a Rolls Royce or a Lamborghini.....

I will concede--TR Jr is GOD.

    Just MO......

  • great cover. good bass, good guitar, excellent drums

  • Just the reactions of the other world class musicians watching him shows how great he is. When you have so many talented peers, and they are amazed at what you are doing, it must be a great feeling.

  • Tony is good...damn good....

  • niel peart was called "the professor" he was great for his time. his ability to count out odd timed songs is amazing.. he was a good rock drummer.. Tony royster and ronald bruner jr are great shedders. tony royster is amazing and has been since he was 10. he was ment to play the drums and it really shows. you can't compare apples and oranges.

  • Neil Pert also plays right on the beat like a robot or metronome

most drummers either push the beat or play behind it

it's not wrong it just depends on the drummer

  • dude you trippin... he crushes bam from 1500 or nothing!

  • right

  • ok we know he can do drumb rolls but it's not better than the original.

  • He doesn't play dumb fills.... This song here it's been used as a drum solo played by "Jay Z''s" drummer.

If you like the original go listen to it and don't waste your time hating so much...

  • Not hating. He's a good drummer but his rendition of this jam is not as good.

  • ball up. tony royster performs. drumming (hell any instrument really) in the studio, and playing in a live performance require two different types of drumming. and i'm not talking about playing tight, of course its gotta be dead on. but it has to entertain. Tony entertains, while destroying everyone in a 100 mile radius. if you want to play a high energy song, you need high energy performers. period.

  • for real!

  • @franciscofattoruso And why would you wasn't your time trying to tell me what to do? It's my opinion that the other drummer played it better and I hate when someone just gets out there and does drum rolls to get people going. I don't want to hear all that shit. I know he's a good drummer, better than I'll ever be and I have played, but the original is better. Thank you and the end!

  • @franciscofattoruso and deezomaxima I know this reply is a year late... but FYI, Tony IS the original drummer on the Jay-Z track. Best wishes to you both.

  • @KoolBreeze88 ...sorry buddy, BAM from 1500 or nothing is the original drummer, Just blaze brought bam in, just look for in youtube, "Making of show me what you got" and its under the username Lawrence ...Tony's good ..but bam's hand speed is just a notch above tony

  • @franciscofattoruso Tony Make the orignial lmaoooo hes the drummer on the track brah

  • @franciscofattoruso

dude don't even waste your time justfifying tony's playing. he's a genius. he could right out everything he's played here in five minutes.

he's also also really busy when he plays this song live. but he adds texture to the song, its crazy but tasteful.

  • @deezomaxima He is Jay-Zs hand picked drummer. Shows how much you know. He is one of the best.

  • @csuflasher So what he was hand picked and who cares on what you think I don't know. You don't know what I know so why even talk shit?

  • @deezomaxima fucking troll.... go troll under a bridge

  • @DrivenBlack and fuck u!

  • he is the greatest

  • hes awesome without a doubt, but he in no way is better than neil peart from rush

  • what the hell?! are you joking???

  • dude, tony royster is extremely good but he is not on neil peart's level. anyone who has knowlege on percussion knows that. not a knock on royster,

  • Seriously mate, anyone with any knowledge of percussion or music as a whole knows that Neil Peart is a good rock drummer, but can no way be compared to the best virtuoso drummers in the world. Tony Royster jr. has been practicing about 10 hours a day since he was 5 years old, and can be placed along side people like Dave Weckl and Vinnie Calouta (if you know who these people are). Neil Peart = good rock drummer. Tony Royster Jr. = True drumming god. Stop playing guitar hero and learn about music

  • Neil Peart is much more than a "good rock drummer". He is arguably the greatest rock drummer but his talent and interest expands much further than rock drumming. Tony Royster's solos are great but chances are, Royster has even been influenced by Pearts solos. Thats great that Royster has dedicated that kind of time to practice but how old is he? Peart has been doing the same and has been playing for decades longer than Royster.

  • Peart's drumming career expands far beyond Rush as he holds many all around percussion awards and achievments. Outside of Rush his style is greatly influenced by jazz just the same as Royster. Im not saying that royster cant solo with the best of them, he is extremely talented. You need to pop Royster's dick out of your mouth and realize that just because he is modern and popular, he is not the greatest that has ever walked to planet.

  • Honestly im not riding on the Royster bandwagon. Hes not one of my favorite drummers, but it is clear that in terms of sheer technical ability, Royster has one over on Neil Peart and in fact most other world famous drummers. Anyway, I went a bit over the top insulting your musical ability which I have no idea about so sorry about that. I just hate people that think famous drummers from bands are the best drummers in the world. There is no best drummer for a start.

  • I could agree that there is no best drummer, and no I dont think that peart is the best because he is from a band. You should watch some of Neil Pearts newer drum solos and you may rethink your comment on Royster having more technical ability than Peart.

  • peart admitted that he didn't have th chops to be a jazz drummer, seriously. i believe him to be one of the best.. but royster is young and insanely amazing and quick, you can't compare a drummer who started in the fifties to a guy thats in his twenties lol.. Even if royster isn't better then him, look how good he is already, you can't deny peart was nothing at his age.. or even at royster's 11 year old solo. Theres no doubt royster has some of the fastest chops in the drum worlds history

  • if you've watched some of Neil's jazz stuff, its not impressive at all. Even his solo in yyz gets boring, considering who knows how long he practiced it for lol.. Not saying he isn't a great, but saying peart is on a different level of royster? i hope you don't mean he is higher. royster isn't my fav drummer at all, but his chops are for sure top notch. When he gets old like peart, i believe he will be considered one of the best ever. He's still young, give him a break.

  • thank god i play drums and i practice like 3 hours a day and i hate people who say that their good at an instrument cut they can play expert at rock band its sickening

  • This guy is one of the greatest drummer I've ever heard...and I've heard a few giants !

  • THAT MOVE AT 1:21 IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE

  • ABSOLUTE MADNESS...... PROPS!!!!

  • Oh My God!... Is dat possible?... He's the best drummer I've ever heard in my life!!!

  • how he can have that good timing..thats unreal..

  • Practice makes Perfect

  • aite!! that was good! unreal! good! :)

  • The best drummer of this time...Go Tony!!

  • He's good. I think Moritz Mueller deserves more recognition though.

  • wow. So incredible. The band as a whole were tight as fuck, even with Tony's wild playing

  • yeah i've known about tony for a few years he's so amazing, i figured it was either him drumming aaron spears

  • THAT MAN IS BEASTY

  • The fill at 1:20-25 is awesome, but the one at 1:35-40 is SICK. Holy crap, that's f*cking awesome.

  • WTF he is unreal

  • Wow I wish I could be there live. Is this from J's concert.

  • i think the sax is sampled...

  • yeh it is. guy up the back on the decks.

but the guitarist i think is playin with it

  • is some1 playing the sax really in tht vid? coz how can any1 hold tht for so long

anyway all iwntd to c was tony play:)

  • Thats the sample from that old rap song. Jus blaze made it hold longer by duplicating the wave.

  • I was trying to explain this to someone the other day but i couldn't find the words..

    "Duplicating the wave"

    Exactly right

  • LOOOL Ace ! =p its real ! XD

  • lol those other musicians are lookin at tony, smiling and thinking "wtf is the kid on...he's crazy" lol

  • the man is a "NATURAL" ,the jordan of drums.

  • Pure Monster talent! Dude is going places.

  • going? hes been around the world and started playing professionally when he was like 12

  • He's better than all you fuckin faggots that say he's not good

  • HAHAHA I WISH EVERYBODY WOULD SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LET HIM PLAY. jUST WATCH THE VIDEO AND MOVE THE HELL ON IF YOU DONT LIKE THE VIDEO DONT POST.

  • I want to be him !!!!! Getting ALL the chicks ... if you know what i mean

  • He is not overdoing anything ... stupid bitches . Thats no impro you fucking loosers .

  • man a lot of people seem to hate on this dude. i mean he's nice regardless. let the dude play the way he wants. no ones opinion is going to be the same about anyone. you can know people who are better than him in your own back yard but someone is better then that person as well. just my opinion to some stuff i have been reading.

  • Tony is the best ever if you ask me..

  • yep and there's way better videos too

  • Tony Royster Jr. can do whatever he wanna do. He got da green light @ da age of ten. That song is open for business ANYWAY...

  • He overplayed on this one. The people are there to hear Jay-Z and the band, not Tony as an individual.

  • it was a intro, not the whole show

  • Oh ok..nevermind my post then lol.

  • Well put. Spoken like a true hater. Be that Jay Z and/or the band gave Dr. Royster the space to open up like he did, it just showcases his skills. Watch VH1's Storytellers with Jay Z Performing songs from his American Gangster Album. Tony Royster Jr doesn't "Overplay."

  • Lol, ok, calm down. I didn't realize It was the intro.

  • tony was better than bam at 12 years old...

  • Now your stretching.

  • that kid moves like butter! good stuff

  • tony royster is one of my fav drummers but does he ever play pocket?!

  • He is a professional, when you ask him to play a drum solo he plays(like the one on this video),and when you need him to play in sync with a drum machine he'll do it as well.

  • yea tony is a very good drummer but his licks on this song wasnt as tight as bam bam im not saying he is better im saying bam bam surprises you cause you didnt no what to expect with him. but tony royster will kill on some fusion or rock!

  • Yo I saw him in Dallas and he killed it!!!

  • does he play the drums on the single?

  • no ...look up BAM (1500 or nothing) here on You Tube

  • He no where close to tony! he good and he gets hyped up in the studio but the chops don't match up tony mad jay z give him props when he did this song live in new york that i the best drummer around.

  • You Crazy as crap! Tony is sooooooo overated! i hate to say it but its true! he's tight but BAM IS HARD! thats my boy....on this clip he couldnt just solo on the brakes like BAM... he had to just go over the music to make it sound like he was doing more then he was doing.....which was just a bunch of singles! Once again tony is a tremendous beast...but to say Bam is no where close to him is far fetched...I'm not saying Bam's better because hes not...but people act like tony is Chris Dave...

  • This how you know tony is better he not even playin hard and still almost sounds better than ya boy...If tony is better than bam in every thing else how could he not be better on this track.... watch show me what you got live in new York and tell me tony not better...For Jay Z to do what he dose, after performing wit countless drummers,it crazy.

  • he looks like he's playing hard to me....

  • OVERATED!? Have you seen any of Dr. Royster's solos at the ages of 7-12? Study those videos and come back with a comment about Tony Royste Jr being "Overated." This dude was born to play, Literally. I wouldn't be surprised if someone said, Tony played the Drums before he learned how to talk. But I digress. This is Youtube. It's not that hard to find some Vidz on him. Study them, minstrel34

  • Another thing I want you to see is "Tony Royster jr Playing in Church." Search it as I quoted it. He's playing this Jazz song called "Spain." Tell me if he "Overplays" or if he's still "Overated." Lol.

  • I Said he's tight!!! HE IS!!! But he is not one of the greatest!!! And as far as being 12... all he did was play a bunch of double bass licks

  • Whoa! Tony's not one of the greatest!? At the age of 14 he was shedding with a seasoned legend. Well, Every man and/or woman's entitled to their own opinion. I respect that, Minstrel34

  • HECK NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When you think of Dennis...Vinnie..Dave...Buddy...Gene...Tony Williams....you dont say Royster!!!! he's tight once again!!! and yes he's done a video but so has alot of people! I'm not hating...I like tony...But come on.. thats like Saying Deron Williams from Utah Jazz is one of the greatest NBA players ever!!! is a good player but thats far fetched!

  • he played that on a single and the one live in new y
