theres many different kinds liquid acrylic, liquid plastic, etc.. one good brand is called envirotex any lowes or menards should have it next to their polyurethane it will take about 2 quarts of mix to do a 2' x 8' table.

they used something i don't know what it is but it's clear and it fills in the gaps and makes a smooth top. if you saw towards the end he was mixing something and they put up walls around the table, that's what they were doing.
