  • Not cool. Coral reefs are being decimated by fish collectors for aquariums.

  • pretty nice tank

  • nice tank!! what size pump and what type of lighting do you use? check out my vids of my tanks

  • wow this must of cost a whole lot! are you rich or did you save up a whole lot of money?

  • do you know what kind of leather that is in the center of your tank? the one that is folded up and looks like more of a cup. at 1:13 it is right in the center of the shot. i was given a leather similar to that and i am trying to determine what type it is. its not a toadstool and certainly not a finger or a tree. just wondering if you could advise. thanks man

  • i have a 420 gallon salter water aquarium

  • whoo! lets see update plz

  • How old is your tank awsome alga growth!

  • is 1:43 a fish. nice tank

  • I could see how it kind of looks like a fish (maybe an Angler/frogfish), but it's actually a colony of green/yellow Zooanthids. Thanks for the comment!

  • @bretthgraham looks like zoanthids.

  • how much is one gallon 4 you?

  • cool bet you dont need much filtration with all that rock ????

  • very nice tank. well done for the work you have put in. I'm a reefie to and would like to share a video of my tank with others. see it on here at: "marek's reef aquarium" :-)))

  • YES that is so awesome that has got to be the best comment ever!!! not the tank lol. nice and big but nothing but the norm.

  • Hey can i ask u somthin i got a 55 galon tank and its prtty big i guess. but i can only put rocks in it.how do you put that big piece of reef?? in it/?? u just let it grow??? or did u buy it or is it plastic or somthin cause it looks cool.

  • a reef tank is like a garden, you grow one, not buy one. You start out with your tank and rock, add small pieces of coral and wait for it to grow and fill out.

  • yea man thats cool and all but coral reefs take hundreds of years to grow..u kno that right..... and i can only live like 90 more!!

  • were u being sarcastic or do you really think tht?

  • well yea man... you dont see coral reefs just grow in a year.. ..

  • actually a lot of corals grow pretty fast. you could fill a 75 gallon with corals in a year.

  • also, considering you REALLY want 1-2 lbs. of rock per gallon of water, you would need about 50-100 lbs. of rock at an average cost of $6 a lb. that comes out to at least $300 for 50 lbs. or as much as $600 for upwards of 100 lbs. and $6 a lb. is a VERY reasonable price. yeah, i think you should maybe go back and redo your figures a little.

  • okay, so you can set up a 50 gallon tank for $1300 MINUS the fish, corals, invertebrates, etc. so you're still lookin' at at LEAST $2000 for a decent 50 gallon tank with something actually living in it besides the rock. lol.

  • not really i have a 45 gal almost complete with equipment just needs a sump and more coral

overall ive really spent like 1100 maybe 1200 dollars on it

u dont need over the top super exensive crap its only if u want to brag about it

  • awesome

  • Need some color, its a very good tank with a lot of potential, but it just lacks color, which is what makes saltwater reefs so unique. 4 stars though, excellent tank

  • lol, obviously this isnt for a reef setup...

you could still do a bunch of corals, mushrooms, star polyps, sunflower, tons of stuff....

all youd need to make it a bomb reef tank is 500 bucks on lighting and 300 dollars calcium reactor if you want one...

  • people get absolutely SUCKERED on lighting costs.

Do some research, what they sell you is commercially available for other applications; pennies on the dollar.

  • well you can buy commercial t5s and i got to plant stores to look at metal halides..

  • what lighting are you using?

  • 4x 250 Icecap Metal Halides - 2x 10k Ushio, 2x 20k Radium. 2x Icecap 440 VHO - 4x 48" 20k actinic white and 4x 48" super actinic (blue).

  • wow what kinda lighting

  • What does it cost to setup a reef tank that size with that much life? I'm looking to start one soon

  • 300 gallon would cost a lot. try a 75 gallon. My 39 Gallon costed me $2000, and Im still putting money into it.

  • $2000 sounds like a lot for a 39Gal, you must have a lot of expensive fish. You can find a good 120 Gallon with a sump and skimmer for around that much.

  • dude don't know where you live but $4000 for a 90 with sump and skimmer is my personal experience

  • wow you two must be walkin into fish stores saying, " ive got money, how much to set me up a tank?"

    50 gallon tank and stand= 250-300

4 bulb t5 light setup = 250-300 (you only need this if your setting up a reef tank)

remora pro skimmer with prefilter box = 300

    sand = 100

    live rock = 200-250

    2-3 maxi-jet 1200s for flow= 60

    heater=50

    test kit..fish food..whatever = 50

so for a VERY nice 50 gallon setup, about 1300 dollars ...

  • WOW GREAT AQUARIUM

  • i love the foxfaces

  • OMFG

  • You must work on that thing non stop. I have a 75 gallon, and Im tending to it all the time.

  • A larger tank would generally require less maintenance than a smaller one. My 38Gal would get dirty very quickly whereas my 100Gal would barely require any water changes.

  • cool clownfish

  • need a more powerful light your coral is colorless.sorry to say maybe a 3 stage light will help brng them to life.what are you using a single 48 inch ligt or duel?

  • yu should get a sea apple

  • Awesome tank! I love the foxfaces.

  • awesome setup by the way absolutely awesome

  • yes very visible

  • nice setup, needed music in the vid tho

  • kool decretions! :)

  • How much does maintenance expenses run annually? Food, chemicals, etc.?

  • some productive critisism ? ... is that red algae at the bottom of the tank ? if that is red , then u must add some extra circulation to the system , with the polyps u got there 20.000 liters/hour of circulation is not even close to the minimum ,

  • VERY COOL....we have outgrown our 35 and are in process of moving to a 90 gal upstairs with a 70 gal refuge in the basement...pray for us when we turn the pums on!

  • In a litle to midle sized tank x20 circulation is great , in big systems the "x" factor increases geometrically so aim to the x30 or even x50 if u can . i know thats a great deal of pumping but have u seen a wave passing a reef ??? its more than x1000 ;)

  • Hey man....how do you like the acrylic? Same as glass? Any difference? I am looking ino a 1,000 gallon tank for my new house and everyone says to go acrylic....

  • If i have a scatch on my glass aquarium about 4 inches long would it be visible when you put water init?

  • My tank is 3/4" acrylic which scratches easier than glass. I'm curious to know what scratched your glass. I have several scratches that are barely noticeable. Can also get scratch repair kits, which I'm looking into.

  • How much did that big reef cost you?

  • Rough estimate i'd say at least $6000, maybe he has more into it. but i'd say 6 as a low ball figure

  • Rough estimate is ~$26k. See pplpwrd [dot] wordpress [dot] com for more details on the exact setup.

  • hansome

  • you could just tell how comfotable all the organisms are

  • 5 Stars! Very beautiful!
