Michael Jordan enough said, great game by Rodman even though I hated him back then! It is no wonder the Bulls won six once Mike started getting help he was almost single handedly beating teams by himself! Absolutely awesome player, in my Ali voice the greatest of ALL TIME!
Start at 5:31. Possibly one of the best moves Jordan did as he goes past 3 defenders speeding to the basket. Dumars is on him, note Rodman extending his right leg, and Laimbeer on the defensive ready to block.
MJ is the best ever. He's also the greatest competitor ever, and early in his career, he had to carry the load until the supporting cast around him was ready. When they finally got past Detroit in '91, he didn't have to score 40-50 to beat them. Pippen, Grant, Paxson, etc. were ready. Michael is also one of the best, if not the best, defender to ever play the game. 2nd best? Probably Bill Russell, but Magic and Bird are definitely in that conversation for the huge impact they had on the game.
Jordan, a little bit better at Offense then Pippen. Pippen, a little bit better at defense then Jordan. The most two complete players I have ever seen. Both of them better then Kobe or Lebron. I dont care what any of you say. Jordan and Pippen = Amazing. Simple as that.
Shooting over Joe Dumars. Kobe would average 50. Look at these guys. Fat and overshape. The only real defender was Rodman and he was never matched up against Jordan.
@renzo1200 Kobe averaged 25 against the Celtics which's defense isn't in the near of the famous Pistons and Knicks defense...Kobe would be happy with a 20points avg against these teams...
@renzo1200 shooting over means nothing. so ur saying ud taking michael pietrus as a better defender than dumars? u know nothing. Joe dumars in by consensus a top 5 defensive guard all time, arguably 2nd behind MJ. thew idea of a defender is not to have height to block a jumpshot...the fundamental of bball is not to block a jumpshot. dumars was a fierce defender who could hand check and harass you and keep the defender in front of him
damn that's sick. That's coming from someone who’s the shortest on his team but do windmills and double pump dunks. I used the training program at - snipurl[dot]com/nbatraining - and gained over 13 inches on my leap. Being able to finish my dunk is the least thing I have to worry about in basketball now, haha.
I love how Jordan doesn't care about where he is on the floor, like at 8:23, just inside the three point line, a lot of players would pass that shot up seeing it as useless when you could step back for the 3 pointer or take it to the hoop, jordan just eyes it up and knocks it down.
you don't know your history, MJ never averaged 40+ against them after the implementation of the Jordan rules...do yourself a favor and go to basketball-reference and look up MJ's numbers from the 88 playoffs to the 90 playoffs, he had big games, but NEVER CAME CLOSE to averaging 40!
that turn around jumpshot is unreal!!! MJ just played both ends of the floor, there is no comparison to this man - we should stop with the comparisons already..this guy is the best ever. His tenacity is unmatched.
you know, come to think of it...those three playoff loses really made the bulls who they were in the nineties..and it forced micheal to developed that deadly midrange game to compliment his already dominant inside game (of course he would also become the best high post player too)...
you all act like every team in the 80s played defense like the pistons. they were the only ones! when jordan first came in the league it was easy to score, there was no zone defense. in the 90s is when he became a master because it the rules changed and it became harder. and that is the league kobe came into until they changed the rules in again after the lakers 02 title
but there was still no defense. the only defensive teams were the pistons, celtics, and the 76ers in the early 80's. tell me why one other team besides the lakers made it to the finals every year of 80s. there were only about the same 4 teams every year that had a chance to win the title during the 80s
well yes they were the best defensive teams than but you have to understand that the games were alot tougher than you breathe on a guy its a foul in todays shit league
i stand by what i said. i do know what im talking about. the avg final score of games in the 80's were higher than what they were in the 90s. as players got bigger, stronger and faster in the 90s thats when defense became prominent. and i dont like old ignorant ppl who get upset bcos someone has a difference of opinion w/ them.
Now that was the MJ I remembered!!! This one showed what he did on defense too!! He not only had 42 points, he had 4 steals, 9 assists, and 3 blocks and several rebounds too. Nobody living can do all that in one game except MJ. He does all that and guards the starting guards of the pistons effectively. KOBE who?
When u can go back to back 40 pt games in the playoffs against a team like Detroit with a defense geared not only to stop you, but to physically abuse you and wear u out, then you know you're the man. That "man" was Jordan!
even though Jordan and Rodman were teammates in '96, '97, and '98, do you think MJ talked trashed about blocking his shot 3 times in the same game? Sure he did!
Gotta say...anyone who thinks LeBron and Kobe and the other stars of the league are as good as Jordan...you definitely have not seen Jordan in his prime. This vid is a great example of how good he really was...Detroit was basically punching him and kneeing him every time he took it inside, like MMA fighters...
@nuriy You are right Michael Jordan is the absolute GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYER TO EVER WALK THE FACE OF THE EARTH...THERE IS NO DEBATE...NOW THIS IS A MATTER OF OPINION ON MY PART HERE...THE SECOND GREATEST PLAYER OF ALL TIME IS.....Earvin " Magic " Johnson...I'll let the rest of you weigh in with your own opinions...This is stirctly for the "Experts" to respond to.
@nuriy kobes not as good as jordan but hes second to him, he perform well against jordan, and ever since jordan retired, no one can stop kobe 1 against 5 is nothing to kobe.
hey I became a basketball fan watching Chicago and I loved the Bulls teams from 88-94 but after that I started to dislike them. I am from Michigan too. Now I'm all Pistons but MJ IMO is the best ever and I loved Pippen, Grant and the rest those years..
Just look at the game & Kobe & Lebron should quit playing in NBA. This was defensively a man's game back then. MJ still dominated so easily with lightening quickness, shovel & baseball passes, elevating 3 feet in air & hanging forever & nailing soft release jumpers. MJ is absolutely untouchable, unmatchable & uncomparable. Only guys ever be compared to MJ is Magic, Bird & Chamberlin because of their domination. Kobe & Lebron play in kid's league NBA with ZERO defense where scoring 30 pts is easy
Remember: NOBODy COuld Stop Michael Jordan. His unstopable.Detroit had fantasting defenders rodman, dumars, lambeer but even they could do nothing .MJ is god creature
jordan is one of the best offensive players in nba history and also defense. bill russell, eaton, rodman, jabbar, chamberlain, mutombo, and hakeem are the best defenders.
Jordan is the best player ever...Rodman, in my opinion is the best defensive player/rebounder of all time. The guy had this sixth sense about everything defensive
I counted 4 blks as well. Loved that Jordan steal agaisnt Dumars. Yep Joe, MJ is right up there with u when it comes to defense. Its a great game overall, thanks for the upload starks
honestly i dont mind if the bulls eventually lost in the series. i mean, i like watching jordan and the bulls even they lost. i hate to see comment of someone being so bitter sweet about the fact that the bulls didnt win that year. they were a young team and were still developing at that time. it is forgiveable of their lost as you can see how they have become afterward.
thank you so much starks23. i have to say that this is the most intense game i have seen on all the youtbue jordan videos, and i love it! all the defensive plays by mj are great. it is scary to witness a player play like this in a game, so determined in both ends.
Jordan played his butt off in this game -- too bad his team couldn't step up and they lost the series. Detroit was toying with the Bulls in games 3 and 4 because you saw how they blew them out in game 5 and just didn't feel like showing up in game 6 then blew out Chicago like it was nothing in game 7.
Fantastic work Starks 23. One of the best games to show MJs intensity on both ends of the floor..I was actualy more impressed with the defence than the offence !
By the way, I don't know what you guys think but it looks like they missed one of the Jordan blocks. Like mnkhan says, he clearly blocks Rodman three times. What r u talking about? The whole 80s, 90s defense were much tougher than today's.
Check out this 1987 season game, Jordan made 53 pts.
Watch how physical and how many double team, trible team he faced.
Then you come back and say to me again: Pistons was the only defense team. Even a normal team can do defense in regular season.

Players get stronger but not faster in 90s.
Actually it's late 80s.
Although the team defense of 80s is not better than 90s, but the Jordan rule or focus on Jordan was there in 80s.
I mainly discuss about the defense that Jordan faced, if u watch that vid u can tell. That's much tougher than todays.
And the game were much faster back to 80s, and they mostly played team offense, not like players started play one on one a lot since late 90s.
