Thanks for posting this film. I have a BC-1306 that I am installing in a 1942 GPW Jeep that I am restoring. I am planning on restoring the radio to working condition as well and this is good info to have for historical reference as well as an aid in restoration work.
My father was with the 3rd signal co. 3rd marine division usmc WW2. He never qualified with pistol or rifle so they put him in the signal corp. after recruit training in san diego he was sent to Wa. state for 4 months of elite training. He still has his marine corp issued wire cutters. He finally got shipped over seas in 43. just in time for bouganville and guam. Lighting storm ruin his day sending current thru his headphones. Deaf most of his life. Caused him to stay on ship at Iwo Jima.
@xxblackyburnzxx Your saying that your not a, "marine" unless you qualify with both pistol and rifle?
My fathers records indicate that he went thru the weapons training but did not score high enough to qualify.I have seen the records. He is listed as radioman M.O.S. 641 To say he was not a marine is laughable. He was island hopping with the rest of them only he was part of the special service marines. His best buddy died in his arms during the invasion of GUAM. He was their believe me.
@barmtrail I have no doubt that your father was there; I don't mean any trouble or anything, what I'm saying is that once you go through boot camp you won't pass (graduate) until you qualify with atleast a rifle. Now, I don't know if it was different some 60 years ago in the Marines; I'm just stating what I know that's always been a proven fact of the Corps. Signal corps from what I know is Army. Oh well I feel like an interenet troll.

This equipment should be from the world war II. I like so much these american classic films. They still use the term "kilocycles" instead of "kilohertz" and I know that they had an argument of adopting the new term in the U.S (propably because Hertz was german). German equipment was also technically superior.
I wonder if they used any VHF equipment for short range communications during WWII?

This older equipment may have been bigger and heavier but the quality of construction was something to be truly admired!

@barmtrail How can you be a Marine and not qualify with a rifle or pistol? Every Marine is a rifleman... It's been required in bootcamp. :X
