The car is not optional guys. It's the main focus on of the gameplay and has been 100% confirmed to not be an option extra feature. This is not a bad thing, if you don't like the vehicle concept you can go play any of the other EIGHT versions of mario party.

You guys need to wake up and realise Nintendo already did the main thing we wanted, bringing Mario Party 2 to virtual console. They did it for Marios 30th anniversary, Mario Party 2 just became 10 years old during that time. Some say Mario Party is always the same, well vehicles make a big change for it, hopefully no motion control for it, MP9 poster looks way better then MP8s poster atleast. No more commercials sayin wii would like to play. classic Ocainra of time 3d & starfox 3d. 90s are back.

I have mixed feelings about this game. On the positive side, the mini-games look new and fresh and I really like the multi-player boss mini-games, A really good looking edition. On the negative side, I will miss collecting coins and trying to getting a gold star, instead of collecting gray mini stars and everyone stays together. We havn't seen a lot of stuff yet, but what about the board items/orbs/candy? I have yet to see any used. But I'm still a MP fan and It still won't hurt to try it. =)

@WiiFolderJosh I personally don't like the gimmicks. But this vehicle thing you have to admit is a really forced idea to make it new. I liked day and night in 6, that was cool. Also the "world tour" idea in 7 was pretty alright.  And while I like the gimmicks in the boards in 8, I think they should have also given you the option to play it classic aside from just the dk board.

I do agree that the main gameplay involves more luck now.

However, item usage and split roads now involve more strategy than before.

And there'll probably be a board with more strategy than the others, like the investing boards in previous Mario Party games.

The reason why I don't like the whole vehicle concept is that Mario Party is based on a board game style gameplay.

Having all players with each other kinda defeats the purpose of competitiveness on the board.

But it doesn't mean I hate the game as a whole though, its just that one new feature that confuses and bugs me.

Yes, it's optional, you can play the extremely awesome Extra Mode and Options Mode if you don't like it.

All boards, however, WILL use the car movement.

You must've watched the part of the previous trailer where Peach walks on her own.

Now do the same while paying attention to what happens before that:

A Piranha Plant eats Peach. She enters a small underground area and needs to get outside to get back to the car.

Don't get me wrong, I love it too.

It's just that, unless they decided to keep it a secret, the Classic Mode isn't returning.

People who wanted the series to continue with the same gameplay will complain, and there's no reason for them not to. They may change their minds about the new gameplay, but if they don't, I see why they would complain. It's not like this gameplay is factually better.

The Extra Mode has extra games like Goomba bowling and a puzzle game.

Hmm, is that so, well im all for it, its not only been the longest time between Mario Parties(Especially since 8 was in the beginning of the Wii and now were nearing the end) but this is also the first Mario Party not made by Hudson Soft, considering the uniqueness im giving this a shot, it seems to be changing the formula majorly, but if its done well, it will gain praise, Its understandable for those who hate it aswell.

Hudson Soft became a Konami subsidiary about a year ago, so they won't be making anymore games with Nintendo characters. The main staff of the Mario Party games has, however, moved to NdCube, so for the most part it's still the same people developing it.

I'm not sure whether they moved before or after Wii Party, because if it was after that, we might have a combination of Mario Party's and Wii Party's developers, which would be amazing.

@freekhenstra That's incorrect, In another trailer (the first one) If you look closely, You can see Peach Jumping over pits BY HERSELF. It's not a mini game either since she moved a certain amount of spaces and it showed other players stats. (ex. how many coins,stars,items,etc.)

Firstly, it only showed how many Mini-Stars everyone had, no coins.

Secondly, right before that part in the trailer, you see the same characters with the same amount of Mini-Stars, in the car.
