yup i agreed that rendang is famous in padang ,but rendang in padang and malaysia have different ingredient. in malaysia as early as the malacca empire rendang was mention to be one of their cuisine. this is proven by many references in old manuscript such as sulalatus salatin or sejarah melayu. for your information in malay langguage rendang have a wider meaning. rendang in malay cuisine is actually a cooking process and not the dishes. it is to cook something untill it's have no licquid.
@RezaAzadhi we are the same...our culture is same because along time ago there is no country such as malaysia and indonesia. everything that we have is the same untill came the dutch and the english who split us apart. half of sumarta eastern coast about 600 years ago was under a malay kingdom in malaya that is malacca sultanate. and pagaruyung kingdom in padang was pioneerd by a malay srivijayan prince. so literally the minangkabaus is also considered as one of malay kin.
@highflyer i agree.. can see the way he flip/fold and the end result, that guy who make the roti is not pro enough, not being rude to a malaysian friend overseas >.< , but you need to go to malaysia to see a real roti canai! :)
I'd live on this food, sooo yummy and full of flavour..DEE- LISIOUS!!
