1:21-1:47 is so familiar. It drives me nuts that I cant place it, but I picture some sort of dramatic scene from some movie where it's also a lot more epic sounding. >.< I hate you memory!
This song makes me nostalgic... I started playing when factions was released, and although the story wasn't that great, the atmosphere was. Factions is still my favourite of all GW games. I stopped playing, because once they stopped releasing new campaigns, everything started to revolve around titles... and I preferred the days of just progressing through the games, when everyone was playing missions and every mission outpost was full... I would have preferred more campaigns instead of a GW2.
The one in the Ascalon Catacombs is Ascension Song. It also plays in the Crystal Desert and Shiverpeaks.
Also I think Robert Ridihalgh is involved in the integration of sound into the game or something, so he may not have *composed* anything, but rather worked on getting it playing in-game.
There are currently 3 well known great songs from Guild Wars that are not on any of the soundtracks. Kaineng Background (this song), one of the songs in the Ascalon Catacombs during Pre-Searing, and the song that plays during the beginning of the searing cinematic. Of course you can rip em from the game wit ha recorder, or from the DAT file and enjoy them. The only disadvantage to not having them on the soundtrack is the unavailability of a higher quality lossy (i.e. 320), or a lossless version.
@Kraele Actually, I take that back. Going through the exported files, quite a few of the Guild Wars Factions tracks that HAVE been released are also by Robert Ridihalgh, supposedly. o_O
Holy crap, I know why this hasn't been released! I extracted the sound file from the Gw.dat, and it credits to "Robert Ridihalgh - GWch2 urban 01". Not by Jeremy Soule like the rest.
@NuclearDuckie So did they try and keep the official soundtrack to Jeremy Soule compositions only? And was the file you extracted a wav file? Maybe that would be a better recording than mine to put up here.
@Kraele Well, as the soundtrack was released by Jeremy Soule, I imagine he would only want to put his own compositions in. I think the other unreleased tracks may have been done by him though; they sound like it, and this one was the only file that had any kind of ID on it.
Also no, the file was in Mp3 format, and only at 128kb/s; 32khz. Still, if that's the raw file that plays in the game, it would be pointless to record it at any higher quality. :/
There seems to be one track in each game that isn't in the albums. This one; one in Prophecies that plays about everywhere but most commonly in the Maguuma Jungle; and one in Nightfall that plays during battles near the start and end of the game. I have no idea why. :/
loved it when it play in the kaieng guild hall the one made of marmer etc and were the dragon tournament was kept thx for the upload m8 dont play it anymore for over some years now but i stil love all the soundtracks not 1 game has better ones then guild wars
Yeah kind of weird it isnt in the album considering it not only plays in keing but everywhere near it practically untill you get to the kurzick/luxon.
Ah, yes... This one :) It's amazingly beautiful, I really don't know why it isn't in the soundtrack! Thank you for your efforts to put this in here for us :)
@aznchewbaca Sorry for not replying to you 11 months ago. x_x I think I was dead at the time. XD Yes, I recorded it from the game. I'm thinking of re-recording it so I can get a louder version though.

Always wondered why it wasn't on the soundtrack. By far my second favorite song from the soundtrack behind Age of the Dragon.
