The fast spin indicates this station is populated with beings from a high-gravity planet, like Jupiter. Does this animation tie-in with the Toynbee Tiles? "Toynbee's idea in Kubric's 2001 -- resurrect dead on planet Jupiter."

Actually, I wanted the spin on the ship to be slow enough so it could simulate Mars gravity since the crew onboard is (Or is that "was"?) headed to Mars. As for Toynbee Tiles, I don't think there's a relation in this case.
