Hey bro I'm 24 years old and I've just lost my 21 yr old brother from sickle cell anemia. U remind me soooo much of him bc of the tired look in ur eyes and bc of all u have to go through. He just died June 1, 2010. I keep ya head up and stay strong, u were put on this earth for a reason.

Five years ago I almost lost my vision in my left eye and had laser surgery...I can now see pretty good out of it but I will have to live with seeing "floaters" (transparent floating spots) in my left eye for the rest of my life.
The past 8 years I had to go to the hospital 2-3 times a year from S.C. pain. I recently moved from Metropolitan St. Louis (Illinois side) to Houston, because its warmer and better for my S.C. ALL OF THIS BECAUSE OF SICKLE CELL AND PEOPLE THE PAIN IS LIKE NO OTHER PAIN YOU'LL EVER FEEL!!! IT WILL MAKE THE STRONGEST GROWN MAN CRY LIKE A BABY CURLED UP SHAKING!! WAKE UP THIS IS A SERIOUS DISEASE!!!

I also hate the pca it over dosed me..i rather have the nurse admin every 2 hrs...we are some of the strongest.. stay healthy stay srong...they will never understand the pain we deal with every day..but we are here fighting

There is strong evidence that the crises are caused by the absence of a set compounds called Nitrilosides.
They are abundant in African diets, where sickle cell is common but crises are not.
Foods containing Nitrilosides include:
Cassava, Yams, Millet and seeds from most fruits.
Apple, Peach, Plum, Prune, Blackberry, Strawberry, Pear seeds contain high levels.
This substance protects against cancer as well. Include them in your diet and your problems could be over.

Honestly I know exactly how you feel.
I have sickel cell too and I'm only 16 turning 17 years old. But I find that people with sickel cell are some of the most strongest people on earth because most people can't handle pain like that.
