Didn't realise Delbert Mann directed this (Oscar winner for 1955's Marty). I know it's their favourite version for many people but I don't like it. Heidi and Clara are playing each other's roles; Jean Simmon's is too nice as Rottenmeier (in order to bring into it a ridiculous romance); no Grandmama, no Dr Classen and worst of all Sesemann seems to know exactly where she's from at the outset, reducing that special sense of complete isolation she experienced in the book. Too many changes for me.
I love this movie! Please can you put the "Heidi song" in here... the one that begins with "when i am wishing for dreams to come true"?
Been searching for that song from exactly that movie for ages.
