uh, i think god is pointing out in the scriptures the dangers of pride. because herod boasted to his friends when he told his daughter he would give her anything she wanted, you see herod was afraid of killing john because he didn't want people to rebel, but because he promised his daughter anything, out of pride, and to keep his word, he killed john, john died because of the kings pride. i think it's very much making that clear. because of his boastfullness and pride, john died.
