We let Kent go in the off season in order to save enough money to attempt to re-sign Beltran who of course screwed us anyways. I was at an Astros vs dodgers game in 2005 for the return of Kent. I was so saddened to here some fans booing Kent, who probably would have re-signed if we had offered him a deal, that I stood up and cheered my ass off for Kent every time he came to the plate.
Astros had their chances to go all the way in 2004 but lost to the Cardinals in the NLCS. Then in 2005, they had a chance to do it again, but lost to the White Sox in the World Series.
I miss those days. It's been a long time Astros fans, I have a feeling it's gonna be a lot longer after years of trading off our franchise players for miner league prospects.
had we been able to keep this team together for the 2005 season, I think we could have taken the white sox....but I can tke anything away from chicagos 05 team....that team was a hell of a team with a hell of a pitching squad.
@MrDviera1987 Game 3 was just a killer... if we had managed to edge that ballgame who knows what might have happened? But to lose after such a long game to go 3 down was heartbreaking and we were never likely to recover.
That was one of the best Astros teams ever, if Edmonds hadnt have made that crazy catch he wouldve never hit that walk off in game 6. Still the best Astros series ive ever seen...
One of my favorite moments in Astros history.

I remember Jeff Kent signing autographs for hours, free of charge, at Minute Maid after he was elected to the All Star game. He was a class act.
