good to know. i thought it was strange that newer cars dont have an ashtray and lighter, No Spare is just stupid, unsafe, and a deal breaker if i were the buyer.
Being the know-it-all that you are, you should know that the EPA for the Elantra is 29 city, 40 hwy. It's interesting that you singled out the Elantra to bash, and then halfway into your incessant ramble, finally mentioned that several other manufacturers are omitting the spare too.
I have a '12 Elantra, and after 35 years of driving Toyotas and Hondas, can say that it is the best car we've ever owned. I am easily getting the EPA mileage, and often do better on the highway--as high as 51mpg.
Hay kids this guy sounds drunk to me! Yeah it sucks that it does not come with a spare tire but this is no reason to walk away from a good car. Just tell the dealer you will take the car with a spare and a jack and see how fast they come up with one. The 40 MPG highway is a real number if you drive on the highway with the cruse control on.
@ROCKNTV1 I like to give credit where credit is due, Hyundai makes a very reliable car, I can't deny that. BUT They're being very CHEAP and MISLEADING with the whole eco-No spare tire ordeal.
@jdouglasfisher good point clearly they are just screwing us if geo metros were getting 40-55mpg in the early 90's you would expect with all advancements we would be seeing at least 100mpg by now.
@cbr6864 Only? Mine got up to 53 MPG and had a spare. If you take out the spare and jack and, and the put an insert with a can of fix a flat and a pump, your not saving all of the weight. I'll be damned if I would get stuck on the open road waiting for roadside service for a flat that probably cant be fixed on-site. As for Chevy, this is just a scam to sell you On-star.
@cbr6864 The Geo Metro is a sub compact car that rides and handles accelerates like crap. How can you compare the two? Just for kicks go to a Hyundai dealer and test drive an Elantra or go smaller and try the new 2012 Accent. These cars drive great now way like the Metro. Check out the website and look at all the standard features.6 speed transmission, Air bags everywhere, 4 wheel antilock breaks, stability control, Blue tooth, mp3, iPod input
@cbr6864 Cruse control and you can control everything from the steering wheel. Oh yeah 148 HP and 131 foot pounds of torque. Better than the 2012 Civic Lx that I tested, the Civic had a ton of road noise the Hyundai was quiet add the 10 year warranty and you got the best car value. That's why they are selling more cars now than any other brand.

why do dealers brag about cars getting 40mpg the old geo metros got the same
cbr6864 9 months ago
@cbr6864 Yup, my frugal pal in LA still has his going. I admire him in that he always picked cars based not at all on their being "cool" or not.

@cbr6864 I think it's because of weight. The new crap has side airbags, dual front airbags. Alot heavier than the metro.
