Even when her gunship was barely holding itself together, instead of trying to dodge all the missiles she could've turned it around and unload some missiles directly at Quaritch's cockpit.
And the gunship is faster and more maneuverable than that behemoth, if she could get behind it or hit its engines from the side using the floating mountains to her advantage.
the thing that puslez me is, that jack said that the missiles do not work in halleluja mountains but she and some Ikran-hunters got shot through them O.o
@Delta138boss in the film they said missle "tracking" wont work and that they had to fire their stuff in a line of sight instead. If you noticed, the missles in the film didnt turn or change course when fired
problem is that her craft is the Samson which is the transporter crafter, not the dedicated gunship like the scorpion. i think that her main armament were the door machines guns and maybe some light missiles at the front, while the Dragon had like chain guns, machine guns, grenade launchers, ATG and ATA missiles and armour plating.
@FortitudeOfHeaven She could have, but it would have been hard because there were so many missiles from Quartich's cockpit, so she wouldn't have gotten a good aim. And btw, she was trying, thats how she died.

I'm sure the ship can be controlled from different areas within itself. If she killed a couple pilots I don't think it would do much. That was just as disappointing as Ana Lucia dying on Lost. If the crash didn't get her, the toxic air would. Most of Cameron's films have an element of attrition, for lack of a better phrase. Cameron said he mapped out the sequels. If there was a place for Trudy, she would have lived. Or maybe she didn't want to commit. 'Shell has a small film of her own in progress, about sisters in the Dominican Republic executed by their dictator(names escape me-see her website or wiki article).

Losing Chacon was a tragedy because she didn't need to die. Jakesully should've presumed they had something in that aircargo ship's hold. The rear ramp was the only way to release its load. Send Chacon's gunship up the rear of the cargo ship and shoot the hell outta the rear hatch.
Also, since she was a pilot, she should've known the copter's vulnerabilities and designed a tactic for Jakesully to exploit.
Correct. Too many of the Na'Vi died needlessly. The battle tactics employed by Jakesully were just atrocious. Even modern-day Marine grunts know some basic modicum of battle planning.

Thats exactly what I thought. I loved the film but I thought her character would've been more significant if she went out as a kamikaze heroin, and that too would've added to the world trade centre imagery and the emotion wrapped up in that.
I don't think you need to know every little motive, you saw when they were firing those gas cans the confliction inside of her - I mean she pulls off the badass yet kind character so well. I love her last line in the film, though I won't ruin it just incase anyone hasnt seen this yet =D
Unfortunately, this is one of the more undeveloped characters. I mean, as an ex-marine aviator... what's her motivation for switching over? Does she fall for Jake? Does she have a personal encounter with the Na'Vi?
Its an overall awesome movie, and in the grand tradition of Cameron's awesome female pilots, Trudy fits the role, but her actions are a bit random.

I saw this today and while maybe the story plot wasn't 100% original (but what is? every plot is just another spin-off of another one) but I thought all of the characters were created with a lot of depth to them. Even the minor characters held importance. And the effects looked amazing enough to me. The movie was over 2.5 hours and I would still go tomorrow to see it again.

No my friend, I saw this movie, I enjoyed it just in a different way than you did. I don't care about this magnetic field bullcrap (in order to do this you would need m filed powerfull enough to make a crisp out of your brain), it was justification for author to have a cool looking fantasy like landscape. He mixed some wonderfull ideas with crappy ones and made a big show like no one before. At some point story and effect was more important than scientific accuracy. But biggest crap was message.
Basically he said nothing that wasn't already said before and he used cliches and tropes which were done to death. Just because of this he ruined my experience - for most of the time I was supporting the bad guys, just in order to be different, because I couldn't stand thosuand ripp-offs Cameron did in preparing story. And on top of that-technology levels which don't match each other. It's like indians with bazookas, but they fire stones instead of missiles. In space. Come on.

Thats exactly what I thought. I loved the film but I thought her character would've been more significant if she went out as a kamikaze heroin, and that too would've added to the world trade centre imagery and the emotion wrapped up in that.

I don't think you need to know every little motive, you saw when they were firing those gas cans the confliction inside of her - I mean she pulls off the badass yet kind character so well. I love her last line in the film, though I won't ruin it just incase anyone hasnt seen this yet =D

Unfortunately, this is one of the more undeveloped characters. I mean, as an ex-marine aviator... what's her motivation for switching over? Does she fall for Jake? Does she have a personal encounter with the Na'Vi?
Its an overall awesome movie, and in the grand tradition of Cameron's awesome female pilots, Trudy fits the role, but her actions are a bit random.

I saw this today and while maybe the story plot wasn't 100% original (but what is? every plot is just another spin-off of another one) but I thought all of the characters were created with a lot of depth to them. Even the minor characters held importance. And the effects looked amazing enough to me. The movie was over 2.5 hours and I would still go tomorrow to see it again.

Story was great? I admit that it is enjoyable, but really, they basically repated Ewoks vs Empire from Star Wars. Luddite bull in my opinion. And singularity? In 20 years? Stop reading Kurzweil, srsly. The future is unpredictable, but when you start to predict it it would be great if you are consisted. If you have something like mind uploading you have to have UAVs. We have them NOW. Not to mention fake bodies and curing disabilities. Avatar is rather Fantasy than SF.

Avatar is Sci-fi rather than Fantasy actuall.y YOu just have to think more. You don't think the fact that these guys are super tall would make sense? You don't think the trees lighting up would make sense? You don't think floating jelly fishes would make sense? I'll explain a few. First know that this isn't earth. Gravitational pull is lighter so these guys can grow extremely tall. Chemical reactions can occur, causing trees to light up.The jelly-fish can probably float cuz they have gas in them

Whatever dude, for me it was really waste of time and I doesn't care how much work they put in it. 99% is stil bull. I can aspull right now justification for magic using SF tools, but it doesn't make it less "fantasian" than before, especailly if I make it look like before. Floating chunks of landscape? No my friend, I saw this movie, I enjoyed it just in a different way than you did. I don't care about this magnetic field bullcrap (in order to do this you would need m filed powerfull enough to make a crisp out of your brain), it was justification for author to have a cool looking fantasy like landscape. He mixed some wonderfull ideas with crappy ones and made a big show like no one before. At some point story and effect was more important than scientific accuracy. But biggest crap was message.

Basically he said nothing that wasn't already said before and he used cliches and tropes which were done to death. Just because of this he ruined my experience - for most of the time I was supporting the bad guys, just in order to be different, because I couldn't stand thosuand ripp-offs Cameron did in preparing story. And on top of that-technology levels which don't match each other. It's like indians with bazookas, but they fire stones instead of missiles. In space. Come on.

I really don't understand the haters and critics. I'm a film lover and have been for years, i know a good film when i see one and have been left almost in dispair at the crap that has been out forr the last x amount of years.

And i agree, this movie achieved something that no other movies ever had. It was probably because nobody else wanted to do it or couldn't do it because it would be too much money and effort to put in.
