  • i do hope that Stokey didnt set fire to Ripsaw Falls.

  • "What seems to be the trouble here?"

"It's Stokey the Bear! He's gone ape!"

    "Oh, that rat!"

    That's funny.

  • red wood. the voice of Hans Conried. Snidely, the voice of Edward Everett Horton.

  • Did not expect Chicago. XD

  • "We'll blame it on the cow!"

  • Wow, when I was little I simply adored Dudley Do-Right but I never once thought about what the Canadians thought about it, I had no idea it was banned! :O The more you know...

  • @FantasyIndividual it wasn't banned here i remember watching it as a kid.

  • @MegaWolfgang Oh, okay. RJRanke must have been wrong then. Woulda been crazy if it was, though!

  • @FantasyIndividual Yeah I guess they should have said that stokey the bear was smokey the bears evil brother or something. LOL

  • Abraham Wilkes Booth?!

    TOO SOON!!! XD

  • I must have only seen this cartoon once before-because it was only aired once. They objected to this parody of Smokey and thus this cartoon was banned.

But in Canada, all the Dudley Do-Right cartoons were banned. The Canadian Mounties objected to Dudley as a whole, although it was more a spoof of old-time melodrama than a ridicule of the Royal Canadian Mounties.(A man I met at a comic book convention who was from Canada told me this.)

  • @RJRanke they wernt banned in canada my parrents watched it all the time

  • Welcome to Qweebec hehe

  • Joyce Kilmer, lol, ok...hehe

  • "We'll blame it all on the cow!" :-)

  • Hah red wood

  • This is my absolute favorite cartoon of all time.

This is drop dead hilariously witty humor. I can sit here and watch episode after episode of this show and crack up during every one of them.

  • Dang, Snidley Whiplash sounds like Doc Brown!!!

  • why do the people in kweebeck not have french accents?

  • ...Oh wow....The Chicago Fire...they would NEVER get away with that today.

  • dudley's chin! -_-

  • "a source of income for both Canada and Joyce Kilmer" I fell off my chair laughing

  • This is fantastic. Every line is a one-liner. Smokey the arsonist starting the Chicago fire alone was enough to justify this episode.

  • "This man didn't shave this morning". LOL. I love the look on the mesmerized bear at 1:22. The 3 greatest Canadians of all time: Don Cherry, Snidely Whiplash & Dudley Doo-Right.

  • how come this was banned episode? this is wellin

  • rofl i remember this show. It came on after Rock & Bullwinkle on TV years ago

  • "Now remember, Mrs. O'Leary, we'll blame it all on the cow!"

Good lord, I would have never have gotten that joke as a kid!

  • No one would be beleive how savagely satirical this was for its day. I mean people point to The Simpsons and Family guy as proof of a an american sense of humour but this was wayyyyy funnier without being smutty

  • @zapkvr yup, so was Rocky and Bullwinkle.

  • That was pretty rockin. I especially liked how the narrator said "roof" and "Quebec." They're definitely not Canadian. Great episode, was it really banned?

  • @canadarox14 it was banned cause the forrest department didnt want a bear who lights stuff on fire because it contradicts all that they tried to acopmplish with the smokey the bear campaighn

  • The U.S. Forest Service sternly objected to "Stokey" after it originally aired on "THE BULLWINKLE SHOW" in October 1961, and was never shown on broadcast TV again. Original sources claimed all prints of the episode were destroyed, but it wasn't true. Portions of it WERE used in transitions for "THE DUDLEY DO-RIGHT SHOW" (1969-'70) {i.e. 1:37-1:42- "But wait! Coming over the hill is one of Dudley's friends..."} and the opening title for the syndicated "DUDLEY DO-RIGHT AND FRIENDS" in the '70s.

  • To the best of my knowlege, this episode has only aired once on the tube, being pulled forever, after pissing off the us forest service bigtime.

  • This is the banned episode.

  • How? That's stupid! Isn't It?

  • Yeah apparently because it was a parody of Smokey the bear as an arsonist.

  • Played by Abraham Wilkes Booth. That is both wonderful and horrendous.
