Aretha is a legendary icon the likes of which Karen doesn't even come close to. The reason Karen is doing a tribute to Aretha is because she was influenced by and inspired by Aretha. Not the other way around.

@FameThreeTimes Karen is anointing, and she is definitely saving souls.I don't care how iconic Aretha Franklin is. Karen Clark Sheard goes unnoticed in my opinion because she sings gospel music, but she is by far one of the greatest singers ever. She doesn't get the credit that she truly deserves, so I believe that it should the other way around. While Aretha was singing about respect, Karen was looking to be endowed. Say what you want to, but I stand firm on this belief.

@trayjt12 Aretha Franklin started in the church, & throughout her career she continued to sing gospel music periodically. THAT is one of the reasons Karen loves her. Yes Karen is one of the greatest singer, but so is Aretha. Have you ever heard any of Aretha Franklin's music, or do you just judge her? All the vocal abilities Karen has, Aretha had that and then some. That is why Aretha is looked up to by legends like Mariah, Whitney, Celine, Luther, Paul McCartney, and yes Karen Clark Sheard.

@trayjt12 Aretha sang about God, but she also sang about some of the realities of life like love, poverty, maturity, growing up etc. Respect is but one of Aretha's songs. She has over 45 Top Ten hits. There is more to Aretha than Respect. Moreover, her song Respect had a huge influence on the Women's Right's Movements and the Civil Rights movements, making it an anthem of change and progress. You can't cheapen Aretha's. Karen honors her. Not the other way around. The way it should be.

@FameThreeTimes Well said, but you will never understand why I think that Karen Clark Sheard deserves her tribute. Having more than 45 Top Ten hits is a great accomplishment, and she's a great woman, but you just don't understand my reasoning and purpose for saying that. It's fine for you to disagree with me. I guess we can agree to disagree, and we can end this pointless conversation because we both stand firmly on our opinions. The only thing accomplished is us stating our opinions.
