There is also another money spinner out there in the form of "Horse boy camp" which my nephew also attended. They charge in the region of 1500 dollars for for a four day course that is about as usefulll as a chocolate tea pot.Im not saying you are not an expert and im sure you know what your talking about but there are far too many courses labelled the answer to your autism problems if you give us a hell of alot of cash!
I can't comment on the "Horse boy camp". It sounds like it may not have been well suited to your nephew.
But we certainly don't claim that our program is the answer to your autism problems. Anyone working with children with autism knows that it takes a combination of therapies, diet, training, time and plenty of patience. But we do believe that it can help a lot, as do many of the very happy families who have actually done the program.
My nephew has autism and instead of buying this programme you can engage your brain and teach them anything you want to.There is a multitude of information available for free and please dont tell me that buying your programme is better than listening to the information given to you free of charge by experts.I hope you make your millions and donate them to an autism charity!
Engaging parents/carers brains is exactly what this program is all about :) And you're right. You CAN teach them anything you want to, so long as you know how to connect and interact with them so that they actually WANT to learn from you! Once you've established a true connection the next challenge is knowing WHAT to teach them to help with their particular stage of development at any point in time.
I can't comment on whether the program would be more helpful than the free information you are receiving. I would only question whether it is general information that could apply to any child with autism, or is it specific to your nephew and his unique autistic characteristics? Listening to free information is great. But in our experience truly understanding and working with their individual needs, strengths and motivations over time is the key. That's what this program focuses on.
Sales of the program provide us with a modest income, enough to rent a small 2 bedroom home in Sydney and to take care of our young family and to continue producing training resources to assist families and professionals.
Monique has studied and specialised in Autism for over 12 years and is regarded as an 'expert' by many organisations, therapists and families all over Australia. She also provides 'free' information via her blog and spends hours with parents on the phone who just need some good advice. Regardless, I'm not sure there is anything wrong with making a living from your expertise and your passion, especially if you're helping others.
