  • david bowie is the only that can say babe babe .not bieber jajajajja

  • I'd take this over across the universe on the young Americans album

  • @BreakingGlass77 me also ..this for me is bowies most soulful song

  • @zilkinson1 your playing catch up :)

  • i cant stopping push into the "i like it" button

  • @kjsh987 :)

  • What's wrong with Cocaine...?

  • @kooijd nothing ..it makes crooks rich ,,destroys familys ,,these are just two of the good things cocaine as going for it ..the bad things its got against it is ..used as a medicine its a helpful tool for pain ..

  • Is there anyway to find this mp3 online? Thanks for any help!

  • Oh, yes, it's this one ! Love it ! Listened to it already before ! I think I need to get this edition of Young Americans ! (I only have the old LP without the additional tracks)

  • It's Gonna be me or ( Come back My babe ) as it's called on my single 7'' version, david took this song away from young americans and sadly replaced it with across the universe. the best insight into the plastic soul man from that coke orientated time.

  • @LOW1711 is the 7'' version a bootleg ?

  • @xxpiggystardustxx Yes it was a 7 inch single , and the B side had the extraordinary full 6 minute version of aladdinvain, also... other boots ( 12") were Alarm and The John I'm only Dancing Bootleg LP.

  • @LOW1711 thought it must have been a bootleg ..ive only bought a few bootlegs ,,,never liked the quality of most of them

  • @xxpiggystardustxx well I have hundreds , and good quality now converted to FLAC.. email for a sample.

  • @LOW1711

I've only recently discovered Bowie and I've been going through all his songs- that's how I got to this one. I know about his cocaine period; did this song come from that time?

  • @LadyBowie1119 i suspect his cocaine period lasted a lot longer than he would admit

  • @xxpiggystardustxx

    What do you mean?

  • @LadyBowie1119 people just don't give up cocaine over night ,,if ever

  • @xxpiggystardustxx

Ah. No, he was on it for a good portion of the late '70's. He used alcohol to wean himself of off cocaine.

  • @LadyBowie1119 whatever you want to believe kid ,,stick with it ,,its not my duty to defend bowie

  • @xxpiggystardustxx

You don't sound like you're defending him. You sound like you're putting him down for ever being on cocaine and assuming it was longer than he'd say. If he admits he was on cocaine what's the point of saying it was shorter than it really was?

  • @LadyBowie1119 i am neither defending him or putting him down . as i said ,,whatever you want to believe stick with it

  • Great song! I'm peruvian but this song is universal. Bowie is my favorite musician.

  • Great song

  • My favorite Bowie song ever

  • the piano and the chords with bowie´s sweet voice is just awesome. out of this word. dont u think piggy?

  • this song is awesome as the entire album.bowie is a genious in everything.even for make romantic songs

  • My God, this is beautiful. It's almost cinematic in its grandeur. I only wish I could articulate my feelings with such stunning effect.....

  • @Kemster79 i take it you like it :)

  • Loved her before i knew her name, This song is so beautiful. Equals sweething in its emotional depth. I think...

  • love diamond dogs album ,,not one bad track ..a rare album where you can listen to from start to end

  • And I did just days ago.

  • i'm astounded. He's capable EVEN of THIS. He's really 10 artists in 1. He's...genius. I always knew, and now I know one more time! Pity I only saw him live once.

  • better to have seen him once than never at all :)

  • This is THE most underrated Bowie song, in my opinion, and one of my top favorites of all time.

My love for Bowie's music knows no limits.

  • yeah this is bowies most soulful tune

  • they could have kept Across The Universe and given us this gem instead.

Never thought id like Philly Soul...till Bowie takes a shot at it as "plastic soul". love it!

  • i can't uderstand why he left this off the album

  • Too much cocaine maybe...

  • "Plastic-soul, written and sung by a white English" ... but with an universal Soul.

    Really thanks.

  • I personally think he left this off the album because it isn't as commercial/accessible compared to most other stuff he did. Bowie wasn't afraid of experimenting but I'm pretty sure he focussed on reaching a broader audience.

  • yeah! superb bowie unreleased! all we need is aladinvane demo ! has to be out there somewhere eh!!!!

  • Rykodisk bonus piggy? This is is genuinely one of my favourite Bowie numbers. And I've heard close to everything. I'm off to see if the demo of Candidate is here! Love you for this!

  • yes from the Rykodisc , im glad you like this :) Candidate is a awesome track ,years ahead of itself

  • I love this record so much.

I'm not an expert on David Bowie, but I do really love his songsmith'ing abilities.

This track so beautifully demonstrates how he is such a talented song 'crafter'. This song has been crafted by an expert.

    I can't stop loving it.

  • you sure are a bowie expert :) you enjoy his musical abilities :)

  • What you have to remember was that Bowie was not a major player at the time so any publicity (ie Lennon) track on an album gave it kudoss - strange now to look back on these discarded tracks - punks these days would kill to have written something like this.

Bowies golden age - thanks for posting

  • i would have said bowie was thee major artist by 1975

  • Why Bo left those 2 tracks off Y A will always be a great mystery to me

(they are some of his best work EVER !)

    Thanks for posting !

  • yeah their better than some of the tracks that made it onto the album

  • Well remembered Grasshopper!!!!

  • fank yu velly much master :)

  • Thank you for posting this song... this is my favorite song by him... nice to know that Luther Vandross sang with him on this album as well :-) Mad props to my dOOd!

  • luther is the guy on the left in a blue suit and white shirt ..what a great singer i saw him live about 20 years ago

  • 'Who can I be now' same thing - amazing! why was nt that on the album? Thanks for posting that one too by the way! x I agree with you on the 'Across the Universe' it has some beautiful lyrics in it but when Bowie did nt write them it does nt move me as much! and its a bit Na na na na na na na if you know what i mean !

  • well to me it did'nt make any sense to record it , its not as tho the beatles needed the exposure or the money , when bowie had a track of his own which he could have promoted

  • I agree with everyone, this is incredibly soulful and should have been included on the album.

  • thanks frances

  • I heard at the last minute it was replaced by 'can you hear me' its just as good and one of my favourite songs. I guess on LPs they could only fit so many track on unlike CDs now. His CD Outside had 19 tracks on it! (not possible in the 70's) x

  • well myself i would have prefered it if bowie had added this to the album instead of ACROSS THE UNIVERSE which was a good cover but thats all it was

  • wow...he was studying soul music at the time in the states....ive never heard this one he sings proper from the heart...emotional soul!!! Bowie this should have been on the LP when it was originaly produced,,,what a shame to have been locked away all these years!!

  • yeah i agree why he left this off the original album of young americans i can't understand

  • great song, strange it was not seleted for Young Americans...!!

  • yeah its most likely his most soulful tune

  • Yeah love this one Piggy. Amazing vocals

  • ty tracy

  • great~

  • thanks
