With all the chipping and glueing that was the standard of the 90's I dont think Fred's routes should be counted as 9a+ or 9b's. He campused pretty much all of Akira and its more of a boulder problem + climbing magazine confirmed that there was a shit load of clue and possible chipping on the route... Given that also at the time it took 6 years for the "first 9a+ to be astablished how the hell would he know that it was that Akira was a 9b when theres nothing to compare it too?

I hope Ondra,Graham or Sharma will test those routes one day and we'll see...
In my opinion , Rouhling deserves more recognition but there's a lot of bad talking about him , and I can't be sure what the truth is.
Anyway , nobody (even Ben Moon or Alexander Huber that I respect and admire )should talk before the route is climbed by another climber.
PS :The move at 2:55 is one of the best I've ever seen

grade is not important. it's the felling of being one with the rock and to climb at your limit.
