  • I GREW UP WITH THIS TYPE OF GOSPEL....AND AS A MUSICIAN AND VOCALIST, THERE IS NOTHING LIKE IT, ON EARTH. YOU YOUNG ONES CAN HAVE THE CONTEMPORARY AND ALL THE ELECTRONIC VOICES YOU WANT, BUT IT WAS THE SINGING OF 'AMAZING GRACE' AND OTHERS, THAT TRULY PAVED THE WAY FOR YOU. THIS BRINGS ME TO WHEN I JOINED THE SAINTS AND TOOK THE WATER,AND THE HOLY GHOST TRULY VISITED. HALLELUJAH!!! I MISS THOSE SONGS. I HAVE 3 PLAYLISTS OF REV. NICKS AND ST. JAMES. MY SOUL BUBBLES OVER. BLESS THE NAME OF JESUS!

  • My God!!!!!!! Can we get the Church back to this please????????

  • yes I never missed Charles Nicks & St James Choir when they cane tobobby" Indianapolis, In @ Christ Missionary Baptist Church & when I would visit my uncle "Bobby in Detroit who sang with the adult choir. Oh how wonderful it was!!

  • OOOOooooooooohhhhhh myyyyyyyyyyy

  • This is a beautiful version of Amazing Grace. I remember when I used to attend some of the St. James concerts and to just listen to them sing was such a blessing.

Yhey had a concert every November called O Give Thanks. So beautiful. I really miss Charles. He was a great musician.

  • All he has to do is hit one note on that blessed organ, and tears start flowing down my face, every single time.

  • I as well grew up with this type of traditional music I enjoy but I also enjoy the new as well! I enjoy the new because God is doing new things but definitely feel like we should not forget our roots and where we came from. I enjoy when musicians kind of mix the new and old. Things like when they change melody on a older song can make it new all over again! Thanks and be blessed !

  • Thank you Pastor Nicks, and Brother JD. Dowell for sharing your talents with us within the Family of Almighty God, how we miss you both when we now need you more than ever. Yet God knows just what we need. Thanks breatheren for showing us just how true praise and worship is to be done.....

    Pastor DR..Rodger D. Lawson SR.,

  • I am 20 yrs old and there is a radio station here in Tuscaloosa, Alabama called WTSK 790am and they have been playing this for as long as I can remember. Ive been waking up to hearing this for 20yrs. If I didnt hear this in the morning, my whole day was just thrown off balance. This here is that good gospel. Ppl think cuz Im young that I dont listen to this type Gospel. But without this type gospel, there would be no contempary. Loving the old time Gospel! I thank God for this here! Be Blessed

  • wow...i remember as a child listening to this over and over again so that i could imitate Rev. Nicks' style. between him, Twinkie and my granny, I had great role models.

  • Ohhh HALLELUJAH!

    Praise His Holy Name!

  • oh my god i haven't heard this in years. i love this song. when i was growing up a local funeral home would have this playing in the background when they did the announcements.

  • Man that Organ is Kickin it. Rev, Nicks is at his best. this is St. James Adult Choir from Detroit, Michigan, love then. John Huddleston-Detroit, Mi.-2009-May 17.

  • I really enjoyed the text comments from the young Saints below! If only we had more young people to feel that way, we could go back to having church the way we use to - worshipping the Lord in true spirit and truth!!! My Lord, what a time it will be when we all get together over there. Ditto to the great comments, I'm too a young man with an old heart for the old Gospel from SW Georgia.

  • IM 23 yrs old and i love the old gospel. Its what i grew up on, but some way or another our church kinda got outta of it. I cant find churches like this ANYWHERE. I really appreciate songs like this. Ur absolutly right. If i could find more young people with an appreciation for music like this we could bring it back. But so many young people dont even know this type of music exist.!

  • You come here to Tuscaloosa Alabama and you will find plenty like this. Especially my church. We dont try and keep up with the times and the music now. We do some of it, but aint nuthen like tha old Gospel and I love it! Im young like you, 20yrs old, and you not gonna find many like us that ike this old gospel!

  • im also 23 i must say i feel alot of young people don't no this legacy of gospel music because they were not taught it. but you can't make it wihout it. i play for a church in bessemer ala we have to do some of it every sunday, if you dont teach youth while they are young they will not be receptive of it. i do believe its coming all the way back. what do u think?

  • who was killing dat organ in the beginnin? (1st 3minutes)

  • Comment removed

  • was dat charles nix on da organ? i neva heard of him, but was it him who murderd dat organ

  • Yes, this is Rev Charles Nicks Jr on organ. He could preach a sermon with that organ alone!!

  • @Snowhill3 Rev nicks was playing the organ.

  • we don't have enough nurses in church for this kind of carrying on, help yoself rev. nicks

  • Dude i feel you. Im 22 and i love the old songs. I can get wit the contemporary mess just a lil bit. But nothing can get me happy like a good ole gospel song. I guess its just cuz thats the type of church i grew up in. Herain songs like this get me soo happy. James Cleaveland, Charles Nicks, Clay Evans, Aretha Franklin, Inez Andrews, Albertina Walker, Walter Hawkins, theres are the songs I love. You keeep on keeping on young dude.

  • im 19 and i totally agree with you.

  • I agree with you. I grew up in a baptist church that sat off of a Peet Gravel road in the country where the floors were made of pieces of 2 x 4, there was no air conditioning, but natural air and wasps, and dirtdoppers flying around ( and to this day the church still stands) But thank you for acknowledging the old songs that REALLY brought us over....

    God Bless you ....

  • Amen. One of the best songs ever made. Brothers and sisters as a brother and a friend, I want you all to go back to the songs you sing. For me I sing Old songs and I am only 15 but I WANT you all to just take time out to go back and search your music and really learn what you are singing. These songs are nothing to play with, you sing them from the soul. Just take a little time out and know what your singing about and not just singing words just to sing them.
