If you are in the US or read English well, read "Freedom for the thought we hate" by Anthony Lewis. It explains why anyone has the right to hold demonstrations that are "disgusting"to some or many people. Take away that right and we lose a fundamental freedom. That is what it is about.

Well, why should a child be raised in an orphanage instead of being adopted by someone who will love and care for them? If you're afraid of the child growing up gay, that's unlikely, I was raised by very straight parents, if you're gay you've always been gay, if you're straight you will always be.
Adoption agencies would do a thourough investigation on any couple that wants to adopt, as they do with straight couples.

Underneath is an intention to restrict the democratic rights of people to express their views. People gathered to state their opinion against other group of people. This is democratic way. The gay pride meeting was allowed by local authorities. There was police at site. So what is the problem?

Well, why should a child be raised in an orphanage instead of being adopted by someone who will love and care for them? If you're afraid of the child growing up gay, that's unlikely, I was raised by very straight parents, if you're gay you've always been gay, if you're straight you will always be.
Adoption agencies would do a thourough investigation on any couple that wants to adopt, as they do with straight couples.
Now, could you give me your arguments why we should not be allowed to adopt?

This idea that it's a problem is scientifically untenable. You can cite the 10 basic signs of mental illness; no etiological tie between homosexuality and any of them can be found.

Here's where you're wrong. The vast majority of heterosexual acts are not intented to reproduce. I have two sets of aunts and uncles who CHOSE not to have children, and yet nobody is concerned whether these acts are moral, natural or not. Further, you see homosexuality only within that limited dimension of sexual activity. It's amusing that "moralists" will condemn gay sex because it doesn't reproduce, yet demand they remain celibate, as it that would resolve anything.

Yes, not all Latvian gays are behind Mosaika. Not all farmers are 100 % with the Green & Farmers' Union Party. NAMBLA is pretty crazy, BUT you cannot forbid the DISCUSSION of ages of consent. I don't think 14 or 15 year olds are quite ready for sex, especially not with much older adults of any sex.

So not much will change. Otherwise, adult individuals who do use neither force nor fraud on others make their own morality by free choice. No one has the right to dictate it for them. Just for the record, I am not HS, but as a libertarian, I make no moral judgement about what consenting adults do. The only universal morality is that you have no right to be the first to use force. Zoophilia involves 1) property 2) the inability of animals to give consent. Pedophilia--an issue of age of consent. Necrophilia- the dead cannot consent and few people leave wills regarding this kind of amusement with their property--their corpse.

The ignorance is in claiming that you can convert someone to being gay and therefore, you have to protest gay rights events as spreading what these people consider to be immoral. etc. There is no medical or scientific evidence that being gay is anything other than a condition to which people are born, in relatively small numbers and of little consequence to their ability to function as workers, citizens, etc. It is ignorant to protest against a non-existant problem.

Lebensraummetal -- The whole argumentation of the NoPride movement is that homosexuality is an ideology to be combatted and not a condition that some people have. Underneath is an intention to restrict the democratic rights of people to express their views. No one asked that NoPride be banned, but no pride asked for a direct violation of individual rights by banning the intended peaceful Pride march.

If Pride is allowed this year, then fine, no big deal for me except that a former female colleague is one of the leaders, so I might go say hello to her. I'm "straight" and if gay rights are not threatened, then my individual rights are (relatively) safe.

well i could say that i am somewhat ambiguous with a lot of things. i would be happy if my country (america) would cut support and funding of Israel, pull out of the middle east, strengthen our broken southern border and become more isolationist. on the other hand, i also can approve of conquest and imperialism which of course my father dislikes. my father thinks some drugs should be legalized, i feel that all currently illegal drugs should have much harsher punishment.

Don't confuse libertarians with liberals. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertarianism. Libertarians tolerate all consensual (adult) behavior that does not involve the first use of force against another individual. I fully support the right of people who believe that being gay is wrong to express that view, or to argue that the earth is flat. Many "criminals and degenerates" are "guilty" of victimless crimes, so yes, we "champion" the freedom of these people.

Latvia joined the European Union, it accepted all the rules of free speech and democracy that came with it. If Latvia doesn't like it, it should hold a referendum to quit the EU and to official declare itself outside the community of democratic nations.

Those of us who do believe in free speech and have grown up in Western democracies did offer our support to the gay and lesbian community. Since I am not gay, this was a free speech issue (important to me as a journalist) more than anything else and also a question of whom the neofascists would go after next oncc they finished with the gays -- newspaper censorship? theocracy as in Iran?
