So i have Trevor to thank for both Shoestring and Bergerac,i knew i liked him a lot.And Midnight Caller. Thanks trev, john, gary and everyone else. Thanks for posting.
BERGERAC ran from 1981 to 1991 and was created by producer Robert Banks Stewart, after another of his popular detective series Shoestring, starring Trevor Eve, came to an abrupt end.
The BBC wanted a series to replace the popular Shoestring and Bergerac was thus created.
The BBC repeated some of these episodes in the afternoon a few years ago (edited appropriately); my favourite was the Christmas special 'The Dangerous Game'.
@Dristarg The one with the luna race track that caught fire? Shoe string had to race to find the cottage in the country side before the kid plugged it in on Christmas morning.
Trevor eve did not want to make a 3rd series of shoestring so the production company decided a new direction, and we moved to jersey and made bergerac
This theme tune of Shoestring (TV Series) is brilliant. Trevor Eve was a very good actor for the title role, he's just like Bergerac, especially the programme.
He was quite young when he played Shoestring I think, and it remains one of his best roles. I don't know him personally, so you have the advantage of me!.
I did extra work in London for five years recently. Trevor Eve is an absolute premadonna and a see you next Tuesday at that. I met A listers nicer than him.

Not quite - as far as I understand, Shoestring was the basis for the the U.S TV show 'Midnight Caller'.

It always bugged me that Bergerac ran and ran but Shoestring only lasted a couple of series. I really loved this programme when I was a kid.

Yes, and it led to years of obscurity.
