  • What a dumb ass hondasforlife.

  • ness is always a hard ass!! its his way! but damn what do you expect!! he is the king of rock!

  • Brings back a memory every time

  • My favourite SD song. I got lucky to meet Mike Ness in the mid 90's before a show in France at Ris-Orangis, Le Plan. He was having a cup of tea and was very relax. I told him how much I like "Story Of My Life" and he replied that they would play it tonight! He was not very friendly that night...I guess he is like this, a tough guy who got a tough life! Thanks Mike for all your music.

  • My brother loved this band, we played this song at his funeral.

The lyric's are so true. R.I.P. JEFFREY THOMAS

  • you havent lived a great life if you cant relate to this song. talk all the shit you want, but true is true. go live your life!

  • hands down the GREATEST song ever written no argument

these lyrics mean as much as life and death themselves

  • Going to see them Sunday and have the countdown on! I have been waiting almost 20 years to see them! SD forever!

  • i finally seen them in atlanta 2 years ago.....im 35 and loved them all my life.....and it was all i thought it would be.....have fun bro....

  • thanks for keeping rock and roll living, legend for sure mike ness

  • There's always a first time.......I'm an old school punker, back from the Ramones days, New York Dolls, Sex Pistols, Clash, etc...., you will have many years ahead of you listening to one of the best punk/rock 'n roll bands in history, Mike Ness, a rare song writing and performer genius that few can match, still to this day the band I prefer to see live--and I've seen them all. Rock On Good People!

  • first time hearing this band...theyre alrriittess........

  • cuz thers gotta be a heaven cuz iv'e already done my time in hell fuck he has it down wish i did

  • beautiful

  • they never play this song live. bummer.

  • he was trying to troll you..and he succeeded

  • Please.. do not ever mention Green Day in a Social Distortion link. Ever.. Social D is hardcore old school.. fuckin AMAZING

  • one of their best songs.

  • WTF!!! Green Day are sellouts!

  • does it really fucking matter who came first? no it doesn't they're both great bands from different times and different takes on punk rock

  • YOU DUMB FUCK!!! THEY ARE FROM LIKE 1985! Billy joel is a fuckin pussy sell out!

  • First im going to say, what the hell is wrong with you that you would look up a video just to hate on it....is your dog not horny today or something? okay now onto the meat and potatoes of this hatefest Social D has been around alot longer than Green Day and although I like Green Day I owe my life to Social oh and why would you compare the two ones pop punk and the other is Rockabilly go hide in your closet and never come out!

  • bahahahaha!!!! i just wanted to see if i would get any hate mail, and i did ; ) i actually really dislike greenday but i love social distortion lol

  • LOL nice maybe I should read ahead before commenting...i was gonna say it's like common sense.

  • i was jsut kidding bye the way lol

  • ahh goodman scared me there for a second! :)

  • Hey, I like Green Day too, but Social Distortion began in 1978 and gained fame in the early '80's, while Green Day formed in 1987. So how can Social D be rippin off Green Day? Get your facts in order!

  • You couldnt be more wrong if youre serious

  • Dude...This is Social D. The genesis of the genre that allowed Green Day to exist.

    Wow.

Trying to rip off Green Day. Amazing ignorance.

  • WHAT?! Man Greenday was inspired by these guys. No, wonder why I hate greenday if they have fans like you

  • Are you crazy?? social distortion way predates Green Day. And I also bet Green Day would cite them as a MAJOR influence hands down. You would be surprised the bands that have been influenced by Social Distortion. They are one of the bands that will never receive critical acclaim but have greatly influenced rock and roll music as we know it today.

  • Social Distortion is so fuckin awesome!

  • social distortion is great.....one of the best bands ever and a lot of people dont even know who they are

  • Great song. One of my fav bands. This group doesn't get enough air time or credit for solid music.

  • anybody know if there's an acoustic version of this song?

  • yeah there is a accoustic version of this song on limewire

  • Mike Ness is the best storyteller ever. love his music

  • Mike..hail to you my brother...Cheers..

Your songs have touched me down to my soul..

    Love ya

  • His music is life. In all it's glory and sorrow. God bless you Mike! Not nabbing on a cliche but Johnny Cash and Social Distortion surely belong to that tortured and faithful group of storytellers and prophets that have come not quitetly through the ages. That's my salute to you. Of grattitude.

  • I love the formua for a Social Distortion song, Establish a riff, short into solo/ melody, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, solo (very similar to the melody), bridge, verse chorus. They keep coming back to the same riffs to make the different parts of the song sound familiar instead of a completely new thing

  • i played this song when we layed my best friend to rest -----r.i.p. john----

  • anyone know where to find the kareoke version of this? ive looked all over the internet with no luck. social d still rocks!

  • awesome song, i saw social d yesterday in amsterdam but unfortunately they didn't play this song.

  • damn what year is this :] this shittt is sik thoguh going in ma favs!!click thumbs up 4 whoever luvs dis song!! :)))

  • great song, amazing band, lousy video. Not sure who directed that one, but it captures approximately zero of the feeling of the tune.

  • I like this video.

  • TODAY TODAY TODAT IN bARCELONA! : )

  • One of my most favorite songs. Such passion and energy.

  • I need to get this album again. I used to cut grass and wash cars to it when I was a kid. I loved it.

  • i really hate you. you suck. noone will go to that stupid site youre advertising. you dont actually know any of these songs. so suck it and fuck off

  • mike ripped this riff off me when he took my spot in that unmentionable 80's band "easter"...where's my royalty check?

  • Any word on them doing any new material or touring? (That'd ride) - Steve Foster

  • They're in Europe right now, specifically Madrid tonight. I'll be there.... "Stand up strong......" Wonder if they'll play this (after the two times seeing them in the US without them playing it)

  • Dennis Dannell actually died when White Light White Heat White Trash was in production. This song was added at the last minute as a tribute to him. Or so they say... either way, it's a great song and the words are just right. I played this song alot when My dad passed away.

  • The "jesus" drummer must have resurrected him for the video... since hes playing guitar just to Mike's left. :P

That's a myth. This album came out in like 1996, he didnt die until 2000.

  • Yep, you got it on the money, I know because it came out when I was two, and appearently I went crazy when "Dear Lover" started to rock.

  • Actually the song "On Angel's Wings" is the tribute to Dennis Dannell. He died a few years after this album came out. In fact he was still alive on Live @ The Roxy which came out after this.

  • I knew all that but do you knopw how he died exactly?

  • Yes. He had a brain aneurysm. He went pretty quick from what I understand.

  • A great song by my most favorite band in the world!!! MIKE NESS IS HOT!!!!!

  • this song is great...

  • to my baby in heaven, she would've loved this,RIP RACHEL MARIA DELAGO

  • In Loving Memory of Raul ("Gonzo") Mendoza, Jr.

    Gone but never forgotten...

  • I thought this song was written for Dennis Danell after he passed away? Yet that looks like him in this video. (guitarist) I will ALWAYS LOVE THIS BAND. I saw them play a bunch at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles back in 1983-84.

  • This album came out in 96, Dennis didn't pass away until 2000.

  • "Dont take me for granted" was written for Dennis after he passed away

  • thizz face in the beginning

  • when the angels sing ya baby

  • fuck i truely LOVE this band. Good Memories. =]

  • fucxk...life is too short

  • RIP Dennis

  • first band i hered best band ive hered yet :)

  • That black car at :56 is my friend Mikes car.

  • ok sure dude whatever you say ... is your friend mike ness??

  • Mike Ness has a 54 Chevy, that car is a Mercury.

  • sweet

  • i love this song!

  • Mike Ness is the best, but he is kinda kreepy wit the make up

  • he always wears make up where have you been?

  • Social D is the best!

    John McQuilkin - Hollywood Happens

    The Unofficial Spokesperson of Hollywood

  • with Jesus on drums

  • The Jesus of punk-rock. He played with a drummer for Victorian Pork, D.O.A., Pointed Sticks, The Subhumans (of Canada), Randy Rampage, Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Descendents, Brown Sound, Red Hot Chili Peppers (in 1986), Weirdos (one San Francisco show), Fear, Floorlords, Samhain, Danzig, The Four Horsemen and most recently, Social Distortion.

    This drummer is a leyend.

  • This was a reply to the comment: "with Jesus on drums"

  • these guys r fuckin amazing artists! i actually got to meet johnny two bags last night n he signed my guitar

  • beautiful song, amazing band, absoulte perfection lol

  • "When the angel of death comes to looking for me

    Hear the angels sing

I hope I was everything I was supposed to be

    When the angels sing

    There's gotta be a heaven

    Cause I've already done

My time in hell"... BEST PART (All the song is ART, but this part is my favorite).

  • my buddy has the gotta be a heaven cuz i done my time i hell tattoo'd on him around the skeleton logo.

    damn good quote

  • muito bom , very nice '--'

  • I have it in my Will....that this song gets played at my Funeral...along with So Lonely by the Police....and of course The Funeral by Band of Horses....why not go out with a BANG!!

you can only go once :-) Jimi....

  • I dont get what this song is about. Is it mocking religion, or supporting it? Or does it have nothing to do with religion at all?

Nonetheless Social D is the best band ever.

  • I know Mike Ness is theistic, but I wouldn't say that this really supports religion

  • it's more about faith than it is religion, if that makes sence

  • punk'n roll song its tight

  • I think Mike Ness is a good person and social distorsion is an awesome rock n roll band. In my country (spain) a lot of musicians (and people in general) sucks cos they says 'we respect belivers' when they really are an hypocrites. Thanks DeaDHEaVEN0 for posting this song.

  • when i die, i want this to be played at my funeral.

  • Same here!

  • I always love social d's punk-rockability-blues sound a great mix

    RIP Denis

  • is it me or is the drummer wearing a shirt with 6 6 6 on it. if you can pause the frame just right at 1:22 you can get the best glimpse of it. :P

  • I don't think he is...

  • And? ...

  • no shit.

  • there's gotta be a heaven cause i already done my time in HELL. my fav. part. this song is so good. SD ARMY.

  • the version was live..

juss mixed it up kno album..

  • I have this song but I also had it with different lyrics...Welfare mother drink yourself to sleep while silently your children weep...does anyone out there know what I am talking about and if you do..What album was that on??

  • Wrong song...that's Angles Wings and its listed under SxDx on YOUTUBE, both versions.

  • Thanks!!

  • thats angels wings......

  • I love this band ! this music is beautifull

  • Social Distortion and Mike Ness, was such a big influence in my life! It gave me a direction in my life, yes i´m under the influences of S.D. and the whole Rock´n Roll history!

  • No matter wat you believe just be kool to each other.

  • We all BELIEVE. You believe that God doesn't exist. Others cling to that like a log in the rushing waters.

    But we all believe.

  • And people think I must be sad existing as an Atheist. It must be harder trying to reconcile all this nonsensical dogma. I have always been a Social D fan, and songs like this are why. "Sometimes I try so hard to understand the things You do..." The answer is this, "God's only excuse is that he doesn't exist." Keep on punk rockin' Social D. and don't give a fuck what angels and immaginary entities think.

  • i would pick this to be played at my funeral. this or bring it on home to me by sam cooke

  • this would be a beautiful song to play at a funeral

  • fucking awesome

  • I LOVE Social Distortion

    Specially this song! FAVORITE!!

  • in response to the funeral song topic i have always wanted forever by the dropkick murphys to be played at mine i love that song its beautiful

  • dropkick murphys? are you serious?

  • dropkick murphys rule,ass wipe!

  • fuuuuuck you! murphys kick ass!

  • Well said Social D is fucking great I flew from philly to LA to see them at the house of blues in orange county i went the night before saw the show and flew home the same nite to be back to work......and id do it again they are amazing live

  • I live less than a half hour from the house of blues. I went because I heard they were going to be playing, and I got a tribute band instead..I envy you greatly.

  • a un querido amigo /

  • Social D music is like a f-ing wall of sound hitting you like a train w / Ness growling out poetry at the same time. I just love it.

  • I'm in love with this song!.

  • this is Rock'n'Roll B-)

  • When the angel of death comes looking for me, I hope I was everything that I was supposed to be.

I want this song played at my funeral!

It's a class song, plus it'll piss loads of people off having this at a funeral.

  • How would it piss off people?

  • Because there's lots of people that don't have the same attitude as I/we do to music, they'd rather listen to groups like ABBA, light, fluffy songs to make them feel happy, which I guess is fine if that's what you like.

  • So I'm sure that they'd listen to Social D and just hear loud, crash, bang music.

I think that what I'm trying to say is that we all have different tastes. I couldn't understand why anyone would want to listen to westlife, and I'm sure there's lots of people don't understand why I listen to what I listen to, but for those few moments at my funeral they'd HAVE to listen whether they liked it or not as it'd be a bit rude getting up and just walking out!!!!!!

  • This song is a light, fluffy song to make people happy. It has no chock value.

  • I would agree that it has no real shock value, but I wouldn't class it as light and fluffy!

  • Not in terms of funeralmusic, but I'm pretty sure your relatives, friends and family wouldn't mind this song being played at all.

  • Actually, your probably right. My comment about pissing people off was a bit dumb. I hope it doesn't piss them off at all, I hope they love the song like I love it!

  • Heh, well...

I wouldn't say it's dumb, because I know pretty much what you meant. I just like starting discussions, see.

As for my funeral, I don't know whether or not I'd pick a "standard" funeral song. As long as it means something to me I'll go for it.

  • What would you class as a 'standard' funeral song?

The other song I've always fancied having was The Manic Street Preachers version of Raindrops keep falling on my head. I'd love to think everyone would sing along to it, but I suppose I'd be dead so I'd never know!

  • Standard funeral song as in cello, violin...Slow and soft, you know. Extremely slow and soft. Depressing, rather than uplifting.

Oh, I'll check out that song.

Personally, I'd like for Sorrow by Bad Religion to be played for mine..

  • Sorrow ... excellent song. I've only heard a handful of Bad Religion songs and that is my favourite of them. Can you recommend any of their CDs?

  • Yeah, Sorrow is really good. Awesome melodic lines.

For less melodic hardcore punk and more "Soft" punkrock, I guess you should check out No Substance or The New America.

The Gray Race is great too, and I think you'd like The Empire Strikes First.

The last two albums I mentioned are probably two of the most diverse.

  • Woops, wrong account used. Well that was me responding anyway.

  • Thanks for those, I'll check them out and let you know what I think of them.

  • Cool :)

It's nice to meet another person who seems genuinely interested in music, not someone who just came to Youtube for that one-hit-wonder...

  • not to butt in, but im a huge BR fan as well, those were all great albums listed but my personal favorite is probably Recipe for Hate, defenetly check it out

  • Fucking good band.

    Fucking good song.

    I cand belive it.

    Wow

  • your a idiot............

  • youre a faggot.

  • im your dad and i never beat up mike ness...

  • whoops,my bad.

  • omg why? :(

  • hey tarzan ur full of shit mike ness would make your dad his royal bitch lol

  • just like i made your mom my bitch.

  • It's crazy, I just found out that my father is Mike Ness...

  • lol and man why isnt this song on guitar hero????????????

  • the guitar sounds really good...a lot heavier than the version I have on cd. wheres this version from?

  • I would like to know it too...

  • fuking found out the coolest thing today my parents knew social distortion wen they where 16-20 they were like best friend my dad played as theyre first bass player!!!!

  • pics or it never happened

  • wtf do u mean now...... he died like so long ago from aneurysm i did a report on social d for school :P

  • Now that Dennis passed on, Mike Ness IS Social D.

  • Social Distortion is simpy amazing. 28 years on, and each album is better than the last, even without Dennis.

  • even though mike is the only original member to

  • simply beautiful, social d. in their most glorious moment, it's a very nice work from those living legend called mike ness and his rebel boys.
