the roots can do just about anything, their versatility is limitless... if you guys want to hear some intricate lyricism check out my channel. you won't be disappointed...
I've had a lot of friends mention this but has anyone ever notice how Black Thought went from being a decent supporting player in the Roots and then around "Things Fall Apart" transformed into one of the greatest rappers of all time?
This is one of the most amazing displays of lyracism your ear canals are ever going to be blessed with. The wordplay is phenominal. From Go tob woe Thought just decimates the mic. I'm sure the one he was using had melted by the end of this. Its one of my top 5 tracks and I have listened to a F^%kload of joints from some of the greats. If you disagree then playa you need to brush up on your history and upgrade who and what you're listening too. Even Dylan gotta give up the fyyyyyyaaaaaa here
@jchinds i love it that no one really knows who he is, they might of heard of the roots, but they dont black thought, do a search on youtube for black thought tony touch shade 45 freestyle, its 3 mins plus of no joke freestyle
Back Door of party 11:47pm - "Lil Wayne....Drake, you've only just got here, thought you was here to party for the night? The mics just getting passed round Bwoys, the DJ's been throwing all type of crazy beats on. Get another drank man come on stay" (Front Door 11: 45 "Hey Blackthought glad you could make it"
hey im only 18 and i make music for every one to listen to and relate, so whenever you have the time please check out my channel, and tell me what you think...thanks for your time
@Ginga Unfortunately true. I'm only 17 and I have this song memorized while most of my friends have Weezy and Drake songs memorized I don't have anything against it, but they're not touchin Black Thought. Black Thought is really my biggest inspiration when it comes to Hip-Hop, I just wish more people would see him that way. It just irks me when people put Drake in their top 5. I'm like if it wasn't for Rakim,Kool G Rap, Black Thought, BDK, so on and so forth there wouldn't be Drake or Weezy.
Well said and I agree. Not only did the rappers you mentioned heavily influence people like Wayne and Drake, they'll always be better to me in terms of lyrical ability and just pure showmanship. Rap isn't athletics where you deteriorate over time. As Nas's "Where Are They Now" remix proves, all the old school rappers are just as lyrically fit as they were when they were making hits.
"Its Philly worldwide phenomenon and re-enforcing that shit is my nine to five, and when i'm finished makin you recognise i'm gettin at a couple civilised women that's tryin to ride..."
Haha!!! Thought has got some classic lines on this track.
@Kingjames313 No that actually is Malcolm X. Malcolm X was supposed to be on the actual album cover but there were some issues, so Black Thought took a similar picture of himself and that became the official album cover.
