I had the Pleasure of Booking Faron Young into Taylors Viewpoint in Portladn OR when I was 20 years old ~We went up to the Penthouse b4 his show and we had some GREAT talks and became good freinds ~While up there talking ~we were on each side of a Big Confernece table with a5th of Crown Ryal between us~off to The Rigth was a real Nice Grand Piano ~Faron got up n went over as I sat there~pulled up the keybors n stared playing n Singing San FanCisco~DAMM BLEW my Mind SOO Much Talent ~Steve
Faron was truly underrated in Nashville, we loved him and will continue to love him and his music. He got better with time and there just isn't anyone on the country scene today that can match up with him. No one there. There just isn't the quality country music singers that measure up to his quality...What a shame....Country music needs a change....get back way back to the basics. 10 stars Faron..R.I.P.
I knew Faron personally and was at his residence and office several times. He always made me feel comfortable when we talked. He listened to my recordings and spoke to me truthfully. He was a great entertainer and will never forget him.
one of the first country talents to drop the cowboy grab and wear a suit. Good choice. Faron was a hell of a talent. Too bad he ended his own life. But again. We don' t walk in their shoes.
I don't know why he did what he did, but he was the best at what he did . what make's me mad ,is he got better as he got older. I play his song's everday, he's even slicker than Dean Martin. man nobody could sing a song like he could, i feel sorry for his family, but i''am mad as hell at him .Hetook away the best singer God ever sent us.with that much talent ,and style at singing a song what a loss. as mad as i'am at him he was the best. R. I. P. there'll never be anyyone like you.
I LOVE Faron and I miss him SO MUCH, damn shame he is not with us anymore, but his music lives on... what an onery, "criminally" Handsome man he was WOW... shame... aw.
Well there is no way a man in his 50's is gonna hit those notes like he did in the original recording. Just listen to the original and think about it. So he dropped down the key of the arrangment and clipped some of the phrases to conserve his wind. Like Sinatra did in his later years. The years between 1963 and 1973 were his peak as a vocalist. Like a weird combination of Dean Martin, Sinatra, Jim Reeves, plus the range of Webb Pierce. Did i say weird? I meant awesome!!
@glenfenderman I would loved to have know him. just to see what he was like away from the stage. his passing effects me more than any others. I guess it's because of the talent lost ( MAN COULD THIS GUY SING )
@beanie41 I remember him in a movie where he was the bad guy and Ferlin Husky was the good guy. it's was the only movie i ever hoped for the bad guy. I can't remember the name of it but it was fun. ( GOD LOVE YOU FARON )
We were so fortunate to have lived in this era of super stars.
We sure miss you and feel your pain. RIP

Wish we had more artists like this performing now. The classics are the best I think.
