Federer's backhand volley is fine...he does NOT finish with his bottom edge on his Forehand volleys, which is actually fairly common on the pro tour...and thus he hits two balls into the net in this video...He can get away with this at times because his footwork around the court is superb.

Will do you think Roger has a bit unconventional technique with his volleys? I don't know if it just because doesn't come in to the net enough to have flawless volleys, but during many matches, it seems like he lets the racket head drop way too much and tries to use his wrist to volley instead of punching the ball using his whole upper body. I mean I know he likes to try to put some action of the ball by adding some slice or whatnot, but I think his volleys can improve a lot more..
