Typhoon Talas, the most damaging typhoon to hit Japan since 2004, kills at least 32 people. The word Talas is a Filipino word meaning sharpness.
3200 people were evacuated in 16 prefectures, 700 houses were flooded, 9500 houses were without power, 400 flights were cancelled leaving approximately 34,000 stranded. Talas broke Japan's rainfall record
Problem... Man doesn't learn from history. Climate changes combined with man's overhunting is what made the mammoth extinct. Large animals just don't populate quickly enough to compensate. The whales are facing the same situation, but with an added bane. Our world's oceans are being polluted. Mercury is becoming a big issue. So all this added up almost guarantees extinction of the whales!
OK let's all put aside the legal and illegal for a moment. What about right and wrong? Is it right to kill thousands of whales, whether to eat or for science? Are there zero other sources of food? Is there a way to conduct research without killing the subjects? It's proven that whales are already struggling to survive. Why add to the problem by cutting their numbers? These are points no one can refute (unless strictly to be hateful or combative)
In a letter to Japan, published in the NY Times, sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund, 21 scientists declared: "Japan's whale research program fails to meet minimum standards for credible science. Also, their whaling is not designed to answer questions relevant to the management of whales & Japan refuses to make the information it collects available for independent review & its research program lacks a testable hypothesis and performance indicators needed for acceptable scientific standards."
los balleneros son unos idiotas, las ballenas merecen una vida mejor, no a los intereses comerciales....whalers are idiots....whalers are idiots..........there are alternative production of food for feed the population better than whaling
"Japan’s tsunami seems to have succeeded, where years of boycotts and protests & high-seas chases by Western environmentalists had failed, in knocking out a pillar of the nation’s whaling industry. Ayukawahama was 1 of only 4 communities in Japan that defiantly carried on whaling and eating whales as a part of the 'local culture', even as the rest of the nation loses interest in whale meat. 2 of their vessels were scheduled to participate in Japan's "research" whaling in April." japanprobe. com
I am doing stuff on old whaling stations not that I like what Japan is doing I think It is not Good at all this is probaly on of the worst things anyone can do ever
By adopting a no-compromise ban all whaling position and use of thier usual bullying, deceptive, dishonest and divisive tactics greenpeace have managed to undo twenty years of patient work by the International Whaling Commission. Now Japanese whalers are hunting endangered whale species again. You pushed and pushed and now they have pushed back.
A compromise could have been met a long time ago. But Western countries want to show that they can control every other culture and condemn others for what they necessary to do. So, now Japan says you western country want to ban ALL whaling - ok we'll hunt ALL species whales.
ha ha your quite funny. At least they have space to move around and a good quality of life..and if you want a dog you can get a real one not a robo-dog for convienience purposes. Yes we all the Japanese are good with improving technology, and we import a lot of cars. ( Thanks)
Why comment on this video or watch it if you are so arrogant and closed minded to think you have a right help make a species extinct? I sincerely hope you never get out of your country to spread your backward and ignorant opinions further than your barbaric soil. Dont bother coming to NZ or Australia. Your not welcome.
Yes, plenty of money to take back to Japan for my family. Australians don't seem to know what do with their money. Poor technology - all from Japan and Korea; poor cars - all from Japan and Korea; Poor doctors - all from China and India.....HA! Can't even make a train run on time or a computer work!!!! Poor Australians!
BUT still you have to admit Scientific Whaling is a sham and the world disaproves of such a unique nation like japan continuing to harm our world thru taking and taking for short term and greedy goals. The majority of japanese dont support whaling anyhow! Why dont you join them
Tuna is nice. I have no doubt Greenpeace will try to ban tuna fishing if they ever manage to ban whaling. There are endangered whales, intelligent whales and whales which aren't intelligent or endangered. I have no objection to people hunting and eating the unintelligent non-endangered ones.

Question: How can we target US Companies that participate and ignore Greenpeace's campaign... Let us know! Glenn

Microsoft no doubt provides software to Japanese whalers. Turn off your computer, unplug it, and recycle it.

Microsoft is not popular in Japan as Apple is.
